The first part of our week in Scotland and Wales. A great little scramble up Ledge Route . This was the only walk we managed in Scotland this year due to what i now know was a nasty chest infection so this nearly killed me but after driving over 500 miles it had to be done.

Nice one Austin, the classic ledge route, had my eye on that for a long time after watching Damon's upload's, the guy is a legend. Great vid really enjoyed it thank's for sharing, and with a chest infection, man i take my hat off to you, well done. All the best, look forward to more. Jim.

Cheers Jim . I really enjoy Damons' vids , no frills and a great guide . Really useful when visiting a place for the first time and a couple of his vids had me feeling nervous for him , great stuff. Ledge Route was worth the four days spent at the tent afterwards and the views of Snowdonia from it helped . It was the drive that killed me ! Cheers . Austin .

Such a long drive from Hant's, still like i said fair play doing Ben Nevis is tough when your well. The one for me, of Damon's is Tower Ridge, prob watched that ten time's, tried to kid myself i could do it, but after my scare on Scafell this summer i'm going to keep it real, but the Ledge route i should manage. Cheer's. Jim.

Glad you did the Ledge Route and fair play for cracking on when feeling like crap. Hopefully going to take the camper up to Scotland next year for some walking, camping and exploring. :-) Scott

Cheers Scott so am i . It wasn't too bad at the time , but boy , was i shattered. It just made me soooo slow . Definitely get yourselves to Scotland , it would be brilliant with Florence , the hardest bit would be deciding which stunning viewpoint to spend the night at . In a warm camper you could dodge the midge season as well . Planning an overnighter in the Black Mountains at the end of the month if you fancy it , we need to get used to the colder nights in time for winter : ) Austin + Lucy

Dodging the midge season is what i'm hoping for :-) Off to the Black Mountains this weekend in Florence but was also planning a overnight camp there. Would defo be up for meeting up. Let me know when your going and we can make a plan :-) Scott

I recommend the circular route (trails available on View Ranger) which is spectacular. Keep in mind it takes 9 hours to complete it and you will need a lot of energy for that hike. So far this was the most amazing hike I have done in the UK and not sure if there is another one that could beat this. It felt quite challenging and required careful navigation along the narrow parts. Apart from this hike I enjoyed getting up to Bryn Cader-Faner in Wales. Kinder Scout is also not bad but rather easy.

That looks so much more fun than the conga route I took up from Glen Nevis. Really quiet. Excellent. Oh and that ledge you had a cup of coffee on was spectacular.

Thanks, good little video. That desire from Marley to keep the pack together was palpable! But when you're both competent, separating your routes, and rendezvousing later, is the best way to each get the max out of the day. My Mrs & I did that on numerous Scottish scrambles/hikes, both confident in eachother's skills. Smiles

Thank you, yes Marley was always upset when we split up but he’d forget 10 seconds round the first corner lol . Definitely agree , sometimes we can all have our cake and eat it 👍

Wow, that sure was spectacular!!! I just walked up the normal route, the one most take, you called it the tourist route. Don't think I'd try your route now, getting too old and over the hill. Well done for completing the walk/climb.
@2FeetForward
@2FeetForward 8 лет назад
Thank you James , Hope you enjoyed your day . I must admit though , i think the tourist route is equally as demanding physically as it seems so much longer than Ledge Route . Either way it's still great to be the highest in the country ! Atb - Austin

Just catching up with all your vids Austin. As others have said, hats off for doing the Ledge Route when feeling like poo and when the weather changed. Nice touch at the end visiting the Three Soldiers. My Stepson Gary did just the same a couple of weeks back.

Awesome! Marley did not like you and Lucy splitting up when you went up the Ledge Route. What a beautiful place, but very scary! Saw when I Googled it that a 21 year old was killed up there 2 days ago. Stay safe!!
@2FeetForward
@2FeetForward 8 лет назад
Cheers David , Lucy said he whined for the next 10 minutes ! it 's a stunning place that's for sure . I had no idea about that lads recent accident , just Googled it myself , so sad . A young couple got caught in an avalanche there last winter unfortunately. This route is only a grade 1 scramble so nothing too bad if your ok with heights , as usual the gopros' wide angle makes it look worse than it is . There is a stunning video of this route in winter , filmed with a drone by a guy called Rob Johnson that's worth a look .ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-UPwA6p1r9uY.html

Thanks Jason , more poignant today as well . The Garmin is my old Oregon 400t and has never let me down even after being slung down various mountains on my mtb .This model didn't even come with O.S mapping (an extra £200 to upgrade now) . I know the current models have O.S maps and only cost £300 so i think a new one is on the cards soon. Atb -Austin

Thanks for the reply, myself and my partner have decided to get into hiking after a trip up Snowdon (pyg track) so I've been watching videos to get some tips and yours are up there with the best of them. Cheers J
