Brings back memories of our childhood spent at the "Dreamland Drive-In , Asheville N.C. in the 70's early 80's .I think it was $5.00 a car load back then .
We used to have several drive-in theatres here on O'ahu. Had some of the best fun with the most fun movies in drive-ins. They're just a memory in Hawai'i, but I'm glad to see you folks on the mainland haven't gotten rid of them all. Mahalo for taking me along! Dad's '66 Valiant 200 station wagon 225 with three-on-the-tree was a Hawai'i (and Mexican) heater-delete model. Aloha!
@@ObsoleteAutomotive It was a thing back in the 1960s and '70s. My favorite one was the Sunset Drive-In in Waipahu. The final one we had was the Kam Drive-in in Aiea. For decades afterward, this drive-in served as a swap meet until the beginning of the century. Now, the place is abandoned. Our drive-ins used the classic heavy, metal-enclosed speakers you could hang on your car door. I like your FM setup out there. Sound was never too spectacular in my day, but since...oh..."Star Wars" in 1977, I guess the sound quality HAD to be improved.
@@jimcabezola3051 A lot of the theaters still had the metal hanging speakers back when I was first going to them. But most have the FM broadcasts now. Don’t have to maintain the speakers and repair them when people drive off with them still attached. Ha. Honestly the sound quality is better with your FM radio as well.
@@ObsoleteAutomotive Yes, that FM radio thing is really clever! Given the amazing stereos people can put in their cars, the sky (and the car's battery) is the limit on how good you want your drive-in sound to be. If I worked at a drive-in today as a maintenance person...I'd probably have repair all the speakers folks would inevitably break... 🤣
That was a lot of fun! I do remember the days of the drive in movie theaters. My teen years are long gone. Most of the drive in theaters we had here in Oregon are gone. Enjoyed hangin with you and seeing a blast from the past!
Thanks for the fun video, love the wagon! There's this great 70's movie about drive-ins, if you haven't see it you should: 'Drive-in' (1976) I saw it online, might even be on youtube in full.
You are making me want to drive one of my imperials down there from Ohio! I have a 71 4 door hardtop and a 75 crown coupe! Love your channel!! Said it before... ill say it again... with you, there's no monkey business... making up words, or drama... just awesome Mopar content, info and entertainment!!
Try using rain x on your windshield it will eliminate that center v that the wipers miss They solved that blind spot by overlapping the wiper blades in later years It's especially bad when it snows
I really enjoyed this video, man. I've got a drive in not too far from me, but I haven't been since 2012 or 13. I've gotta get back to mine sooner than later- just need the right car to go in!
