Thank you for your review. Because of how you did it (you showed how it's put on the head, how the chin guard is removed, etc. instead of just talking about it like the other reviews I watched), I was able to confirm that the medium size I bought was too small for my head (so difficult to put it on my head and the chin guard pads are squeezing my cheeks). When I saw you just slide the helmet over to your head, I knew I had the wrong size.
Most important thing you didn;t mention is the Mips is a newer version with rubber band suspension for an inner cage for your head, soooo stoked with mine.
Didn't cover the best part of the magnetic chin strap, it's a slide out one handed (if it's the same as FOX proframe). That clip is the best thing to come to market in recent times 👍👍👍
Polish guy with hard to spell name ;-p incorrect he did not describe how to undo it, he just popped it off. Do you own one of these clips? They are the best!
maxim0200 Sorry if this is obvious.... so both the Bell DH and Fox Proframe slide out one handed?? I've been comparing these two helmets (and maybe the Bell 3R) and am kind of stuck between : (
I'd just wear the chin bar as a necklace on climbs. I hate to have to stop and strap something to a bag. If I did that I'd stick with a regular fullface. Want this helmet!!!
Coming from a moto back ground, mainly road and dirt track racing, I'm not sold on the magnetic strap fastener. Granted in a bike your not going as fast as a motorcycle, say 160 mph, but then we never had rocks, logs ect, that we could possible hit our head on either. I have taken a couple falls at about 140 mph in a turn, and imho, the d ring works really well. I mean how much trouble is it, to slip 1 glove off and secure your helmet ..? I guess what I'm questioning here is, the force of the magnets, and how much force is required to separate them. While I like Bell's helmet, I'll stick with a d ring fastener..
1st : it's a bike helmet so even 40 mph it's a rare thing on enduro bikes. 2nd the magnets only put the two buckles together while the force is taken by rigid plastic locks. Move along
Motocycle background here as well, and yes, D-rings are tested and proven. I get where you're coming from. The clip system shown here is a is a one way clip in system. The magnet guides the initial clip in, and you can clip back out at all. To release, you need to slide perpendicular. It's pretty nice.
Any chance You can cover the fitting of this helmet with regards to Mips features. I opted for M but now I'm not sure of S is the right one for Me since there's a bit of movement if I try to shake the helmet. Not sure if it is normal due to the Mips features.
I am in the market for a new helmet. My TLD a1 is done after a bad crash at winter park. Is this the best all around helmet that can be used for trail and DH?
One of the nice to have reasons I want to know is the helmet easy to mount s gopro on? And when using the GoPro I've heard the helmet makes a bit of a rattling noise which affects the audio of the video Can anyone confirm that ?
It depends how your using it, in full face mode it does make a little noise that can be heard in the gopro, compared to my regular full face which makes no noise (because of the softer cushioning around my head) in trail mode i found the noise isn't there as much unless the helmet moves a substantial amount when landing a jump or something. but that happens with lots of trail helmets. hope this helped even though you wrote your comment 11 months ago :)
i own a Bell Super 3R but i wont buy another Bell or Giro helmet since finding out they're owned by an arms dealer. I'm not giving them anymore of my cash.
