Wow thank you. While playing around with this I just sang a F#5 without even trying. And after a bit of practice I can reach it almost every time. Before this video I was stuck at E5 for quite some time. Thank you soooo much. I'm an alto so I'm super proud of myself 😍
I totally relate to this because I have a struggle with the way I have to belt out is because I don't always have the confidence in myself to prove myself to do it that's why most people keep telling me to not be self doubting myself but my anxiety keeps kicking in
I've got the same issue. what helps me is knowing I sound better belting out instead of caving into the anxiety. I like to make it a competition in my head and prove to people what I can do.
I literally ‘like’ all of your videos before I even watch them because I know each one is gonna be as helpful as the one before it. You’ve helped me SO tremendously, thank you for everything you do!
Oh my goodness! Had to come back and tell you.. This single lesson has helped me so much with sounding fuller and broke me out of shy belting. After practicing this most of today I scared myself and started laughing/ crying while dancing around after the sound I made from practicing this over and over. Im 40 years old and just last year while swaying and singing my son to sleep realized I might be better at singing than I thought. And now a year later I'm finally looking into learning more about my voice and I'm loving it and I'm loving your videos and thank you so much for what are you are doing for free because I would never be able to afford in person lessons.
I am a voice and piano teacher and I hope it is okay if my students use your videos to practice at home. You are the best teacher at techniques that I have found on RU-vid. Thank you for explaining so well your techniques!
Thank you so much for your excellent and concise lessons! My voice teacher recently told me that she’s never heard me sing in chest voice, and even though this lesson is about belting, I felt as if I could apply this technique while singing with a true chest voice placement. You are a wonderful teacher, and I really appreciate you!
Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU! I've been teaching voice for over ten years (and taking lessons for... a lot longer) and had always been told to use my lower abs! I started using and teaching this higher support this week and WOW. It's made a HUGE difference in both my musical theatre and classical students!
Thank you Madeleine. I have never watched one of your videos that I didn't learn something. Something new, something helpful, something to make me better....
This is awesome! This really engages those muscles in my midsection. I have probably been belting wrong (since I don’t have an in person teacher) all this time. I heard singing is a very athletic endeavor. Thank you so much!
Madeleine, I love your channel. The videos are very helpful and you have a great talent for explaining things. Very sympathetic, wonderful, fantastic! I'm your very grateful follower.
I’m one minute in reading the comments and I’m so excited to see this video lol. I’m 24 I been singing for a long time and really really belting has always made me anxious but I know I can do it. I have literally had dreams where I’m belting and I can feel it 😂
This has definitely been a struggle for me. I got back into solo singing last July and I definitely need to work on my belting as I accompany myself on the piano and I struggle to be heard over myself. I'm definitely going to be trying these exercises
Lovely video but I can't belt higher notes to save my life. I go to head voice and to be honest it feels soooo much smoother and pleasant in my throat - but it's not a belt. :-( It is as if at a certain point my chest voice literally just doesn't want to go any further up and there is nothing I can do about it...
Wow, before when I tried, my throat was so tight and pressured but now my throat feels much better and I don’t sound like I’m getting choked or my throat sound really restrained.
I'm not sure I'm doing the first "hold the air with B sound" exercise right. I know how to push down on my stomach (I think diaphragm). Is it the same as that? I also found one other less intense sensation right above the stomach, like kind of between stomach and chest. But not sure about that feeling. Can anyone provide any more guidance? I'm really bad about finding the right body sensations or knowing if I have it right, but I'm determined and I've been working at this for many years.
Hey coach my problem is with holding the high notes, I can belt up to C5# but I can't really hold it for a long time and it's because I run out of breath so fast when I'm over the A4 , can you give me any advice that can help me with that
Add some compression, and release a bit slowly. You probably won't be at C5# anymore, maybe a step or half step lower but you will sure hold it longer, nice practice and take care buddy
This is partially related but I have a question. I have pectus excavatum, pretty mild, but I have a hard time using my sternum muscles to sing. Is it still possible for me to excel as a vocalist with this condition?
I would recommend doing diaphragm exercises to boost your support, since that's what I imagine you struggle with most. Breathwork exercises will also help. Practice holding comfortable notes (within your tessitura) for as long as you possibly can in rapid intervals. Both these tyoes of exercises are readilt available right here on RU-vid. I recommend the Aussie Vocal Coach for vocal power, agility and sustenance exercises. I hope my advice helps you in some way!
exaggerate air pressure like doing heavy mouth gulping before belting live? afterwards if the belt is done halfway through concert and shes lara fabian or perrie edwards would she be breathing real hard through mouth? or just cant do belting as powerful as she could in studio? example lara fabian i will love again.
Hello Madleine thanks for your great lessons. I have a question about vocal range. I think I am a mezzo as a colour of my voice, but because of my range I suppose I am a alto as I have no sound at all after a Bb5, and even at a A my sound is not consistent. Does it mean that these are my physiological limits?
Is this in head voice? If so, it may be possible that you aren't feeling head voice properly. I am a tenor and I can barely get out a B5 (I literally sound like a squeaking mouse up there). It feels like I'm forcing mixed voice higher than I should, is this what you're feeling?
@@stevengrantofthegiftshop1549 it is in my head voice. After Bflat 5 I am voiceless comoletely. I just wanted to know if someone has the same expérience of no sound at all qfter a certain pitch
Dear teacher, unfortunately I ve already watch soooooooooo!@@@@ many videos; yes you can do it in a minute...many - except extraordinary teachers and vocals couch ...show exactly" the same ; few demontration that really work - less few, but a great " bla, bla, bla...that include " anatomy" classes...😢 and all kind of " Natural Geogra😂phic" animals sounds; without result ..please....😅😢😢 I like this one, thanks.😅
