Do you want to swap desks Ben? 😁 Samashing video, I don't think we tell you enough how much we appreciate & enjoy your videos & the amount of time you must put into making them Ben.
The matchbook about the Townsend Plan is interesting. I have a booklet describing the Townsend Plan and that it was the first attempt in 1935 to pass a Government Plan to keep seniors out of poverty after they retired. It described how seniors would rely on the Townsend Plan to supplement a company pension plus a person's savings in their golden years.
That "Canal" piece (12:30) is an Order of Eastern Star (OES) pin, the women's organization appendant to Free and Accepted Masons. P.W.M stands for "Past Worthy Matron." Worthy Matron is the highest office in your local Eastern Star Order. Following service in the Worthy Matron post, these pins were awarded. The 50-60s were probably the high point of membership in the USA (and Territories) for Masonic Lodges, Easter Star Orders, Job's Daughters, and DeMolay Chapters. The latter two formed as appendant youth organizations.
I love these kind of videos. Lot's of random and interesting items. I drive for a living and there is a coin shop in Evansville, Indiana that I love going to for this exact reason. I know where to look to find his random cool things.
Gee Ben - that's what i call a cornucopia of accumulated items. So much to like. What else you got hiding or tucked away for our enjoyment? Maybe you should give us a tour of a behind the scenes look at your store. What's behind the two way mirror behind the west showcases ???? Thanks really enjoyed this video.
3:35 I've spent the last two years trying to buy anything South America It has been hard for as long as I've been collecting my world silver which is 5 years. But it was the one thing that was light in my albums that I started focusing more on. Even modern stuff's hard to come by apparently nobody gave it any value and must have just melted it away
I have a 79-S Morgan in a PCI holder that I’ve had for 30 years that was white when I bought it, but has nice rainbow toning now. Maybe it’s the holders?
@@bobsilver3983 I can see why its art backed up by the value of the metal. The price you pay for the Art is subjective so the skys the limit art wise. What if one turned up with Washington on it and from a known maker of the time?
Ben, you used Coin Care, Blue Ribbon on a large cent. I went to find it on your link which doesn't work anymore. Have a few questions... I found it on Amazon. It looks like it's in an ms70 container. Is it ms70? Question 2... will that get rid of that green corrosion? I have no ideal if it's etched into the coin, but at the same time, don't want it to spread. 3... it's only for copper, correct? Thanks and hop you didn't mind me leaving thus here as I don't know if you would look at a 4 yr old vid
I don’t think it’s made anymore. Or it’s been rebranded and just not for retail. I know it’s expensive as all hell. And no, don’t use Ms 70 on copper unless it’s absolutely fresh out of a proof set or mint set, actually just don’t use it on copper. Try it on different copper coins and condition with no value. You might think wow, but it can create unnatural toning. It’s not appealing if you’re aware it’s from ms70 and whatever is already on the coin. Bright pink, or dark purple. Can ruin an already attractive subtle toned cent. Although some people do it and call em monster toners. 😐. I’ve never had the blue ribbon so can’t speak to how it works. I believe the chemical compound is 1,1,1 trichlorathane. Nasty stuff, probably why it’s no longer available. Science.
East India Company Gooberment coinage.. wonder when we can expect to see Google Company, or Alphabet Company Gooberment issued coinage...may as well right ?!
5:57 well there's a little hope when it comes to pleasure and that was the whole advertising campaign when we were children. I ended up growing up smoking only to quit in my twenties That's only because I started when I was tired and a chemicals they were putting in them were getting worse. The same anti-flammable chemicals they use and mattresses is what they put in cigarettes so you don't burn your house down and die.
