The Gunness farm was located on McClung Rd. in Laporte Ind. A interesting fact is that the basement and foundation of Belle's home is still there. Sometime after the fire her property was purchased and another house was erected on the same foundation/Basement of Belle's former home. Across the street from Belle's farm is Fish Trap Lake which would have been a perfect place for Belle to have disposed of a victims head. Just walk across the street and pitch it in to the water. Her handyman Ray Lamphere was convicted of arson and incarcerated in the Indiana State Prison in nearby Michigan City where he died from T.B. The Laporte County Museum has a section devoted to Bloody Belle.
So enjoy your rambles through cemeteries with such interesting stories. Some may find this odd, however my Gramma and Grampa's home was near a large cemetery. Growing up my cousins and l would frequently visit to check out the amazing gravestones and speculate on the lives of those buried there. We even cleaned up sites, crayoned paper over gravestones, brought flowers, and paid special attention to infant and children's monuments covered with grass. It was a peaceful, reverent time for us and l appreciate our grandparents allowing us these memories.
What an evil woman. She definitely planned the murder of those children. Its a story that leaves you wondering about all the people involved. Those gruesome bodies made me shiver. How can someone do that to another human being? She had to be stone cold. I hope those little ones and the men she killed arr resting in peace.😔❤
As a Hoosier, I was familiar with the "murder farm" story, but unfamiliar with the Illinois connection and had no idea of the family burial plot. Also, the "Carlson woman" in California was new information to me. Thanks for the enlightenment, Ron!
I grew up in Laporte and the first time I heard the name Belle Gunness was in 1989, I was in 8th grade and had to do a book report on her. Her story was very creepy back then and still is today. If you ever get a chance, visit the Laporte County Historical Society Museum. There is a pretty unique exhibit with some original items from her farm displayed.
I grew up in Michigan City and in 1989 I was in eighth grade as well. I read a book on Belle and that started my fascination with learning about serial killers.
To her victims, & everyone Rest in peace. My opinion: Animals are messengers, when you get a moment look up what deers symbolize. You may be surprised. Being born & raised country you learn a lot. Stay safe Sir & everyone. She was in the wind after the fire.
Very interesting story on this mass murderer. At least one guy escaped. She did look evil. I hope you do a part 2 on this story if more information comes out.
I read this story when Crime Library was still around. I always thought Belle fled town after killing her children and the other woman. She wanted Ray Lamphere to take the fall for everything. They did dig up her presumed body and tested it, but the tests were inconclusive, when I last read anything. Your suggestion of comparing the sample to Esther Carlson is a good one. Great job :)
Ron, this definitely was one of your most mysterious stories. Well narrated. Maybe in the future we will have a part two. Thanks for sharing this story with us all!❤
Good morning FOTF fam 🖐☕🥰 the look the deers gave you were hilarious 😅🥰 like they were saying "why is that human talking to a thing on a stick" 🥰😅 love seeing wildlife in the cemetery 🦌
The La Porte Historical Museum has excellent info on Belle Gunness. I am sure they can answer any questions you have. Bruce Johnson, a member, would be a good source of information. Peter Gunness and Belle's foster daughter, Jennie Olsen, who was also a victim of Belle, and Belle's last victim, Andrew Helgelein, are buried in La Porte's Patton Cemetery.
Wow😳 that woman was pure evil. May the ones who died r.i.p. Was a very interesting story. Thank you Sir for sharing and Have a great day Sir and The Gang!❤🇺🇸
I agree something broke inside her when her rich lover killed their unborn baby. It is still unbelievable to think how broken she would have to be to murder children 😢. The rich men fed her thirst for money and revenge IMO.
I just want to thank you for the quality of this video. I suffer from motion sickness and would normally be unable to watch a video like this. Whatever camera or setting you used worked very well and I was able to enjoy the whole video. Thank you again!
Hey Ron, I can’t believe it, I live in the town were Belle’s body was moved to. I am going to the cemetery in a few days and check her grave out. I will take a few photos and let you know what’s up. This was a very involved and gruesome crime and too many victims had to suffer.☠️. God bless all of her victims. Take care and I’ll let you know what I find. Thank you so much for all you do. 🙏🙋♀️🕊
Thank you for all to the investigative work that was put into this, Ron. I held onto every word , like years ago when I was in college or graduate school knowing there would be an exam on this later. It's really a pretty complex tale. How intimidating she must have looked at 6 feet in that era! It's a combination of greed and blood thirsty revenge for sure. Would be good to find out what happened to those bones of the kids and the female after the forensic study was done. Keep us posted if other details surface !
I was unsure of the paternity of the children exhumed, but if they are Mad(s)? Sorenson's children, they need to withdraw their samples and reinterr them next to their father. As a father of 2 young kids myself, I'd want to be next to them if they died so young. The fact that they haven't is somewhat infuriating.
Absolutely, great Mate, thank Ron very spectacular and Awesome 💕💕💞💕💕,lm always Interested in all your storys, 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻,they are all so kooooool, thanks again 👍👍👍👍💖💖
I know you still have a lot of questions regarding these people but you did a lot of research and came up with so much information. That was a great story!!
Big Belle was as evil as they come. Unimaginable really. Typical emotionless sociopath. Another interesting story, Ron, as only you can convey. Thank you!
Great story and video Ron and I'm interested in more can't wait til part 2....I sent this video to my boyfriend and he said yuck and ugh....I don't know if he will watch this or not...I told him I was interested in this story....very good Ron and take care and stay safe and safe travels 💕💕🥾🥾🚗...
@@judyclark5736 Thankfully no Judy, we really lucked out here. I live about 75 miles north of Andover. The storms died down before they made it this far, and the rest seems to have been more severe off to our north and west. Hope you made it through unscathed. Stay safe Judy! Oh how I hate spring weather here.
That was a terrible tale. You told it perfectly. It is impossible to try to figure out what went on in that crazed woman's brain. I really wish you could have found someone at U of I to help you! God Bless, another mystery to solve, anther piece of the art of telling their stories!
What a fascinating story! That initial act of cruelty turned Belle into an evil woman and wow what vengeance! Looking at her picture, she had a strange look about her, a coldness. All those victims, and her greed for money, she was bold and ruthless! That farmhand looked strange too! Geesh she sure knew when to skip out of town fast. I agree with your theory Ron, Esther looks like a dead ringer for Belle, and getting the DNA from Esther compared to the kids would have been very interesting! I sure hope the bodies of those children are reinterred , they deserve to rest in peace. Thank you Ron, cool episode!
Belle Gunness was 6ft tall. That would have been rare in those days. How tall was Esther Carlson? If she was quite a bit under 6ft tall I think you may have a definitive answer. I do believe the maid was the body found in the fire. Just not so sure Belle was Esther. She could be exhumed to find a definate height. Familial DNA and other latest advances may also be able to solve this mystery.
I don't think Belle and Esther are the same person, their bone structure in the face looks different. I could be wrong, but you are right in what you say about the height and DNA. Bless those little kids though!
@@rachaelghostcat8584 I agree. The nose looks slightly different to me but the height comparison I feel would be a definate no if Esther was way under 6ft tall. I wonder if the kids were poisoned before being found in the fire.
That was going through my mind also. Her height would be very important. I read several articles on Belle and she was large boned as well as tall. The headless woman in the basement was shorter and slimmer. I agree with Ron’s theory…was the maid.
@@naenae796 Yes I agree it was the maid but not so convinced Esther was Belle just from the photo comparison. Like I said...Esther's height would probably convince me overall.
@@rachaelghostcat8584 Esther has an slimmer oval shaped head/ face while Belle's is more 'moon faced'. Their noses are different too, Esther's nose is clearly longer and a little down turned while Belle's is slightly piggish and smaller. Their height would be important but I don't believe at all that Esther is Belle in disguise. They are sort of similar in the image of a 'late 19th/ early 20th century stern, murderous middle aged/ old Norwegian woman' but there is still a difference between the two. Even if Belle had slimmed down her cheek bones would be far more prominent and she'd have had a gaunter look.
Man your videos kept popping up in my feed. I have watched and listened..and I gotta say..you are a good storyteller..you do your homework obviously and I get sucked into a story..thanks man..I subbed 👍
This woman is worse than terrible. I have no explanation of what to call someone that murders so many, for the greedy green. She was a bloodthirsty horrible woman.
