I make my own snares a large small washer with an Extra two holes drilled directly adjacent to each then bent to an L shape , thread caple through the two extra holes that is your break to stop the nose opening
Depends on what it is in and how much effort you want to put into it. I retrieve them in most spots. Sometime you need a puller (something to give you leverage) or a shovel to get them out. They do make bullet ends with a second cable attachment spot to help pull them out as well. I know of circumstances north of me in logging cuts where they been driven into logs under ground which the cable broke while pulling them out.
why would you use this over a standard jaw trap, whole lot of overcomplicating and waste of time to set up. when you have 100 traps to a line one that takes 10 seconds to ready is much better, and much cheaper as there are less parts
