I want to start by saying that the people here are very friendly, welcoming, and very kind.
As you know, in rural areas, the primary income of the population comes from agriculture, gardening, and owning livestock. In Belarusian village every family, without exception, has a vegetable garden that sustains them throughout the year. There is nothing better than eating organic, natural products grown with your own hands on your own land.
Social gatherings are a significant part of life in a Belarusian village. People visit each other on holidays, weekends, or simply to talk, enjoy delicious home-cooked food, and even sometimes to sing songs together.
The interests of local residents are diverse. Some enjoy gardening, others raise cows and craft delicious homemade cheeses, and some keep rabbits.
As I mentioned in the first part of this video, all the houses and yards look similar. The house is located right next to the road, and behind it, away from prying eyes, there are agricultural buildings, vegetable gardens, and, of course, cats running around.
I reviewed the archives on population dynamics in this village over the past 100 years and, with great regret, discovered that the number of inhabitants has more than halved. 100 years ago, there were 1,400 residents. By 1960, this number had dropped to 870. Today, only 590 people remain.
