Bell's Palsy and my First 48 hours: The Important Facts

Over the weekend I developed the nervous issue called "Bell's Palsy". This is where one side of your face becomes unresponsive. Getting to the doctor to get checked is the most important part of this process.
I want to raise awareness because this happens to 40,000 a year and a lot go untreated for days or weeks. That can slow down the healing process.
This video is mostly for me. It reminds me of the issue and how I looked when I regain functionality to the left side of my face (there is a 1% chance of this being permanent, but a great chance of recovery because I caught it early.

Came down with Bell's Palsy last week, I had previously had it when I was 41. At that time I think it lasted about 2 months. I have it again and I am now 72. It's a little unbelievable that my body can do this. Yet I know my body will regenerate it self. I talk to my face letting it know it's doing great.I try never to feed my mind or body negative information because it listens... Take loving care of your self.

Thank you so very much for posting and sharing your experience! I am on day 4. Day 2 with meds (anti viral meds and steroid) I woke up one morning with a horrible twinge in my neck, and a killer headache just under my left ear. I went to the ER on the second day.. I was given enough for 7 days. Same with the gel and drops. Keeping my affected eye protected. But I will tell you this, I am scared. I am so worried this will not go away. I am trying very hard to be positive. But the fear creeps in for sure. Again, thank you so much for sharing. Positive thoughts to everyone going through this. 🖤

I’m praying for you! I came across your channel looking into bell’s palsy because a friend of mine just had this happen to him today. He like you seemed perfectly fine in the morning, but while brushing his teeth noticed a significant difference. Fortunately, he had a check up scheduled at the clinic for his marine registration and they ran the tests to clear him of a stroke and what not. As he was explaining everything to me, he mentioned this happening to him before. It’s very scary, and the simple fact it’s a reoccurring illness without a cause other than a strand of Herpes or an infection is alarming. Secondly, no “real” cure/treatment??? I will pass on your information to my friend if that’s ok? Also, I hope you have a safe recovery. God bless you, and anyone else that experiences this.

@@BrandonElliotSmith Hi Brandon, I’m so sorry to hear you too were diagnosed :( My recovery is around I want to say 80%. I have a lot of movement back but not all of it, and I have pain and some difficulty speaking still on my affected side. My doctor said healing is different for everyone and it could take 6 months to a year for full healing. I hope for both our sakes it isn’t that long.
