I kinda like the idea that Albedo turning full on bad guy in Omniverse was the result of losing it in the dream world. Like after this he's passed his breaking point.
I actually feel really bad for Albedo like he was mentally tormented from fighting ben. I actually really like Albedo as a villain in omniverse but he literally never recovered from this. I would have mercy on him
Episodes set in Dreams or Illusions tend to be my favorite, as not only do the writers get a free pass to make the craziest and most improbable scenarios, it also allows us to see the mindset of the characters.
Hex Hitchhiking is just funny. And its even more funny if you think that Charmcaster had just decided to cut her uncle off from using Magic due to how she's the ruler of Ledgerdomain. As he was abusive to her for so many years that cutting him off from magic for a bit seems possible. And thinking about it now, I can just see Hex flying back to his castle before suddenly falling to the ground Loony Toons style.
I love the contrast between how much Ultimate Kevin's design has going on compared to how clean Anodite Gwen. I also never considered their shared struggle with humanity against their powers, that's so interesting
This being a dive into Albedo’s mind is such an interesting way to look at the episode, because it really goes into his mental struggles “Not worthy of the watch” - He wasn’t worth of the Omnitrix, so he made is own But even then his version and his “improved” version of it, The Ultimatrix, was taken from him He wasn’t worthy again - The whole talk about friends abandoning Ben, could be a subtle hint at what happened to Hugh, Swamps, and Chills Albedo most likely snapped and caused them to leave, or he left and is just projecting that they abandoned him - And with the final scene with Dream Ben beating him and then Albedo being presumably pummeled by Ben’s Aliens That could represent the fact, no matter what he can’t escape Ben He’s just everywhere/ a constant in his life now, and it like he’s just constantly being beaten by the fact of “Ben is better, Ben is worthy, and I wasn’t” And we don’t know how long the Dream Eater thing was on him, so they could’ve been just on repeat for a long time - Albedo is such a interesting character because he really could’ve just been A grumpy ally or someone who just wants to be left alone if he was given a “good day”, but ever since making a fake Omnitrix his life just keeps pushing him down and down no matter what he tries to do
In all honesty, yeah, Albedo's life, ever since he met Ben was a constant downhill, even if you acknowledge the things that Omniverse introduced, because then you have Azmuth going into exile and cutting all contact, while _still_ not being deemed worthy of the Omnitrix. And re; him snapping at Hugh, Swamps and Chills... that could have very well happened, because Hugh IS responsible for the fact that Albedo is forever stuck in Ben's form, the reason why the trio went and interfered with his machine, meant to fix him. And yes, I know that in the moment, he did jump to blame Ben, but after calming down... I could see him realizing that his so-called friend literally ruined his best chance to escaping his prison.
I feel like this episode shook up the normal dream episode formula in a big way that _hasn't_ been pointed out in the comments yet, because the dreamer was having a dream from the perspective of another person, and that's entirely realistic.
I really like how in omniverse albedo just accepted the fact that he's the "bad guy" and just went straight down the wrong path bc of what happened to him
I'm kinda surprised this got a full breakdown but I won't complain. One of the weirder but cool episodes, even if it is kinda similar to one we've had before in the original.
I actually guessed "Dream World" as the reason for the situation when I first saw the episode as it was airing.... the use of "Nightmare" in the name, as well as Ben experiencing one at the start were the big clues that led me to that conclusion. The Albedo twists, however, caught me off guard for sure.
I’m so glad this episode got a full breakdown instead of a quick one This one has always been one of my favorite ultimate alien episodes for some reason It’s always resonated with me in a weird way Edit:also I’m very disappointed in Kuro for not saying *YOU BASTARDS* After ash said “oh my god they killed Kevin
I still feel it's unfair to say Omniverse's take on Albedo is a drastic departure. In his debut and the Alien Force he's also doing some moustache twirling. He does a lot of taunting, and posturing.
Heck his plot for this episode is pretty damn evil! We only feel sorry for him cause it did it to himself on accident but Albedo was gonna do that to ben. They also act like Albedo has zero emotional nuance in OV which is upsetting. From his flashback moments, to him legitimately critiquing Azmuths behavior, and even his little pass off comment on finding being called evil "hurtful."
@@ahmed4363 they do sound like taunting remarks at face value, but I think a part of him still contemplates the morality of his choices before the resentment of his situation kicks in.
not really. uaf albedo did a bunch of douchie moronical stuff but he still felt like he had grasp on his mind. whereas ov albedo feels literally insane, almost cartoonish. you could say this episode is what lead to his insanity but the fact that they never even mentioned it in ov is what makes it unnerving.
I think this episode serves as a view into Albedo's "acceptance" to his new role. He's too far gone into the ben form to possibly escape being tied to ben's identity, that he loses his own and becomes entirely dependent on ben as a character, leading to his obsession with being the "anti-ben"
Didn't think this episode would get the full review treatment over Catch a Falling Star or Couples Retreat. Nevertheless, it's still a really fun episode. That ending for Albedo is both the saddest and funniest thing i've ever seen.
The funny thing is albedo is a whole conduit to this episode as they said, albedo is the evil ben gimmic which is albedo's greatest nightmare - being trapped as ben. It's so perfect
"Stop thinking Tennyson, you're no good at it" I love how insulting that line is, and how easily it can applied to basically any online argument. Sure, it'd just inflame the argument, but still easily applied.
Feel so good knowing that people still love and watch this epic series which was a true part of our all’s childhood. Love to Ben Tennyson and all his fans ❤❤❤
This episode (minus gwen and kevin being in his room) actually works better in reverse. - Albedo breaks into Ben's room, goes to put the alien on his head but slips on the smoothie and is caught by his own weapon - Ben wakes up from the noise and calls Kevin & Gwen because he doesnt want to risk touching whats on Albedo's head nor fight Albedo alone if it is a trick - Episode plays out as normal from beginning, but instead of Ben its Albedo
I just realised how much it looked like Albedo is about to be bullied with the way he is huddled in the corner the fact all the aliens are walking to him the way they are and the fear in his eyes he was bullied when he was young I’m calling it now
Realy enjoying your breakdowns Kuro each time Realy feels like watching the episode for the first time with all the details caring you're giving from animation to story to taking down your own opinion to give the episode the best and most fair score Just want to ask if you're going to do a total score for each series to see which one got the most (combining all the scores from each episode)
Oh thank god we got a full breakdown for this episode. And we got ash back! 25:23 I love that reaction. Mind blown. Has to take glasses off to process XD
I Really Like this Episode,It’s a Great Dream Episode with Alot of Unexpected Twist and Builds Up Albedo Going Mad and making things Personal to Ben in Omniverse.
The ultimatrix sticking to goop after he got ripped apart was good but I’m still a little disappointed he didn’t mentioned the part in vengeance of vligax part 2 where goop’s little ufo busted through swampfire’s chest and you see the entire omnitrix core fly out
I'm convinced in the theory that Albedo was always a crazy psychopathic man-child that he enjoys the attention given to him by Azmuth and Ben considering he does things like this instead of trying to turn back to normal clearly he has the brains of Galvan but mind of a child is there any wonder why Azmuth turned him into one instead of his Galvan form
Dude was trying to vouch for Azmuth in front of a very erratic malware in OV! yeah he was still a arrogant snob but nothing about albedo screams psychopath to me, there's a clear enough progression of his form and failures making driving him off the deep end. Though hell maybe that was azmuths reasoning I dunno.
@@GreaterGrievobeast55 That's how it all started in the first place he asked Azmuth for an Omnitrix not trusting a human in having one and because he was told no and Azmuth firring him and out of pure pettiness he built one despite knowing half the risk and tried to steal bens by force when he realize he couldn't change back to his original all of this was his fault but he refuses to accept responsibility for it and his love of Chilli fries isn't because of ben he really like them and has no self control, so basically he's a junk food eating, rebellious, irresponsible man-child who's dad told him no and is punishing him for disobeying him
I remember talking about this particular Ben 10: UA episode before and how it is similar to the classic Ben 10 episode, " Perfect Day". There was also an episode of the Ben 10 reboot where Zombozo entered Ben's dreams and it scared Ben so much that he became Overflow and flooded The Rust Bucket on the inside! Ben did say that he turns into his alien forms when having a nightmare and now I saw it for myself! Also, Overflow reminds me a lot of Waterhazard although he looked a lot different in the fan arts where he is like Goop except he's a living mass of water! Word of warning, THIS IS BEN'S HEAD AND HIS RULES!!! Pinkie Pie: THAN DO MORE! THIS IS A DREAM REMEMBER?
Yes I been waiting for this episode breakdown this is one of my favorite episodes and I truly appreciate that ink tank made it a full episode break down instead of one of those 5-minute rust-bucket breakdowns Thank you ink tank
On the “talking to yourself” part, I do the same as ORAsh as well, very much a Neurodivergent stimming “I need to verbalise my thoughts so I can actually remember wha I’m thinking” Also, if the Celestial Capians can cannonically mess with the shows art style and character design, why could they not mess with the writing? My theory (A FILM THEO-) is that the celestialsepians have beef/dislike towards Prisoners species, and made it so that they get done dirty in the show
Albedo is my favorite Ben 10 villain because of how much they fleshed out his character in this show. He was just a tiny little Galvan who was stepped on by Azmuth, impaired his DNA with Ben's and other alien species, and he just wanted to become normal again. Yes, Omniverse went to the whole goofy villain cliche but he was literally driven to insanity because of this episode. Plus I would love to have his red jacket and gray pants as a regular outfit
30:51 he kinda mentioned that in "A fistful of brains" during his dialoge with Ben and also kinda mentioned in the same episode where he send to Rook and Max video message
Imaginen que como en un día perfecto hubiésemos visto a gwen y Kevin entrando al sueño de ben (albedo) solo para descubrir que solo eran parte del sueño de albedo
I wish that albedo was like the antihero and we had more episodes like this other than the episode in omniverse where he tries to give up being a villain but just is permanently into 10 year old Ben
I always thought this episode was really good. And brought back some cool concepts like having Ben in a nightmare sequence again just like the classic series.
I feel like this episode shook up the normal dream episode formula in a big way that _hasn't_ been pointed out in the comments yet, because the dreamer was having a dream from the perspective of another person, and that's entirely realistic. Albedo is dreaming as Ben, or at least, that's how I interpreted it. Albedo's mind is trying to take back a semblance of "worthiness" that he believes that Ben stole, and there's an identity crisis going on there too...
The story of reminds me of something happened in the Archie sonic comics. And I could see the reason being similar to albedos switch in Omniverse. In the comics sonic beats egg man so bad he starts going insane, however, after a couple issues he embraces his insanity and becomes a more terrifying villain. And I feel like the same sort of thing could be said for albedo
i love ash goes on a breakdown too i think his next breakdown is gonna be tummy trouble on omniverse beacuse the episode it's about upchuck homeworld he loves upchuck soo much
Ben 10's version of For the Man who has Everything. Of course, Albedo's nightmare space would be this overly complicated, it's a metaphor for his character. This episode could also be viewed as his true villain origin story
21:49 Really? I swear he shown up two more times before having his "blossoming" episode 24:26 I figured Chamalien was like that because it was just an copy of Prisoner 775, since the ultramatrix doesn't scan an new prime version of the alien, hence him and the andromeda 5 looking like themselves than Ben
Probably the strangest thing about the episode are details after the reveal of "This was all in Albedo's head . The details like "So, exactly how Albedo knew about Agreggor, Julie and Ship's armor form, Ultimate Kevin or Gwen's anodite form? I mean, sure, arguably Agreggor and Ultimate Kevin would be known by EVERYONE who knows about aliens, and got a warning through news or something (Especially when he Went into a revenge spree and then into Absorbing random people's powets offscreen as the trivia said). Maybe he knew about Julie through the news Even saw her in mecha form once. But Gwen's anodite form? Either Albedo secretely keeps tabs on Ben, or they had encounters offscreen
Did nobody else notice how small Julie’s house was the fact her tv was on the ground the lack of a couch and how Kevin’s garage was hug when in reality it isn’t much bigger than his room times two shows the mental stat and view Ben has on the world around him and his friends also the fact Colfax didn’t talk was showing the way he believes he is silent
Wait didn’t Albedo tell Ben why he still was a villain right before he turned into an ultimate version of himself? I mean literally said something like “oh, so I’m just suppose to forget the imprisonment? The humiliation? The ugh chilli-fries?” To which Ben responds with “uh yeah, chilli-fries are awesome. Get over it dude.” Then Albedo says “oh I am over it dude”. Doesn’t that mean that Albedo did explain why he’s still a villain?
Honestly with their idea of "Albedo never recovered from the mental torture of the dream eater" I feel like importance should at least be a 3. Like, you can skip it if you want and you'd still be fairly happy with Omniverse, but if you don't skip it you can see more justification for Albedo going insane in Omniverse.
I will say this episode was surprisingly dark and downright scary even at times, but the twist that it was all Albedo’s (the chili fries loving guy) doing kinda made it much less scary for me.
Someone in the comments asked how Albedo knows about Aggregor, Ult. Kevin, Julie, and Anodite Gwen. If the Omnitrix/Ultimatrix is connected to Ben's mind, and Albedo is connected to Ben's Omnitrix, maybe Albedo's and Ben's minds are connected too; at least on a subconscious level. Kinda like Supergirl and Powergirl in Justice League Unlimited.
not sure saying ben cannot remember what is on kevin's wall does not make much sense since he has been shown to be able to memorize the glowing letters from a glance on the door to anywhere. but for albedo not knowing yeah that makes sense
I wonder if the Galvan doctor line from Gwen is foreshadowing for Omniverse having two Galvans as regular characters as part of the Plumber HQ staff. If Blukic and Driba did operate on Albedo then brain damage is definitely likely.
I feel Like the reason others villains And People fight Ben before Albado himself is because of his own feelings of self worth. The constant defeat at the hands of Ben made him not Want to face him Until the end.
