It’s always the WRs that get the praise, notice how many come and go. The rape allegations keep him from getting credit. The greatest coach and qb combo in NFL history share the same era too. Ben has produced so many heart stopping moments. When the Steelers back him with a good defense it has resulted in a SB birth! Not too many fans talk about how Brady enjoyed a top defense during his time in NE. It’s typically just heaping praise on Brady alone. In reality the defense on those teams were more vital in my opinion. If the Steelers stay healthy and disciplined I can see them in the SB. OBVIOUSLY lol the draft can change things or the coronavirus.
@@jethroscooter7214 , we've been blessed with great receivers no doubt but without Ben throwing and our line blocking, they have been garbage everywhere else. Not because they suck but because THEY aren't as important to the TEAM as they like to think!
Big Ben is the only QB to ever: (1) Win 9 career games with a passer rating of at least 150.0; (2) Pass for 6 TDs in TWO consecutive games; (3) Win more than once with 500 yds passing & zero Int. and he did it 3 times; (4) Ave. 7.0 pass Y/A and start more than 50% of the schedule in all of his 1st 15 seasons in the NFL; (5) Finish with a winning record as a starter and start more than 50% of of the schedule including at least one 4th qtr comeback in 13 of his 1st 15 seasons in the NFL.
Thank you Ben for all your years of play with the Pittsburgh Steelers. You weren't just a joy to watch, you were absolutely amazing to watch. Yes you were that good. When Dan Rooney demanded to Bill Cowher and picked you , he knew you were going to be the next great one. He was right once again. You just had a natural God given knack for the position, like Montana, Marino, Unitas, Bradshaw. God given talent like ive never seen, like when you run left and throw right, and vice versa. A natural pin point deep ball like I have never seen. The way you manipulated defenses with your looks and pump fakes. Incredibly tough to sack. When you came along you were the final missing piece we needed for 20 years. I hope you come back, to a good defense and hopefully a run game. If you don't, thank you with all of my heart. Your a good man Ben, and tough as steel. God bless you and your family.
I can still remember his rookie year, coming off the bench. We did not win a Superbowl, but it was magical..Almost better than winning a Superbowl. We knew we finally had a quarterback!
i love ben but if he just trained with his natural talent, he would’ve been almost unstoppable. instead, this dude would nebervwatch film so he would pass hella picks. But u cant deny dat he was top 2 QBs to close out last drive plays to win games
Ben saved the day on Bettis fumble against Colts. Ben has been MVP many times but never was noticed by media. Ben goes and so does the Steelers. You can pick your QB I'll pick Ben.
I'm already a little sad that there might not be any football this year. But, watching this made me a little more sad to think the Big Ben era is winding down. Not just Ben, but the team. The stacked players that Ben has bad to work with over the first part of his career vs now. I really hope to see one more amazing season with Ben.
So with #1 anyone else notice that the score 20-23 adds up to 43, or that there was 43 seconds on the clock before the ball was snapped and that it was Superbowl 43? Illumanti!!!!
James Farrior is one of the most underrated players ever. Figure, Ray Lewis is considered possibly the best of all time at the position, and year after year, Farrior quietly put up similar numbers to Ray Ray. Lewis takes the edge, but Farrior is within arm's reach.
He's had so many great moments. But the one that sticks out in my mind was that winning 4 quarter comeback @ Dallas in his rookie season. I knew at that moment he was going to be a top NFL quarterback.
My best friend worked with Ben's stepbrother at Toledo University. After losing badly to Roethlisberger's Miami of Ohio team Keith met Ben. Roethlisberger told Keith that he wanted to play for the Steelers. Keith told me that if Pittsburgh gets Roethlisberger they will win a superbowl within 3 years. They did it in 2.
NOBODY thought Bettis would have fumbled that ball. He was never much of a fumbler anyways, but right on the goalline like that in a big game. Was a bread and butter play for him for years. Crazy tackle by Ben. Remember watching that game.
If Harper (who picked up the fumble) runs left/right of Big Ben he scores a TD. He probably thought that he was going to run over Big Ben, and Ben made him pay for it.
Everyone says that he is carried by the receivers and backs. This season just proved the opposite. Without Ben the offense collapsed. Ben is the heart of the offense. Imma be so sad the day he’s gone. Only a matter of time though. 😢
Very good list, i would of added the 3rd and 26 in super bowl XL that led to a TD or his block that let Randel El have a free range to throw a dime to Ward in Super Bowl XL. People think he played awful, which statistically he did, but he made a few clutch plays in that game that were a big difference in the outcome
He is the best "football player" at the QB position in this century & he makes big plays of all kinds to win games making him also the best play maker of this century.
Love Ben! I think he saved Jerome's career with that shoestring tackle. Jerome's retirement year. If that's how Bettis retires with that fumble, sadly that's what he'd be remembered by, but Ben's tackle saved that for him! Also, probably one of the most exciting super bowl finishes EVER! Most underrated QB in the league!
Jesse James screwed that up himself, in the height of the "what is a catch crisis" he went to the ground like an idiot. It was compounded by the arrogance of the Steeler sideline when instead of coming up with a contingency they stood around and planned nothing.
The highlight at the very beginning...I was at that game! My first ever Steelers game attending and still the only one I've been to up til now. Great memories. I was fucking sick at halftime though...
Big Ben is the king of 4th qtr comebacks. He is the only NFL QB to accomplish all of the following: Lead the NFL in comebacks in 3 seasons; Make at least 4 comebacks in a season 3 times; Make at least one comeback in each of his 1st 15 seasons in the NFL.
Aaron Rodgers has a long way to go before he is as complete and great as Ben Roethlisberger, anyone else says as it stands right now Ben Roethlisberger is much better than Aaron Rodgers.
Number 1 is the greatest 2 minute drive in Super Bowl history. That pass to Holmes was much more difficult than the Montana to Taylor slant pass (2nd best IMO 2minute drill)
That 2009 game when he bested Rodgers might be the greatest regular season game ever played by an NFL QB. 503 yds, 3 TDs, no interceptions (vs 2nd ranked D at the time) and threw the winning TDP on the last play of the game in a meaningful game to keep play-offs alive.
Still the best throw in a super bowl I’ve ever seen. Triple coverage (all of them 6’ or taller) behind Holmes (who is 5’10 in shoes), Ben wasn’t worried about that, he just gunned it to the one spot where his receiver could catch it and stay in bounds. That whole drive was crazy but that throw and catch are the absolute best I’ve ever seen. This is also coming from a chargers fan (yes I’m always disappointed)
They aren't winning another SB anytime soon I don't think. Not until they figure out New England. Pens have a better chance to three-peat than Steelers winning #7
If the Steelers had only turned him loose earlier in his career instead of only letting him “manage” games his first few years, this guy would be a legend by now.
I was watching that greenbay game on NFL play by play and my Computer froze at the 4 second remaining point..5 minutes later the gaint symbol TOUCHDOWN appeared on my screen.woah what a game
Ben has always been a top 5 QB in the league. The team is only as good as he plays. When he retires the team will drop to an average team unless they can get another HOF QB to play.
The halarious thing not many people know is Jan 14th 2006 Nick Harper's wife stabbed him the knee with a knife during an argument. The Steelers at Colts divisional game was Jan 15th, 2006 his wife was arrested, and Nick forced himself to play in that game. Nick Harper happened to be the guy who recovered the fumble, and Big Ben tackled ROFL.
Ben is the best. I don't care what others say, because they don't like the Steelers, but Ben has always been more clutch than any of them, like Brady and Manning. All those times, on 4th down and a mile, he makes the play.
I'm not a Steelers fan, far from it. I don't know how Ben survived some of those matchups with the Ravens. The best quote I think about that rivalry, to paraphrase, is that game shouldn't be played under the lights of a stadium. That game should be played in the back alley at night. The hits he took at time, even for a guy his size, were brutal. I still remember them having to fix his nose to make it straight. Then if he didn't throw it, theyd break the shoulder of the RB he handed it off to. Just nuts. Cant believe he played as long as he did.
Besides Big Ben the only other T-formation QB to be a winner and a top shelf performer in his very first pro season and go on to play at the highest level for at least 10 seasons & win multiple titles is Otto Graham who by any and all measuring sticks is still the greatest of all time. That's quite a duo to be a part of.
Was there ever any doubt that the super bowl against the Cardinals was going to be number one? That's such a defining moment, especially after that first super bowl appearance of his being less than stellar.
Keep in mind that Big Ben made a great pass in the other corner of the end zone right before the winning pass of which the "MVP" let go right thru his hands. He then gave the "MVP" ANOTHER chance in the right corner. Obviously, Big Ben was in reality the MVP of that super bowl.
Yeah Im with you. Ben is physically more talented than Brees ever was. Rocket arm, can shake off defenders and could run the ball on top of being completely clutch. If its the 4th quarter with a 1:30 left to go in the game and I need a TD to win, ill pick Ben over anyone, including Brady
Ben is a great quarterback. He’s been pretty beat up in his career. Definitely knows the game well and can conduct offense just as well as Brady and manning. Rogers and brees can’t take the punishment Ben can and be as clutch as he is
