I was waiting for this one, I love Bellroy, but AER is better in almost every way. I would like to see the full length comparison of the two Aer's 24L packs

Thanks for the video, Danny! I think a comparison between the AER Pro Pack and the City Pack Pro would be awesome. Since you do have so much experience with bags, it would be really cool to hear which bag you prefer overall in the conclusion of these comparison videos. Great job with this video!

What gripes do you have with the Bellroy Transit Workpack?
@akgooner
@akgooner Год назад
@@jolly207 I don’t find the harness system very comfortable, could be unique to my frame but I think it could benefit from a sternum strap. I think it could have done with an admin panel like on the Aer but that’s personal choice and not a deal breaker as the front pocket is great. Major gripe is that the shoulder strap webbing kept slipping through the adjustment hardware meaning I had to adjust every couple of minutes. I wrote to Bellroy who sent me some clips which has helped but a major design flaw in my book. Shouldn’t need additional parts to keep the shoulder straps in place. On a positive note I love the laptop compartment with the in-built tech pocket. I keep my Bellroy classic pouch in the pocket so when I get to my place of work I only need to open that one zip to access my laptop, notebook and tech accessories. I also love that the water bottle pocket is fully enclosed as it ensures the bottle is secure and remains clean throughout my commute. Hope that helps

Awesome comparison and review! I find it so ironic that it's the Bellroy that has the title of "transit" and yet it's the Aer Pro that has no particular claims on being travel friendly yet makes a much better travel backpack. A pass through strap, an AirTag holder, external water bottle pockets, better straps, a lack of visible front pockets - all of these features make it a much better travel backpack than the Bellroy.
@dannypacks

Thank you for watching and great points, for those additional features definitely make the pro pack great for travel!

I really like that belroy transit pouch in the laptop area, one zipper and access to your power supply and mouse etc. If you are in and out of the bag everyday with a laptop, that's the key feature for a daily commuter with laptop. Aer is nice if you'd don't use a laptop with accessories like that everyday, but in this size range for Aer, I like their lunar pack the most. Its their most affordable too and ministry of supply has more frequent discount codes. My only issue with the pro line is the straps are mounted narrower at the top than the city or lunar packs, and I have wide shoulders and a thicker neck.
@dannypacks
@dannypacks Год назад
Thank you for watching and good call Out on the bellroy setup! I agree the e lunar pack is still one of the best options from Aer!

Pro Pack 20L vs City Pack Pro. Maybe throw in the 24L Pro Pack too. I think the first two would be a unique comparison as City Pack Pro is clear winner for 24oz (in my opinion) but those who think it’s a bit too big for their needs might consider getting the 20L Pro Pack.

@arlencarlson
@arlencarlson 11 месяцев назад
@@m_schneider I have the Bellroy Transit Workpack. Not the top of the line for quality…but definitely a good contender. I think my number 1 complaint would be the thinness of the back straps. One I have been impressed with recently is Able Carry…but again import duties can be pricy. Not sure what size you are looking at or when your needs are, but another I would have my eye on for EDC is when Pakt brings out their 25L (next month).

I too am from Canada. I've been looking for a day pack that I can pack away in my luggage but with a bit more space than a compressible one. Does the Bellroy pack down at all or fairly rigid? AER has a Go Pack that I'm been looking at also.

Thanks for this comparison, I’ve been looking for a 20L bag and this is really helpful. I think it’ll also be interesting to compare this with the Evergoods PLC20 considering the similarities between the 3 bags.
@dannypacks
@dannypacks Год назад
Thank you for watching and I’m glad the video was helpful! The PLC20 was a pretty good bag as well, but I definitely prefer the layout and size of these bags, even tho it’s 20l it felt more compact And I didn’t like that the laptop compartment was in the main area vs a separate compartment like these
@xylesx
@xylesx Год назад
@@dannypacks thanks for your response! I definitely agree regarding the laptop compartment. Did you meant that the PLC is more compact compared against these packs? I’m actually using a CPL24 right now and I’m looking for a smaller pack for public transport. Hopefully one that can fit a 16” laptop, tech pouch and maybe jacket/headphones from time to time.

@@Mizi08 Too short of strap webbing. Not super comfortable. Webbing slips from clasp so bag loosens on its own. Bad sternum straps.
@wilsonlamlyt7138
@wilsonlamlyt7138 Год назад
@@Misterion25 I am also struggling with the same problem, I’m kinda regret for buying the bellroy transit work pack, I didn’t see any negative reviews about the straps before I bought it, the straps were super short and the strap Keeper was useless. The straps when pulled, usually just return to the original spot within an hour. The back panel only suitable for some people and only a few of them, the huge lumbar wasn’t suited for anyone’s back. I’m thinking to buy a new backpack, I’m figuring between Aer pro and city pack pro, and maybe the able carry daily plus. sadly I need to wait for the local store to get those products before I can try them

After having a brilliant experience with the Aer Go Pack 2, I need a bag that's a little more durable with similar features. My favorite feature for the Go Pack is the pair of water bottle holders that can hold my 32-oz. Nalgene or Hydroflask. Can the Aer CPP hold Nalgenes easily like the Pro Pack 24L?
@dannypacks
@dannypacks Год назад
Thank you for watching! The city pack pro has one water bottle pocket that is pretty spacious (not sure if it can hold 32l tho I think it would be a little too tight and make the bag feel un balanced as well)

Does anyone know why Aer doesn't have an All Aquaguard Zipper Option? They did it for Tech Pack 2 and their X-Pac
@tmac2705
@tmac2705 Год назад
Branding is my guess. AER wanted this line to be their sustainability line so including non-recycled material (such as X-Pac) would have deviated from the sustainability angle.
@dannypacks
@dannypacks Год назад
Thank you for watching and good question! I imagine it might be a mixture of cost and function? The aqua guard offers great protection for the laptop area but it can be stuff / tricky to open sometimes so I can see the thought that it’s better to have the smoother reverse coil zipper on the main clamshell as it still provides some protection but is easier to open?

Bellroy really missed an opportunity by restricting the better harness system of their Transit packs to the two bigger sizes and not carrying it down to the workpack. Had they brought the 28L backpack's padding / straps / sternum strap and zippable tech caddy or valet tray in the laptop compartment, they would have easily sealed the deal for a lot of people that ultimately chose Aer for the harness system comfort. Worth noting also that despite similar size ratings, the Aer bag just doesn't stretch like the Bellroy bag does. With the Aer bag, what you see is basically what you get. With the Bellroy bag, it just kind of swallows the contents in similar fashion to Evergoods CHZ bags. Much of this is attributable to the structure of the bags, with the Aer bag having a lot more structure and material separating compartments and losing a lot of the ability to stretch as a result. As with everything there are tradeoffs: Aer bag will probably protect the contents better, Bellroy bag will probably fit a little bit more. I really wish Bellroy would just bring the transit backpack's harness system down to the workpack. Seems like such an obvious choice that I'm still bewildered by it not being there.
@dannypacks
@dannypacks Год назад
Thank you for watching and great point on the harness differences between the transit models, I agree it would have been nice to have the same design and the larger bag even includes a luggage passthrough which would have been perfect for a bag of this size and style
