This clip illustrates Romeo and Juliet falling in love at first sight as their dialogue mimics the structure of a sonnet.
The British Council and the English-Speaking Union welcomed Ben Crystal as part of the English Language Council lecture series. This 2014 lecture marked the 450th anniversary of the birth of William Shakespeare.
The guardian of English poetry, the inventor of over 1,000 words still in use today, and one of the greatest players with our language, Shakespeare has given us a treasure trove of English to read - funny how so much of it doesn't make sense until it's spoken out-loud.
Actor and author Ben Crystal explores the accent, the theatrical conventions, and the world of Shakespeare, to reveal a bright and beautiful English. With Jennifer Jackson & Aslam Husain.

I LOVE his laying out the actual meaning and DIRECTION of the lines. Shakespeare as it really WAS "meant to be spoken/acted/etc."

Just watched your, "Queen's English" video that you did for the Shakesperean Trust Group. Funny. Very, very funny. I would even like to suggest that perhaps you consider doing a video sketch pitting a younger vs older Elizabeth II against, one another. Inspiration for my video idea: If you can.....find a copy or search online for the 1968 or 1969 royal family 'documentary' featuring England's current royal family. Pay particular attention to how QEII used to speak back then vs. how she speaks, today. My guess is that at some point she employed a voice coach to further refine her 'speech' or that over time she's come to realize nobody speaks like that anymore. Perhaps she also realized she had to change in order to appeal to a much wider and more worldly audience than in the past. I'd say the above video gave a better representation of the older vs newer versions of English than in your other video, "Speaking the Bright and Beautiful Shakespeare OP vs RP". Interestingly enough many American's thought Princess Diana spoke more 'high brow' / posh English than, the royal family does.
