Nah, it's not a prequel. It's a reboot. The OG series takes place in the 90s, while this reboot takes place in the 2020s, that's why it looks so modern.

Dope reaction. I also love the fact that the Banks family is not full of light-skinned folks. Thanks for bringing that up. I definitely agree that Will was foul for pushing up on Carlton's ex. That should have been off-limits, but I guess the show needs conflict. I love what they did with Hillary and I can't wait to see Ashley shine. Carlton is absolutely a bit@h for letting his white friends say ni@@a. Or at least he's a bit@h for remaining friends with them. Overall, I love that this reboot is a drama and not a comedy. But did y'all totally miss the fact that Freeway had a cameo in the locker room scene in the beginning? Right after they played his song? He was the coach! This show is a reboot of the original but mostly it's a love letter to Philly. At least for this first episode. And I'm from NYC!

I love the casting of Lisa. Is the first time in media when I see a black girl playing a love interest, that actually looks like me. Most times we see black girls are always these skinny girls with straight or wavy hair (like the actress that played Lisa in the original show) but this, she's mid-sized and has natural curly hair, she actually looks like me... and that makes me feel so represented

The interactions between the characters on a familial level is way more believable. Uncle Phil not liking Will being there makes sense. No man is going to be cool with a new person just moving in to their home. They may allow it but liking it isn't guaranteed.

Can't nobody bad mouth this series. I love how they have adapted a new version of the fresh Prince. This has got mad love from England. Good luck to everyone involved. Mark my words this is gunna be something special. Will was portrayed by this young blood so well,but with his own flex. Hats off to the guy playing Carlton, he showed his vulnerability and emotional content on point. Well done for the creates.

Uncle Phil couldn't stand Will in the beginning. And Will and Carlton had active beef for years. Will was obnoxious and couldn't dress worth a damn. Hilary and Aunt Viv bumped heads over her lack of career and ambition. This show is spot on.

Were they saying it the same way though? Like today people will say "catch my vibe", "that's a vibe", or "I'm vibing with that". I feel like back then it was said in a more comprehendible way for instance someone may say " I like the vibes that young man gave" or " You've got that vibe". Ya feel me? Guys you totally forgot the plot of the original fresh prince. The old uncle Phil was uppity as well and Also embarrassed by wills antics but at the same time will helped him remember who he was and the sight he has lost. Carlton was a douchebag as well they just played on the fact of him looking more goofy around will. The difference between both uncle Phil’s is the weight gain. The old uncle phil was a kappa or whatever as well he just gained weight over the years they didn’t do the same with this one

I know people saying its a reboot, a remake. Technically both true, but I think “reimagining” is a better term. Applying a dramatic lens to the original source material.

The Belair reboot was pleasantly surprising and I truly enjoyed it. I was somewhat reluctant from the trailer and negative reviews, but I love the modern take of the reboot and the dramatic perspective. I look forward to more episodes and engaging with the new and modernized personas of these characters. Awesome episode 👏🏻 💯

It was so annoying watching him make the decision to go play ball with them dudes to “prove” something. He had everything going for himself & one dude just made him feel the need to do the most. Uncle Phil used his position to get Will's charges dismissed...that's pretty much illegal and WIll is completely unaware what was done to get him to Bel-Air. Will never experienced a father figure, so his Unlcle's attitude is completely justified and unfamiliar to Will.

The OG Fresh Prince, Uncle Phil and Will had a tough love relationship from the jump and Aunt Viv was always the mediator. Then Will and Uncle Phil started developing more of a genuine Uncle/nephew relationship of their own. Carlton on zannys

@@edn I think the show is good and have great potential. What I like about the show I love the tension between Carlton and will it’s similar the original version but more realistic. Uncle Phil displeasure of will is the same but have a more unique vibe to it. If the original wasn’t a comedy we can see it being that way. And I like the changing of Hillary, Jeffery and jazz their side story are just as exciting. Sometimes I do believe they can let go of every single nostalgic aspect,At times theyre trying to hard to follow the original script which hurt the show. The play ground fight scene didn’t make any sense to me other than to follow script. the bel-air basketball game I didn’t see the point of bringing the rivalry between will and the Malibu guy with out a proper build up to the story except for the tension aspect. The turning the jacket inside out was cringy and seemed forceful while the original was organic. But that’s the problem with reboot every similar event will be compare to the original and there’s ppl out there who are more harsh than I am

I love you my millennials especially my 91 babies but to be honest . I'm really liking this take on it because It shows how it would be if the prince .Was a young man In this Era and how it is today so 90s to now 2022s point of view .Also btw time to have Gen Zs story be heard we already had our story in the 90s ...So now it's time to let our generation of youth and youth adults today have their say .Everything in this reboot is what really goes down in today's society for all of us so has allot of praticalness .
