We just put the boat back in the water and nearly had it collide with the cement pole since he went below deck. When your driving a boat its always safest to be at the wheel. Just missed it ....

Share with us .... how many times have you seen someone below deck and not watching the wheel? Can't tell you how many boats we've repaired from this very thing ... people not watching where they are going! Sadly sometimes the damage can be extensive and the people are lucky to alive ... its pretty bad!

I appreciate what you bring to the table. The technical and the simple. I myself have been an industrial mechanic for many years as well as running crews for John Deere houses working on all kinds of diesels and gas engines. The multiple levels of knowledge you simply must have is mind blowing.. When it comes to repairs, I do enjoy watching your videos you put out. Informative and each time you have brought a solution to the table. So in short, I just wanted to say Thank you! Keep them coming!

Cool, thanks so much for the feedback! We try hard to bring the reality of fixing boats it’s not always fun & luxurious! 😂

If you are using a PSS/PYI. PSS shaft seals can’t really be over compressed unless you totally smash them. The chart is just a recommended compression. I had this discussion with the manufacturer on several occasions. I always double the value and have NEVER had a leak or problem at any speed. That being said, every time it needs to be removed for service I replace the entire shaft seal because of the bellow holding it’s compression memory.

All the above points are true and valid! On this boat it needed a little tighter adjustment! Thanks for sharing!

Are you big fans of the outboard craze that simplifies and seems to increase durability? They take up room and some don’t like the looks, but for simplicity and durability they seem hard to beat. Thoughts?

Hope that stopleak epoxy fixed it. If you couldn't have accessed the high side would there have been a way to fashion some tubing and fittings into a 90° to get access? And would you have to vacuum it down before using or would that little bit of air not make a difference? Always learn something watching your channel- thanks!

Thanks for watching Art! Matt didn’t end up using the epoxy …. I think he uses that as last resort!

And I thought I did not have enough space in my ER. Now I realize I have the space of the Titanic. Would not want to work in the areas that you have to work in.

Yes Dave we work in some very tight spots! Lesson if you can’t get out relax so your body doesn’t swell up in panic mode!

But seriously now, that epoxy compound reminds me of that copper fixit stuff for your car radiator.
