This scene literally changed my life. I was so young and I decided at that moment to give up any spirit of hate. I am 50 years old now and I have never had hate in me again.
I'm 65 years old.My mom took me to see this movie when I was 7 years old.I cried back then and I cry even more now when I see this scene as well as the crucifixion scene and Jesus giving Judah water.,How I only wish that movies were made today with the same passion & respect that they were back then.Everyone should see this at least one time in their life.It will stop you in your tracks and make you think. After all these years I am still moved beyond words by how this has the ability to clutch at one's heart.Merry Christmas everyone and God Bless us all...xx
Talk about a movie with a happy ending!! A joyful and redeeming scene. Judah has his inner anger and torment literally exorcised from him by the example of Christ. He then returns to his home to see his Mother and Sister whole again. Their bodies cleansed of the dreaded Leprosy that left them ravaged. All were at Calvary on that fateful day of Christ's Crucifixion. Their faith and forgiveness were recognized and redeemed by a higher power. Few if any films hold a deeper meaning than Ben Hur. This glorious ending is perhaps the greatest in Cinematic History.
This is an epic portrayal of Christianity , the only hope of mankind . There is Love,Faith and Hope . And for Everyone who has kept the faith and fought the good fight there is the crowning and final reward.
you'd have to have a glass eye or a stone heart not to be touched watching this scene. it always gets me--one of the best scenes in all cinema--powerful, moving, shattering, touching, cathartic--and healing.
I cry every time I watch this scene this is the best movie ever won 11 Oscars well deserved although Stephen Boyd should've been nominated for an Oscar without Massala there's no BenHur the academy made a big mistake
The scene where he has his last words with Ben-Hur, after his "accident" with the horses, was surely physically demanding. I know that people have a difficult time watching it.
Benhur is the masterpiece picture of all times, a classic spectacular extravaganza ever made makes everyone who watches it cry, filled with kindness in their heart.

What a magnificent film ......have watched it soooo many times & yet it remains as fresh as the first time.....human emotions so vividly depicted. Charlton Heston is the BEST Judah Ben-Hur ever.
This 1959 version of Ben Hur is the best and most exciting of all versions (including the one with actor Rodrigo Santoro in the role of Jesus Christ) that has ever been produced and remains unsurpassed to this day. And this Soundtrack by Miklos Rozsa is impeccable.
I am in the Weehawken Public Library right at this moment watching this. I am doing everything I can to hold back the tears. I am not going to make it before the last scene of the shepherd herding the sheep past Mount Cavalry and then that last touch from the magnificent William Wyler - a closeup of the painting showing God's finger going to touch the finger of Adam.
The last scene of Gid touching Adam's hand (Michelangelo) was in the opening credits of the film, too. Whether William Wyler had anything to do with the use of Michelangelo's painting being used is unnown. The producer or the art director usually makes those deisions. But Wyler deserves the credit for how wonderful "Ben-Hur" was.He often joked that it took an Alsatian Jew (Wyler) to make THE movie about the time of Christ. Two other Jewish people, producer Sam Zimbalist and composer Miklos Rozsa also deserve credir for this film.
Hope and faith overcoming all odds , all trials and tribulations .That is the message of this marvellous film Goodness will always prevail .May there be everlasting peace on earth The hard work of the actors ,the director and the rest of cast will not be in vain
This movie scene made me shed a tear or tears,it was a defining moment in the entire movie, and I believed it actually won Charlton Heston the oscar for best actor,Man what a scene and movie
