This has got to be one of the most underrated bands of the 1990s. Too bad they put out so few CDs before they broke up. I hope they reunite so I can finally see them live. They perform with such a great vibe!
Great band. Saw them supporting REM in ireland in 1995. Brilliant day. Still listen to their 2 albums regularly. Oh and just for the record Thomas Gorman, I think your guitar playing is fantastic. Huge influence on me when i started, Love the hooks and clever use of effects. Just so the girls don't get all the attention.
Star was a great album. It was a bit dark once you got passed the hits. Tanya did do a solo which I grabbed. Not the same but was just ok. But yeah, the guitar set the mood for those dark trax.
In the CD Sweet Ride, Tanya Donelly herself wrote, "Based (oh so loosely) on an old Chinese... folk tale about a adulterous woman being made to wear a dead dog on her back until it rotted off. Way to make the punishment fit the crime. I put into a Southern American context, which I'm marginally more familiar with..."
This is my favorite song from Belly. But the lyrics have always confounded me. Exactly what is Tanya talking about in this song? Anybody have some answers? Help!!
@LTF6161 I think the mix in the begining is kinda off. You can tell during the middle till the end of the song you can tell everything sounds like it should.
