When I saw the show I also sat in the front row and Ben is literary the best actor of all time. At times you could see his entire body would shake and in his singing during the crying parts, you would hear the congestion that one gets when they are actually crying. Honestly the show was the most moving performance i would have ever imagined!
I am 61 years old..grew up in NYC...have seen a LOT of theater, including Angela Lansbury's "Gypsy" back in the day. Ben Platt in DEH gave the finest single performance I have ever seen. It was truly incredible. Singing hitting notes and crying all at the same time. Meryl Streep couldn't pull off what he did. Brilliant.
When I saw the show with him I sat in further towards the back for the first act, and switched with a friend to sit front row for the second act. During the first act I could see everything happening onstage and it was so incredible. There were 4 times where he looked directly at me and it got me so connected with Evan. During the second act I could see everything up close, from the blood vessels he popped on his face from crying so hard to the tear tracks in his stage makeup. It was truly a life changing experience to see such an inspiring performance.
Literally everyone who is able HAS to go see this show it is beautiful and moves your entire world in just under 3 hours and he is such a sweetheart and BEST MUSICAL 2017
Ben Platt is brilliant. I loved him in "The Book of Mormon" in Chicago, so I flew out to New York to see him in "Dear Evan Hansen" Off-Broadway, and he was incredible. I'm hoping to fly out for the Broadway production next year (it opens too late for me to try to see it this fall!). This was a fun interview!
I haven’t seen the musical in person 😏 but have pieced together the play Ben is phenomenal 🤩🤩 so funny 😆 handsome, gorgeous, love ❤️ love the songs and his voice so much and love him more 😍😍💋💋💋
I haven't seen the show yet and I'm planning to beg my parents when it comes to my town. I would beg them to bring me to NYC to see it today, but I kind of have to be in school... If I had my way I would see the show every single night, with the original cast. This is my all time favorite musical and I know that I'm going to sob throughout the whole thing when I see it. Well, I mean, I already sob throughout the soundtrack to be completely honest...
I forgot the exact quote but when he starts talking about his ticks and how he got them from playing Evan just made me so sad because I feel like he IS Evan or becoming him (it's not bad I swear but ya know)
I believe in an interview Ben Platt talks about having to go to some sort of therapy for being affected by playing as Evan and taking up some of his characteristics?? Could someone point me to where that interview is?
I don't know the specific interview, but I think he said he has to go to physical therapy because his posture in the show is terrible and he doesn't want to become a hunchback lol
everyone is saying to see the show, but last time I checked the tickets were a thousand dollars.and most of it is in new York and I'm in LA, so a world away. a million worlds away. also, I was kinda looking forward to conner being alive and gay, hut he died and Zoe got with Evan.... I just need to know the ending and I need £9,00. plez?
