Foreign troops are helping Ukraine defeat Russia’s attack on the city of Kharkiv. Video taken from the Belarusian Volunteer Corps shows fighting in Vovchansk. It shows troops loading into Humvees and truck to take on Russian attackers. The Belarusians said waves of enemy troops charged their lines, but they managed to hold them off and eventually break through. They then joined up with the Russian Volunteer Corps - another unit of foreigners fighting for Ukraine - to form a defensive line through the city. Video shows the Humvees opening fire on the Russians and troops in gun battles. More footage taken by Colombian volunteers shows them holding their own line. Taken from the view of a machine-gunner, it shows his position being attacked. The trench is dug into a tree-line somewhere to the north of Kharkiv. As shells start to rain down, he tried to load his gun but it jams. Eventually he gets the gun working and opens fire on the advancing Russians.
But he has to dive for cover as a shell hits right where he was standing. Luckily he survives and jumps back on the gun to continue the firefight. Yet more footage shows the International Legion at work in the same area. The Legion was set up for foreigners arriving from overseas to fight in Ukraine. It shows them carrying out FPV drone missions against the Russians. Soldiers are shown driving to deployment areas, setting up their equipment and then launching FPV strikes. This requires reconnaissance to know where the Russians are, defeating the jamming equipment the Russian have, and skilled piloting to accurately hit the targets. But Ukraine has become expert in this kind of warfare, thanks in part to a shortage of Western artillery shells and rockets. With little precision weaponry, the Ukrainians were forced to make their own. A final piece of footage shows special forces battling in Vovchansk. These crack troops take part in fierce gun battles against the Russians.
Experts in offensive warfare, they move house to house to clear them out. It is troops like this that are helping push Putin’s troops backwards. Russia attacked Kharkiv in May, hoping to threaten Ukraine’s second-largest city. But the offensive has fallen well short of its aims and is being pushed backwards. #russia #ukraine #war #putin
