You guys are using those bmw the wmay they should be. To bad that NY and pretty much all of America has no lane discipline. You would be hitting 155 the whole way if there was. I hope you see this and hear my advice as a 33 year old swimmer of those streets. I’m currently driving a manual TRD Tacoma and would be able to keep up with you fellas. Patients and looking as far as possible ahead (which you guys are doing but going to guess your still in your mid to early 20s so don’t see the opening cue’s yet) the more you have to hit those brakes hard the slower you are. Be patient and allow the path to open so you can make big passes with less hard braking. Don’t rely on the cars capabilities because tires and brakes wear down. Rely on the force pad wans the path will open that allows a steady high speed swim! My records from Putnam Valley NY to midtown manhattan is 25 min at a average speed of 125mph in a 2003 350z. Those where the days of using a Garmin GPS. We are a rare bread be smart and only take the risk that is a risk to yourself. Those NPC drivers are not going to hesitate to take themselves out to prove a point.
