Belitung Island - Why is this island much better than Bali

Hi Nur. With pleasure. ;) We stayed in Santika hotel (probably the best on the island - they offer airport shuttle and the stuff is sooo kind. The taxi from the airport is about $25) which is a bit North of Tanjung Pandan (not worth seeing more than a couple of hours by the way). From here, you can easily rent a scooter (or a car - a bit more expensive than scooter) for about $6 in hotel's reception and see the whole island (it's not that big). Same with island hopping (5 marvellous islands) - the port is only about 5 km from Santika. Take one day to visit Danau Kaolin with it's white surrounding and Tarsier sanctuary in Batu Mentas - tarsiers are so cute (and small). You can add the Tin mine open pit if you wish. While driving there, enjoy the enormous palm tree plantations and try some pepper on pepper field. You HAVE to visit the Leebong island (day trip or you can stay there in a luxurious villa). This island is a heaven (I'm not exaggerating ;) ) and stay there at least one night to see the sunset and morning dramatic low tide with thousands of little crabs). Check leebongisland.com for info on how to get there (it can be a bit tricky to find the right port, so it's best to send them an email and they will give you all info). But again, this is a must see since everything is perfect - beaches, sunset, gazebos, stuff, food (a LOT of food) and relax. Best footage in my video is from Leebong island. So, if you're planning to visit Belitung (for, let's say a week), I would suggest: Day 1: relax in Santika hotel. Day 2: after breakfast, make a reservation for island hopping for day 3. At the same time, rent a scooter and visit nearby beaches. Day 3: island hopping. When you arrive back to Santika, make a reservation for Leebong island for days 5&6 via email. Day 4: Drive to Tanjung Pandan, drink a coffee and head to Danau Kaolin. After, visit the Tin mine open pit and and end your day feeding tarsiers in Batu Mentas. Day 5: Get up early and head to Tanjung Ru port, where a boat to Leebong will be waiting for you. Then ... simply enjoy ;) Don't forget to enjoy gazebos on the other side of the island. And forget your phone - there is no phone signal on the island. Day 6: relax, you're on vacation. ;) In the evening, go back to Santika. Day 7: well, your vacation is over. :( Say goodbye to Belitung and don't forget to pay attention to the message you're gonna see from the airplane - just watch the airport workers carefully (yes, from the airplane). ;) Prices are lower than i.e. on Bali, people are extremely friendly and travelling around is safe. There are almost no tourists on the island. We liked Belitung and Leebong islands so much that we cancelled our ticket to Bali and just stayed there for the whole vacation. @@Lesenasponka i was a bit disappointed when i visited Bali a month ago , should be visit these island , it was really too much traffic jam in that island but next time i have planning to visit Lombok or sumba island for my next holiday in Indonesia next year.
