I was nervous getting this little guy vs. the 20l version but I am glad I did. Holds everything I need for work with reasonable buffer and is super streamlined. I am a tote diehard and its not easy finding one that works without looking like a murse on a dude. I partly went with this specifically because it cant be put over the sholder not in spite of this. In other words the short tote handles are a key feature for me - not a bug. I also like leaving only one shoulder strap out for single shoulder carry while the other stays consta stowed. No visibility issues for me. Great materials. Also a few additional attachment points built into the handle stitching that are easy to miss/not mentioned here.
I’ve used the 20l version for 3 years commuting in Japan. If you have to take your bag off on a crowded train and hold it in front of you, these are fantastic since they are slim and have large handles. The black one also shows almost no wear.
I think I Hacked this Pack to make it perfect. Took my venture duffle shoulder strap and attached it to the outside clip points so I can carry it over my shoulder like a real tote. Stash it in the bag when not in use.
For me, the concept of this bag is pretty clever. But as you have shown, the user experience is pretty bad due to the visibility into the compartments and the tightness of those compartments. Feels like it wasn't tested enough with a wide enough of set of users.
I actually find the main feature of this bag is you can access the outer pockets while on body which is a massive convenience. The main compartment tightness I do agree with you and I have the 20l. Not designed to carry heavy loads but for a 2 in 1 bag I think its great
I have this bag, love the look, but do not like the small opening at the top. Difficult to see anything inside the bag and not much organization. The front pockets are small as well. Do you have any recommendations on a tote backpack type of bag with more organization and wider opening at the top?
Highly recommend Osprey Daylite Totepack. I had this exact backpack because I like the look, but it's not for me - it feels smaller than my other 15L backpack. If you don't mind casual look, Osprey Daylite Totepack got more pockets, breathable straps, bigger opening to the main compartment
Me too! I stalk Bellroy’s socials daily for even a packing video. I think there is only like one or two people I have seen so far (Instagram and RU-vid) who plan to drop a review or at least showcase this bag.
