Belgian Laekenois Dog Breed 

The Laekenois guarded bleaching linen that was lying on the field in the sun. Linen was valuable so it needed to be guarded against thieves. Their drive and energy is very similar to Malinois as they have the same ancestors. I have had Malinois, Groenendael (in the US know as Belgian Sheepdog) and now I have a Laekenois and she is indeed the most aloof of them all. My Groenendael was everybody’s friend. Besides a Laekenois, I also have a Phalène (Continental Toy Spaniel) which is also a rare Belgian breed.

Great video! In Europe all Belgian sheperds are considered one race. And sometimes a Laekenois can be born out of Malinois dogs, which is what happened with mine :) my dog's parents were Malinois and mine turned out to be a Laekenois in both hair and temperament, which is pretty awesome! they are very popular in Norway, Sweden and Finland and they are just lovely!

Although I'm an absolute loyal fan of Molossers and Terriers, I have to say that I love the look of the Laekenois. Great episode!

I have a Laekenois-Kangal mix and she is very self-sufficient. I have her in a large yard and I can see her sprinting across the yard on her own often. She has absolutely no problems being left alone for longer periods of time. She is very quiet and I haven't met a dog that is as much into cuddling and petting as she is. The only thing I find challenging about her is her need to go explore the world. She is barely satisfied with 5km/3mi of walking per day and would prefer something like 8km/5mi. I can't be sure how much of all that applies to either of the breeds, but a dog like mine is perfect for first time owners, as long as you like to go on long walks every day.

How much a they like the Malinois and Turveren in character? I had an airedale terrier which has a no shed reputation however she did shed, just not as much as our other dogs.

I wonder if the tail posture on that dog is typical or whether it was just shy because it was out in public? The other two types of Shepherds' tails usually curve upward at the end. Also, these look like they might have some relation to Scottish Deerhounds. I wonder if they share some ancestors.
