as a dancer, i can say that it’s very common to use basic moves and do different variations with it. as for newjeans they get inspiration from old school hip hop, can we accuse them of plagiarism? no. as well as bts taking inspo from michael jackson in dynamite. it’s almost impossible to create completely new moves bcs everything has already been invented. there’s nothing new in kpop.
belift’s video was pretty stupid in my opinion which is why it got over 131k dislikes with a 93% dislike ratio. i feel like if they wanted to defend themselves against the plagiarism allegations they should have showed their creative process leading up to the debut of illit instead they accused newjeans of plagiarizing so many groups it became kinda unserious. newjeans holding similarities to groups from the 90s (which is their concept// nostalgia, past meets future) will never hold the same weight as a group under the same company having similar choreography art design, etc. esp since it hasn’t even been officially 2 yrs since newjeans debuted. they also didn’t fully address minheejin’s main claims on plagiarism (art, the global plus auditions, hybe literally claiming that illit had “min hee-jin style” in articles, and why the court said min heejin’s claims weren’t 100% baseless)
spending my day off watching😎😎 but anyways i genuinely dont understand the hate belift received for this video because it was very well executed imo. they got to the point , and the things mhj claimed were copied were even stuff that they had no control over (as the ceo said in the video the elle photoshoot, etc). i just find this whole situation ridiculous tbh because anyone with a pair of eyes and a bit of maturity could debunk all of these claims🫠
