Because China is still quite conservative. Shows like this can arguably fight that despite not being blatant bl, which can also be a good thing because it shows love is more than just sex. Plus animation, novels, etc can get away with more bl than live-action.

I really have to applaud the actors. The govt may hav banned the bl from happening but the actors just make it bl. Even with no kisses or anything bl, their interactions scream love. In this series also, nothing bl happens, yet it screams bl. C'mon, the stares, the caring for each other, soft smiles and gazes.

It’s always amazing to watch a Chinese Bromance and then read the novel in English. After reading the BL novel then go back to rewatching the bromance I laugh my ass of because i know what actually happen in that particular scene. I love it. The satisfaction is completely overwhelming.

I suppose that chinese audience understand more than us when watching these shows. They are used to censure-adapted things... When I compare this show to advance bravely, which is more clear about a couple life, claiming each other in front of rivals, sleeping half nude every night... for me, it is a censured BL. Whereas I believe that in BE, they described a bromance with sexual tension . Both are well done !
Watch the series. Very little "rolling around." LOL And they never open up and talk about anything related to romance. It's basically a "business bromance" with one IMPLIED rape scene.
