I think Michael Cleveland has managed to climb to the top of the mountain as all around fiddlers and violinists are concerned. This double album 'My Bluegrass Heart' is a once in a lifetime type of musical creation. These all original tunes are really modern Paganini. All of this stuff is highly technical and SUPER well composed. And there are VERY few musicians in the world outside of the artists associated with this album that can pull this stuff off gracefully. You can tell a great deal about an album by the fact that EVERY composition suprises you NO MATTER HOW MANY TIMES you hear it.
Especially live, there is SO much improv going on. Not many players can improve to stuff like this. I saw them a Milwaukee and I while Brian Sutton is a master he just didn't cut loose like Billy, and Sam can't keep up with Chris's picking, but he pulled it off in his own style.
They both play the same festivals one would think they might have meet having mutual friends ,but this is the first stage I've seen both of them on together.
Man, this ain't bluegrass.... Its bluejazz of the finest kind ! Fantastic stuff - how can you not love each and every player ! Im a new fan of Billy -what a great and humble player
Everyone is so good at their instrument. Just amazing. I like the holler from the man in the crowd who just couldn't controll himself. This is so beautiful.
What a twisted composition. Interesting changes: proof that the art is limitless. Bluegrass players and instrumentation…reminds me more Mahavishnu Orchestra or something further reaching. Love it. Amazing solos.
Was a camera not a phone. The acoustics there are very natural with little amplification,, thus the loud banjo overpowers everything else. The mic on the camera not strong enough to pick up .
Yes, it is highly technical but I just cannot make myself like the other kind. To each their own but not my cup of tea as it brings no emotions up in me.
