@@siriusblack8786 yes, heartbreaking. It would have been great, if they would have represented Belarus in 2021 as well, but their EBU affiliate chose to send a propagandistic song instead, even though they initially announced that they wanted to send VAL again, but after they supported democracy and Lukashenko's opposition, they kinda got fired and were replaced by a made up propaganda band, that was just created for Eurovision (and probably for cheering Lukashenko on every occasion). That's really nerve wrecking. Not far removed from what Nazi Germany would have done. (if you leave out the part where they would have been killed in a concentration camp, dangerous 24h slave labor or in a public lynching. And instead of rigged elections, where Lukashenko, Putin, etc would always win, they probably had no elections at all). I hope, they'll get out of this dictatorship soon as possible. If not even artists are free and they're sending propagandist songs, this goes way too far. Russia never went that far, tbh.
@@in_wino_veritas yes i know all this terrible and disgusting stuff about l*kashenko. my heart is with belarusian people, i’m pretty sure that they will get through this days of dictatorship, peace will come… my all heart and prays are with them🤍❤️🤍
2015 and 2016 Belarus's songs are one of my favorites along with "Work your magic". Such shame they didn't qualify. They are still in my playlist listening whenever with pleasure .
You can ask any belorussian what's his fave song from eurovision and in 90% chance you will get "the story of my life" answer. I remember those times, when ppl cheered them SO MUCH even if they didn't make it, cause they were our bests.

Belarus 🇧🇾 2004: My Galileo 2005: Love Me Tonight 2006: Mum 2007: Work You Magic 2008: Hasta La Vista 2009: Eyes That Never Lie 2010: Butterflies 2011: I Love Belarus 2012: We Are The Heroes 2013: Solayoh 2014: Cheesecake 2015: Time 2016: Help You Fly 2017: Story Of My Life 2018: Forever 2019: Like It 2020: Da Vidna 2021: Ya Naucha Tebya
I think VAL was actually underrated. I just remember how the channel shaded them saying they werent meant to go far on the contest once it was public they were against Lukashenko
Solayoh and Help You Fly are underrated masterpieces and definetely deserved top 10. still can’t believe how people forgot them. and i also think they improved themselves after 2013 and since that, every song they sent is actually good. they need to come back
Perhaps with a new government that actually cares about not putting themselves and their shady interests in everything they could actually come back in glory
It’s really sad to think that Da Vidna never got to be performed. And then everything gets ruined as in 2021, they literally send a song that’s straight up Russian Propaganda.
they really deserved to qualify in 2015 and 2016. such good songs🥺 i also loveeee 2018 and it was one of my favourites, it’s a shame his performance wasn’t the best. 2020 is so good too and i wish they could have got the opportunity to perform it on the esc stage :(
I just can't believe how Belarus hasn't been qualified so several times with songs which were better than lot of qualified ones, it's a shame, Belarus has lot of good songs
BTRC got permanently banned, so it's "adios" to Belarus 😐 although it's still not impossible to get the contest back to at least 40 countries. assuming that Luxembourg stays in the contest the following year and 3 countries come back from their absence (Romania, Bulgaria, Montenegro, North Macedonia, B&H or Monaco), you can still get to 40, which may be more likely than not, considering 2025 won't be a very eventful year, and by that time, finances may be enough to get at least some of these countries back on track for ESC then again, only time will tell if it's true or not
They definitely need to return to Eurovision after their EBU membership is restored, and after Lukashenko and Putin are finally out of power. Other countries that need to come back are Türkye, Hungary, Slovakia, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Russia, Andorra and Morocco. But I would be delighted, if Luxembourg and Monaco could return as well. And Lebanon, Kosovo and Kazakhstan should debut, maybe also Palestine, Jordan or Liechtenstein.
There's a limit of 46 countries max that can participate in eurovision each year. So if more than 46 countries wanted to ever participate in eurovision in the same year the rule would either have to be changed so more countries can take part and quarter finals would be introduced(and more rules added to the semis and the quarter finals) or the relegation system would have to come back, with those who NQ in the semis getting relegated from participation for the next year. Also unless a miracle happens and the arabic nations and israel get along don't expect any of them to participate(lebanon withdrew before debuting in 2005 for this reason as did morocco who refused to participate after 1981 due to israel's return to the contest that year after withdrawing in 1980) as for turkey, kosovo kazachstan, bosnia and herzegovina, monaco, andora, luxembourg, liechtenstein, slovakia and hungary they all have reasons for not participating. Turkey and hungary because they are dissatisfied with the contest as it is, bosnia and herzegovina due to the brodacaster's massive debts to the EBU, monaco people speculate will return in 2023 or 2024 but nothing is confirmed, luxembourg refuses to return due to their brodacaster focusing more on news rather than entertainment and because they believe they'll be stuck in the semis all the time, slovakia might return in 2023 but nothing is confirmed yet though they didn't return after 2012 due to poor results and low ratings/views, andorra hasn't come back yet because of the high cost of participation, Liechtenstein hasn't debuted yet though they plan to eventually(since they did attempt to debut before covid), Kosovo's brodacaster is not an EBU member, so they cannot debut until they get full EBU membership(which could be difficult since serbia, bosnia and herzegovina, cyprus, romania, greece and spain don't recognize kosovo as a country) and kazachstan has yet to debut because their brodacaster is an associate EBU member, not a full EBU member like the brodacasters of the arabic nations are for example, which means they'd need a deal similar to the one that Australia has to debut(either to be invited like they are in junior eurovision or given participation rights without needing an invite)
@@andreaslefteri3661 maybe if Israel changes their apartheid policies with other leadership in both, Israel and these Arabic countries, maybe this won't be a problem anymore. But as of now, we're far away from that. I know, that there's only space for 46 countries, all beyond that would also have more non qualifiers than qualifiers. (actually also a contest with 46 participants, if held in a Big 5 country). I just named suggestions for countries that need to either come back or debut. Not everyone of these countries all at once, of course.
@@andreaslefteri3661 Turkye: Yes please,i doubt they would return with the same ethno-pop sound they were known for as that's a tad bit outdated but come on i doubt a country who loves ESC and has a huge population as Turkye would dare send something borderline terrible Hungary: YES!I love the dark sound they went for so if they return with that, holy mama take my money Bosnia and Herzegovina: It sucks how a country who sent such timeless masterpieces can't participate because of money... please come back B&H Slovakia: I liked all 3 of their 2010s entries so if they return with something good like that i'm ok,but if they continue being in the same lane as Macedonia and Montenegro then please don't waste our time Slovakia Russia: Who doesn't want them to return now let's be honest? Andorra: Andorra's entries were all borderline not great so i don't want them to return Morocco: Their only entry was my winner so yes i would want them to return (similarly to Turkye i don't know if they will be amazing because a lot has changed since their last participation but i don't know, maybe they'll have a similar style to Hungary) Luxembourg: It would add more seats to the Frenchies yes but they were sending great stuff these past few years so what's better than 1 France?2! Monaco: Similar to Luxembourg, except now make the Frenchies 3 Lebanon: Sure why not,i think they would be cool Kosovo: If they manage to get their UN membership, why not participate, sure it would cause trouble with Serbia but i think they need to mature up and realize there's nothing wrong with Kosovo participating Kazakhstan: They've literally been teasing about debuting for YEARS now, come on already Kazakhstan Palestine: Similar to Kosovo but even more complicated, idk what to say about this Jordan: Sure i guess? Liechtenstein: Sure too! They've literally been wanting to debut for decades now give them the time to shine at least once
Kazachstan's debut is not on their hands like i said above, since their brodacaster isn't a full EBU member but an EBU associate member. Yes they participate in junior eurovision but only because they are invited to participate, as long as they aren't invited in to participate or given participation rights like Australia was given, kazachstan can't debut. As for Russia and Belarus we won't be seeing them anytime soon. Belarus was expelled from the EBU until July 1st 2024, which means they could return in 2025 but their brodacaster already confirmed that they won't support Belarus participating after the explusion is lifted on July 1st 2024. And Russia we all know why they might never come back(or if they do, they might not be back for at least 5 years as ALL of their brodacasters were indefinetely expelled from the EBU, and the brodacasters themeselves also withdrew from the EBU even before the expulsion)
@@in_wino_veritas i mean, they could bring quarter finals so that the participants limit can be increased or the relegation system could come back, with those who NQ being relegated, but i find both ideas highly unlikely. Maybe with a quarter finals system all semi NQs(and quarter final NQs in subsequent years) would participate in the quarter finals to qualify for the semis, where they'd try to qualify for the finals alongside the last year's finalists, who would be automatically placed in the semis, with the big 5 and the host country remaining as the only automatic finalists. All countries who would make their debut or return would automatically have to participate from the quarter finals too. But idk it's all just speculations
From 2015 onwards they were amazing (i even liked the 2021 entry, just wished it wasn't used to call people who rightfully didn't like Lukashenko stupid)so if they manage to come back with the same improvement or maybe better i can see them pulling some amazing results

Ah Belarus: 2004 - weird. vocally interesting but weird. 2005 - she sounds like being electrocuted with pleasure. Get it? 2006 - messy AF 2007 - that charming swag and supermodel look led him to 6th spot 2008 - would love to throw Arnold Schwarzenegger to terminate that guy and say the actual "Hasta La Vista... Baby" 2009 - great voice. But I was expecting a circus show with lions. 2010 - I laughed so hard when they flipped those wings. 2011 - being patriotic isn't always a great thing to do. Non-Belarussians won't get it at all. 2012 - rock version was my vibe. But they sprinkled it with some EDM beat and it sounded mushy and bland all of the sudden. 2013 - cha cha was my jam then but far from my favourite. 2014 - Robin Thicke is that you? 2015 - boring staging. It's a shame coz the song was great. 2016 - disappointed. I was expecting Ivan to be all naked up the whole time as promised. 2017 - cheerful Belarusian hipsters. My fav Belarusian entry as well. 2018 - the cheese of Romeo really gave me shivers in a bad way. 2019 - Zena really brought that youth energy to the stage. 2020 - cute and EDM in Belarusians should go on when they return. 2021 - honestly the most eerie and creepiest entry I have ever heard. Thank goodness the EBU listened to the people of Belarus to take it down.
2014 is definitely based on 'Blurred Lines'. Even the promo video was similar to it!! Shame Teo got the death slot as he would have probably done better. Very handsome guy. 2016 love it..but the performance was empty a bit I feel. Reminds me a lot of late 80s / early 90s rock songs. 2017 is their best entry. Very warm and lovely song by two great performers. I get a Tom Daley vibe with Alekseev.
"I Love Belarus" and "Help You Fly' are still my guilty pleasures I'm ashamed of, yet listen... And A&K "My Galileo" from 2004 is forever in my heart. Used to be a fan. Love from Belarus.
as the sanctions from EBU will expire on July 1,2024, we can expect them to be back in the 2024 edition of the junior contest & 2025 edition of the mainline contest

It's actually sad from the 17 songs they got to send in only played in the final, but from the other 11 only 9 played at all in the semi-finals(because of the situations in 2020 and 2021.)
They out quit themselves from ESC, after Europe started to cut relationships with Lukashenko due the fraudulent Belarus presidential elections in 2020 and now they are co-aggressors in the Ukraine war!
Most of the contesters failed to qualify and the rest were given outcast numbers. I think, it's unfair and proves that the contest is completely politicized.
Последняя песня - испанский стыд. NAVIBAND - самые стильные и презентующие нашу культуру. Надеюсь когда-то Беларусь сможет так же достойно себя представить как в 2017 и в принципе выступать на Евровидении
