I’m a little girl that grew up in Detroits north west side. I escaped to my dads in a close second to the hood. After my dad abandoned me and I had no where to go, I went to your concert in Pontiac Mi. It changed my life!! So thank you for being exactly who you are!
Thanks allelluyah for the planet Earth really i'm 50 my son 16 years old i'm french sorry but i'm afraid for his future i hope that humanity will be best in french j'espère que vous soyez tous pour sauver la nature et l'humanité vraiment 😀😘
I know him since 1993,at the " Transmusicales de Rennes" in France,i saw him in 22 concerts & i can tell you,he's the best in every style of music for me....!!! :-)
ADS ? There are only 2 or three songs that make me cry , this is one of them . i’m 52 construction worker in NYC . the whole look tuff as nails . but this song can make me cry like a baby !! I love it !! I Don’t listen to it in public! lol
I love Ben Harper. But... my favorite version of this song every was an a capella version done by three opera trained ladies who called them selves the Cowgirl Divas. Just some random show at Rockwood Music Hall in New York City 8 years ago. That's one of the amazing things about this song, there will always be an amazing version that we get to keep for ourselves.
Спасибо Christophe Maé - я узнал об этом парне. Он просто бесподобен!!! Thanks to Christophe Maé - I found out about this guy. He is simply incomparable !!!
@Ben_Harper - I'm doing good, Ben, how are you doing and I hope you are enjoying music. Have a Merry Christmas and I hope this New Year's brings you blessings, healing and happiness. with ❤️, Kathryn oxo
Brother I saw you in New Zealand the last concert you had and you saw me in the crowd, all the crowd was white and I was a Brown Maori wearing a greenstone and you told the first 2 aisles to open up as I was in the 3rd row, once the opened up the 2 aisles I was facing you right on, you then said "Kia Ora Brother, i see you." You made my life completeas you are my Idol. Thank You Brother, may you live long and blessed. ,
I'm always amazed that there actually are 604 people who put a thumbs down to something like this. It's like they live in a parallel Universe (of shit). Just wonderful, Ben.
Beautiful interpretation of one of the best songs ever composed. Spiritually solvent message: to whoever has the wisdom, humble surrender of pride is a choice that facilitates an experience of reunification with the Godhead. 😌
it cannot be a choice, it would suppose that you give up something, in order to acquire something else, man knows how to be subtle, one more degree in greed, no the divine is you, it is us, there is nothing to search, just realize that you are already what you are looking for
The bass on this is something out of this world. A lot of different interpretations of a masterpiece of music, but the bass on this one gives it a very special and rare quality.
I have seen him so many times, I call it going to church because I leave with my soul feeling cleansed and refreshed. Come back to Detroit Ben Harper!! I named my daughter Harper because of you and your message❤❤️❤️
yes. "every breath we drew was Hallelujah". Sometimes our breath is a cry, a whisper, a desperate moan... nevertheless it is a Hallelujah. Thank you, Mr. Ben Harper for this touching interpretation.
Espectacular. Cher Mr Harper vous avez bercé mes 20 ans. Je vous ai vu à l'Olympia en 2006 Des frissons...Vous êtes le seul à m'arracher des larmes. J'espère vous revoir un jour sur scène.
While I never had the privilege of seeing Ben cover Cohen, his was the first show I attended with my wife at Bimbo's 365 Club in SF in 1994, and my daughter's first concert (at 7) at Oakland's Paramount on 11/10/07. I've only had the honor of speaking with the man himself backstage at The Warfield in SF in July of 1997 and it was special.

BEN HARPER I LOVE YOU SO MUCH!!!!!!!! THE ABSOLUTE GREATEST EVER!!!! My husband and i saw him last night in Toronto with Charlie Musselwhite (probably my 18th time seeing Ben live
I always get nervous when I see that someone has attempted a cover of this song. It’s pretty much an untouchable song since Jeff Buckley did his definitive version and Vince Jones’ version is equally brilliant, but Ben Harper cruises in and whips out some of his magic. Amazing!
@@matthewrochette6204 I think Nathan Kaye was saying Buckley did the version that became the definitive one. Like when Whitney Houston did Dolly Parton's 'I Will Always Love You' or when Jonny Cash did Trent Reznor's 'Hurt'.
@@BrianBrayMedia I totally agree. I just love the purity and sobriety of John Cale's version. To me it just captures the essence of the song. The beauty of that piano.
Excellent performance Ben Harper 👍 you gave me goosebumps as always 💯🤘 Thank you so much for another outstanding performance I love you my friend 🎹🎤👍🎶🎸🎵💞
Thank you for uploading this live performance. I feel much gratitude. Ben is a blessing in this world. A strong, creative, spiritual being, ever since he debuted with Jack Johnson. Ben, your music and performance are treasures. This interpretation of my other beloved, Leonard Cohen, is gorgeous and layered and Iathered in love.
wowzers: the 1st time i saw Ben Harper perform was when i was 19 years young. Now, at age 45, his musical artistry continues to touch the viscera of my Soul. Leonard Cohen & Jeff Buckley must me dancing in the Spirit realm when Ben shares this tune. When i was 25 & my birth mother passed away, Leonard Cohen's version of this song helped me move through my grieving process; when i was 30somethang, the week my grandfather passed away, Jeff Buckley's version helped me through my grieving; now at 45 yrs young, Ben Harper's expression of this song is supporting me through the loss of one of my many breast cancer sisters while thriivng through my own breast cancer treatment. Bless you Ben Harper >>>> you are healing so many people. Please never stop sharing your gift. One Love
If you can't tell, Ben Harper grew up spending every waking moment at his grandparents guitar store - this store is so highly skilled, his success isnt by accident.
