I'm glad Ben admitted that $2500 was a stretch for him. He's just a regular guy, after all...not Dr. Dre! It makes his love for vinyl that much more legit and shows he's serious about it.
@rfld9186
@rfld9186 5 лет назад
Paying several hundred dollars doesn't mean you're serious about records or that you're a digger, just means that 1) you have the money to buy those records on eBay and that 2) you don't take time to properly dig to find in-demand records at low prices and maybe trade them (for the records you're really after), for example.

@Jason Lee and, in theory, you can always sell it -worst case scenario. possibly even make a profit.

I wasn’t particularly interested in LPs when I started collecting singles and felt a bit awkward about it when I was younger, but watching this video and reading Ben’s Dustandgrooves interview made realise it was alright to be more into singles than LPs

This is by far the most interesting Crate Diggers I've seen great 45's/singles, and I'm actually more into LP's but awesome nonetheless.

At first I thought, "who the hell is this guy?" But he clearly really knows his stuff and is playing a part in vinyl's ongoing success. Cool that Fuse isn't just sticking to hip hop guys too.

One very rare record is Joe South's Completely Unreleased "Riverdog" it would be a 45 Single recorded in the 70's The Label wouldn't release it because the exec believed South Mentioning "cosmic sea" was "too psychedelic" and sounded too drug influenced. It's a great and soulful cut track.

An interesting choice, as was Hank III. If the series is going to report on collections outside hip-hop, maybe Quentin Tarantino. Apparenty, he's apparently a massive digger. If FUSE wants to go trans-Atlantic - I'd love to see Andrew Weatherall, Vadim or Amon Tobin. If it's going back to hip-hop - Madlib, Q-Tip, RZA and Shadow fersure.

dont like LPs? search for the track? the point of a good LP is to enjoy the album as a whole, especially a concept album. lets say the wall by pink floyd you cant judge the album unless you listen to "the album", not hear the songs in random order. to me, 45s are ONLY collectibles and/or for bands you only like a few songs by.i have plenty of pink floyd singles but i wouldnt ever play them when i want to sit down and listen to music. i like singles but im always looking for amazing albums.
