An open conversation hosted by Eugene Lang College The New School for Liberal Arts (www.newschool.edu/lang) between bell hooks and Arthur Jafa.
bell hooks (née Gloria Watkins) is among the leading public intellectuals of her generation. Her writings cover a broad range of topics including gender, race, teaching, and contemporary culture. This fall marks the 20th Anniversary of the publication of Teaching to Transgress: Education as a Practice of Freedom, Dr. hooks’ seminal book on educational practices. This week long residency is an opportunity for The New School community to directly engage with Dr. hooks and her commitment to education and learning as a place “where paradise can be created”

@thenewschool please get us into contact with Arthur Jafa, we would like to discuss with him potential viewing rights for scholars and students here in South Africa. We have failed dismally to get into contact with any one close so Arthur. We are deeply sorrowed by the thought that such an important work of art is orbiting within view by far from reach. Being treated to these marvelous snippets fuels our hunt for the film. Please assist. Alfred

I think Belle didn't get the recognition it deserved because 1. It was directed by a woman; a Black woman 2. It wasn't about American Slavery, but British Slavery 3. Financial Backing/Money 4. Belle wasn't your typical field working "slave." She wasn't raped and forced to give birth to contribute to the slave operated economy. She was born into money if you really think about it. Her father left her a large inheritance even though her family treated her as lower class based off her skin color. As hooks stated, a story like this has never been told before.

Me encanta el vídeo de Pablo Lopez. Me parece que es un trabajo cien por ciento artístico y a su vez es original y de mucha creatividad
