It's something people do when they're frustrated and feel that no one is actually understanding and processing what they are saying. To me, he seems incredibly frustrated with the way many view Muslims today. Both sides were cherry picking stats, but the idea of putting numbers to people can be misleading. The point they brought up with using stats to represent black people and criminals is an excellent point. If we just look at the numbers, it would tell us that the stereotype that black people tend to be criminals is true, a point that is glossed over. This is dangerous thinking and is what leads to the generalization of people rather than understanding them. I think he was struggling to make such a point, and felt that no one was understanding him, and that's why he kept talking over them. It wasn't right, but I understand his feelings I think.

Criticising a religion is not demonising of its followers. They're vastly different things. Criticising a belief is no different than criticising political beliefs, it's all a matter of opinion therefore it should be able to be criticised. He isn’t on a lot of things. He’s looking at it wrong, I haven’t met a muslim who supports isis or terrorism in general and I grew up 40 mins away from mecca. Also, Islam having the punishment for apostasy and adultery being death is true, although I don’t believe its practiced anywhere but banana republics. The way that people should look at it is, that muslims are just simply more religious than most, and one of the reasons for that, is that muslims generally come from countries that are either in war or poverty and people from those backgrounds are usually more religious or radical (think medieval europe). Because if you look at these punishments they’re identical to whats in the Old Testament. Islam in itself isn’t uniquely violent as a religion, but muslims are uniquely religious if that makes sense. And just to clear something up, terrorism has never been permitted in islam, and if you look at islamic history, there’s really nothing similar to whats going on today.

Are you incapable of comprehending that there might be nuance to the idea of freedom for anything? Like maybe we draw the line for freedom at when you cut peoples heads off in public for having opinions you don't like, or because of their religion or sexuality or political affiliation being different? Most muslim countries have little respect for freedom: blasphemy is punishable by law and the scripture supports this.
