Ben is hands down my all time favorite musician. I've decided it just this moment, that above all of the great musical artists of my time Ben Howard is the greatest. I have so much love for *EVERY SINGLE SONG* ever performed by him. Worlds Finest Musician :D
You know how you like a song/artist and you continuously listen to them and eventually get over their music... I've been listening to Ben every single day for so long and he doesn't get old or repetitive. Music boner.
I can't remember who else played that night, but Ben Howard got under my skin and from then on i just couldn't shake him. He has a very special talent.
www.cornwalllive.com/mysterious-festival-band-a-blaze-of-feather-could-be-a-cornwall-supergroup-featuring-ben-howard/story-30223615-detail/story.html maybe we have luck this year (:
Tamen Thanks for the link. I've been following all the chatter re Blaze of Feather. Let's hope Ben is involved and, more importantly, he has indeed recorded his third solo album. Fingers crossed...
Favorite artist outside of rap, but still on my mount rushmore of artists of all time. I love how much passion he has for music. Such a good writer, insane guitarist, and can combine the 2 with such brilliance! My favorite quality of his is that he doesn't need to be overproduced to sound incredible, his live stuff sounds better than his studio stuff most of the time, and he sounds better and more complex than most bands with just him and his guitar.
+CagedBird TRUE :))I agree wholly with you. Me too I love his passion, how he performs on the stage, there is no faking in it....it is honest, unpretended, sincere...
Ben Howard probably has the best "like" to "dislike" ratio I've seen across youtube. Knowing that and hearing his music has restored a lot of faith in humanity for me
He needs to come out with a new album soon like please like all of these new songs, and old, are so awe-inspiring and just beautiful, and I can't even take it it's just like afkjhdsgkhs
Over these hills and valleys that I've seen is a young boy, I found shelter in the solitude, I found safety in the sea. And all these country lanes would twist and turn, young eyes would find, flicker in the darkness, then burn. Those were days so empty castles of concern when loved ones told me, that from disaster, we can always learn. In those hazy hours my mother would sit me down, said dont depend on tomorrow, cos tomorrow can sometimes let you down ...
I think the reason for that is that, in general, the people who look up his music (especially this song which isnt known to most, unlike 'only love') appreciate real music and people playing for them.
every song he does sends a shiver through me throughout the song he has taken music to a next level you cant compare anyone or anything to him, trully the best out there in my opinion one direction are nothing, nout !!
It's IMPOSSSSSIBLLLE. I don't care what anyone says, I can't decide in complete certainty between my favorite artists, Ben Howard and Adam Young. I may say one off the fly for any reason to simply convince someone, but I can't make up my mind. I have to be honest, I'm leaning towards Ben Howard slightly more than Adam, but it's still undecided, and that's probably how it'll be for eternity. They're both so awesome.
where' re these hills and valleys that i've seen as a young boy? i found shelter in my solitude, i found safety in the sea. and all these country lanes were twisting ?, young ? would find, flickering the darkness and burn. those were days so empty, a cast was a concern when loved ones told me from disasters we can always learn. in those hazy hours my mother was sitting down, saying "don't depend on tomorrow because tomorrow can sometimes let you down." are you ready, are you ready for this?
2x Oh are you ready, are you ready for this? Are you ready, are you ready for it all? Are you ready, are you ready for the changes? The changes to fall. No car and aeroplane rides oh, I saw the world here, with a brand new, a brand new set of eyes. But I met the devil at the crossroads, she was dressed in red, and her eyes were more beautiful than the stars. She laid my body down to rest under the bracken, and the moonlight, covered the moors. And I swear, there was music behind, every door.

Cause we all, we all, we all fall down sometimes We all, we all, we all feel the wings of tragedy We all, we all, we all see angels, angels in the hardest hours We all, we all, we all feel the wings of tragedy rush against us Oh are you ready, are you ready for this? Are you ready, are you ready for it all? Are you ready, are you ready for the changes, changes that fall ?"
@avliver close on the lyrics. A few mistakes and filled in the blanks you missed: "...and all these country lanes would twist and turn,Young eyes would find.... "No car and airplane rides, oh I saw the world here with a brand new set of eyes, I met the devil at the crossroads she was dressed in red, and here eyes were more beautiful than the stars. She laid my body down to rest under the Bracken, and the moonlight covered the moors" Beautiful song!
Saw Ben last night. One word awesome!!!!! Like a younger ray lamontagne but much cuter and less grumpy (Ray better watch out). Hopefully he will be signed very soon. Kimbo*
@DERGIE95 CGCGCG :) its that tuning for all his songs, except everything, gracious, black flies (i think) and keep your head up which is standard tuning.
are you ready for a war? are you ready for changes, change as the fall? are you ready for this? are you ready for it all? are you ready for changes, change as the fall? no car and her old plane rides, oh i saw the world here. with a brand new set of high heels. i met the devil at the crossroads, she was just ? ? and her eyes were more beautiful than the stars. she led my body down to rest. ? and the moonlight covered the mourns. and i swear there was music behind every door. [Chorus].
well that was a really interesting story AlHobe23. It reminds me of one I've heard many many times before from many many people. Didn't we go through it all at primary school? Anyhow, glad to see your high horse is so much higher than mine, and no doubt you're a much better jockey too, I can't actually remember what I wrote that's made you cry so much? This guy's obviously really talented, maybe you should ask him if he wants to form a band seeing as you are the all seeing eye of rock n roll?
@DERGIE95 yeah sort of pal. tunings a bit out sort of, as in this video the capos on 3rd fret, but playing it in cgcgcg tuning with the capo on 3rd its too high. it may mean putting it on 2nd fret but i havent tried it yet. as for the fingerpicking and such things, i can play it, but its not accurate. close, but not close enough in my eyes. probably because this is a low quality video and i cant see properly how hes playing it :(
I imagine this song is about someone going to see a prostitute. 'I met the devil at the crossroads she was dressed in red, and her eyes were more beautiful then the stars ', 'I swear there was music behind every door', 'We all fall down sometimes', 'We all seek angels in the hardest hours'. Then again maybe it is just my tragic mind. Nice song though :)
Wrong! CGCGCG is not the tuning he uses in most of his songs. It's CGCGGc please don't spread things that aren't true. :) Keep your head up Is EADGAd --> not really standard tuning. Black Flies: CFCGGc Bones: #AFCGGc etc...
