As an old American flower child, I remember when this one came out. My wife and I used to do California Dreamin' on guitar and hammer dulcimer when we were younger. Almost as good as you girls. Wonderful performance! Great production! Love it! I hope someday everyone will join us, and the world will live as one. Seems like I've heard that somewhere before.

Good job on this song! Especially it being something different from what you usually perform. As for the lyrical content of the song itself? Trust me, you're way better off and much safer on that train, than today's post apocalyptic California. Just recently left North Hollywood California myself. It was once a wonderful place back when this song was written. Times sure have changed.

This is a very good rendition of the Mamas and the Papas hit song, "California Dreaming". The Mamas and the Papas were the closing act at the 1967 Monterey Pop Festival in 1967. The Monterey Pop Festival had other performers such as The Animals, Canned Heat, (Paul) Simon and Garfunkel, Jefferson Airplane, Big Brother and the Holding Company (with a relatively new lead singer, Janice Joplin) and many, many others. This festival in 1967 was considered to be the begining of the "Summer of Love" that was culminated at Woodstock in 1969.
I thoroughly enjoyed this version of California Dreamin' with balaika and recorder accompaniment, particularly as it proves that, contrary to the dour, unsmiling stereotype, Russians have a sense of humour.
I've watched this a few times...it is so well done! I love the accents, the goofy recorder solo, dropping the egg, the fake "hollywood" sign and beach scenery going by the train window, and the final dash to the beach (Black Sea?)...just hilarious! So much fun!

There are still wonderful people in California as there are everywhere. I hitchhiked down California in March and April of this year as I did many years past. The rides were fewer but those who picked me up were glad to be coming out of COVID and opening up their lives to others. No one was afraid of my germs and asked me to wear a mask. Germs don't cause disease, fear does.
@@robertdouglas8895 Respectfully, I lived there for fifty years. I had multiple cars burgled, my home burgled, I was plagued by gang violence in schools. I left a place of extreme greed where the government enables the perpetrators while driving the cost of living through the roof. Don't even get me started on the rampant drought, human feces in the urban street, tents on the sidewalk... I am no longer living there, am gainfully employed, and living in a beautiful area with low crime . Yes Robert, there are wonderful people there, and I wonder why they stay. The ones in the city seem to justify living in the third world, and the ones in the country seem to think the fire ain't gonna get 'em...until it does. I had family lose everything in the Camp fire, imagine being in your 80s and only having the shirt on your back left after losing the house and town that you lived in for sixty years burn down. The wonderful people who stay there seem to think it's the last beautiful place on Earth. I assure you it isn't.

People need to be reminded that they don't have to be victims of a corrupt government and then they can make the right changes.

I saw lots of signs saying "the State of Jefferson" as I traipsed through the Sierra foothills around there. There have been plans to carve up Cali and separate from the blue edge for a long time, with no success thus far. Nevertheless, I hope your friend has success with his venture.
