Aly Ndiaye Rose is my primary teacher of Senegalese drumming. I started my studies with him back in 2010. His influence on my playing is enormous. I could only have developed my drumming style with his guidance and patience. My most profound experience here in Senegal is simply sitting with him at the beach and learning for hours. In this video, joined by his cousin Moustafa, we play a composition based on the Ndjouk rhythm, which belongs to the Serere ethnic group and its wrestling tradition, the Laamb.
