Well, you certainly can use a partner, multiple if possible. search youtube for beginner steps, basic steps like whip, tripple steps etc. (see west coast swing online, or if you like their style, like this pro couple jordan and tatiana: jtswing.com ). You can also start with a friend, gender doesnt matter, choose which role you would like most (leader or follower) and stick to it a little bit. You can - and I advice: should - also learn the other role somewhat. Both need great, but somewhat different skillsets. Have fun on a great journey. Oh, one more thing: go to festivals or something like that - you can even try to get a teaching couple to visit your area. For that you can start a group on different social media, maybe even ask around a local dance school whatever. There are A LOT of people who like to try out stuff like this, but someone just needs to take the initiative and organize a little get together - and be a little patient! People will show, people will leave, but over a course of a few months you will have a small but solid core group of people who will allow you to form a little club - more money, to hire professional teachers etc etc ... ;)
