***** I'm not sure about your comment? Are you against zoology? If so, you only see one side of the story. I too do not like the idea of keeping animals in captivity, we as creatures should live where we should live. But look in the real world, human don't live where they belong and more and more have invaded the animal space. With pollutions, with hunting threats, do you think the real habitat for the animals is out there and fit for them? Some animals might even appreciate of being in the zoo. I don't know, and you don't know until we can find somebody who can talk to animals. Like everything else, there are always at least one side of the story. If you want to blame the zoo-people, don't forget to blame people who destroy animal habitats.
+Truth Ministries Uhm...if you're talking about dogs, then you are so far off base. Domesticated dogs desperately need human interaction, including verbal, with their owners. As for animals in captivity, I'm not expressing an opinion here one way or another, but I'm quite certain you are wrong about life expectancy. To my knowledge they live longer than those in the wild due to a constant nutritious food source and medical care.
My two kids have grown up doubling their ages from the time of this video. Yet, their loves for animals are still intact, and that is the real message of this video. I love how they had a "beautiful" impression of the Beluga whales despite the fact that they looked a bit scared by the whales.
+cosmicdebris42 I've been born and raised in Connecticut my whole life and visited Mystic Aquarmium multiple times. They don't make shows out of these belugas. Any shows are just a bonus. It's part of the fact that it's not just an aquarium. It's a conservation center. The belugas are there so that unnatural threats that occur in the wild anyway don't get them. And all things considered, the whales have done fine in the aquarium.
Whales should not live like a prisoner, and you can tell your kids, what freedom is, or do they live in a cage? Do not support that, with buying tickets for that cruel show!!!!!
It looks like 3 kids playing together! Especially when you see the other whale! The one playing with the kids looks like a youngster, too! So cute! Thanks for sharing this!
Unless those specimens happen to like captivity. If I look at the sociopolitical situation in the human world, belugas must be more intelligent than humans then. I wish more humans loved freedom, but many don't even understand what that is.
Ok, I've come to the conclusion cousin Juno just loves kids. He seeks them out. He'll bypass the adults & head straight for the kids every time. Even his handlers say he likes the kids and is playing with them. He's the only beluga there that does this.
I'm not gone lie. I laughed. And you're son was so cute saying "he's a beautiful whale" so cute. But thank god for that glass. Loved the editing though "he waited and counted" that was hilarious. I still don't believe animals should be kept. But unfortunately once they are, it's hard to undo the years of damage or should I say "training and care" that was done to them.
I work there. We actually don't train them to do tricks. We teach them things that LOOK like tricks, but are actually used in husbandry. No, not the cultivation of husbands. These "tricks" actually train them to be prepared for common visits from vets to check on their well being!
Lol at how u say "no not cultivation of husbands" though. K. I still don't like the idea of animals not being in their natural habitat. But..... Oh well.
Okay then, how else would you have children learn about these animals, besides reading about them in a book? Having them in their natural environment would be a logisical nightmare trying to get kids a quarter the way across the world (or at least it's a quarter where I live).
A Lot of people seem to think that the whale opening it mouth like that is a form of play. That is NOT PLAYFUL behavior its a THREAT display those kids are provoking it. Belugas are very friendly but they can be VERY territorial and that display is called jaw popping. Its a beluga way of saying" get away from me or i will bite you."
Precious the belugas is actually playing with her. He/she like the reaction. So intelligent. I wish it was in the wild. Stuck in a tank isn’t a life for any creature.
The beluga is actually expressing aggression, its kinda sad. Of course the visitors can't know that. For them its a beatiful experience and seems to be playful, but the sad truth is that the beluga is actually trying desperately to tell them; leave me alone.
Sebastian Freitag Wow! Really? I didn't know you could read the minds of Beluga whales! Oh wait, you can't. You couldn't possibly know if it was playing or not. Good Lord.
Belle Oceans Hello. I did took my time to search for this video all around google because I wanted to know what this behaviour of the beluga whale means and ended up on websites of marine biologists explaining exactly that and more. Since, you know, everything inside the ocean is their speciality. People should always do their research. And if success, we should spread our wisdom with one another. Thats exactly what I did. But then, on the other hand, there will always be people that just shut their eyes and ears. If it did bother you so much, you could have looked up what this behaviour of the whales means yourself.
balugers are so nice theyre ever so friendly and curious and playful and they make friends w/ other kindsve whaels and dolphins and porpi and things and narwhal and they whistle and chirp and sing a lot 💕
Braden Haggart those who where capture have spent more than 20 years under human care, that's an important fact, we are not talking about animals that were capture a few years ago... They are unable to survive in the wild. The NOAA doesn't allow their freedom because it goes against their welfare and against wildlife itself and CITES doesn't allow the capture of wild animals for zoos in America and Europe since long time ago.
We can't talk about a successful released until a few years have pass... in this case things aren't going too well: m.koreaherald.com/view.php?ud=20171217000154#cb This happened in South Korea because Asian countries in generall have none or very bad laws of animal welfare so you can do whatever you want with an animal and nothing happens... it doesn't matter if you are capturing a wild dolphin or sending to the wild an animal unable to survive by its own. But thankfully this cannot happen in Europe and America
These poor whales should be relocated to the SeaLife Trust Beluga Whale Sanctuary in Iceland. There are already 2 beluga whales there living freely in a large sea pen and being cared for and there's room for 8 more whales. These amazing creatures aren't ours to exploit for profit. They should be swimming freely in the ocean or at least in a sanctuary where they don't have to swim with people or do stupid tricks to entertain the public. These animals aren't slaves to the human race, but our fellow beings on the planet that deserve respect and their dignity.
The reason this whale:Juno opens his mouth when they touch the glass is because a taught behavior is to get their inside of their mouth stroked. trainers do it with Orcas and dolphins they all seem to like it. I like his swagger though lol
the way its absorbing information show just how beautiful and majestic this creature is. Sad to see it in captivity its probably trying to hurt those kids. Its a smart creature in sure its alot more conscious of its suroundings that 80% of your everyday ppl
#free the whales these is cruel .. They belong to the ocean not a pool people for more beautiful you think this is they do belong to the ocean ... Not a big pool
you should not get mad about that, they dont keep them in there for entertainment they are trying to help the whales survive and most go back into the big blue ocean
im not mad im just saying facts. they do belong to the ocean... its aight help them but also as soon as they good let them go that's all im saying.. not keep em in a pool.
Roxanna Cruz Roxanna, you are 100% incorrect. The Mystic Aquarium does NOT release those animals. Moreover, you see the mouth opening the white whale was doing? That is what it does when it feels threatened. You need to get your facts straight.
