Then he mentioned that he played it 2 weeks prior. He probably had to become familiar with the games during production and before interviews to say that he knows Sonic and make fans really take to him. I don't care if he's a fan or not. His voice is still an amazing fit, and I still really enjoyed the movie. Just my cynical outlook. :)

There's other interviews where he mentions having played the games when he was younger as far as I know.

James Sheils he dorsnt even acknowledge that people trashed it, he says they were excited and had more ideas, lol. For me it is a bit cringe, just call it what it was. Not his fault, just wush the studio would be more candid about things rather than rewite history.

Feel like it's an unwritten rule about saying your opinions on these types of topics. It's like speaking bad about a co-star, regardless if what he said is true about that actor, in the end, he is going to be known as the one that said it out loud.

@@ojon12389 Probably, its just, I dunno, why bother with damage control when the end result is so much better? Is it so bad to aknowledge how bad it was before it was fixed? I don't think digital sonic will be offended.

@@gmcubed It's the same reason why most people working on the film didn't speak up about the design before it was unveiled. There are obviously some higher-ups in Paramount that liked the design. Speaking publicly against the original design (even if it's obvious he didn't like it) can actually harm Ben's involvement in the sequel(s) or get him removed as a cast member all together. The original design was awful. Almost no one is disagreeing with that, including Ben, but it's not a good decision to speak out about it when you still have ties with the future of the franchise.

I dunno. for Sonic's characterization in the movie, Ben Schwartz brings a spark and really delivers to sell the character. but for Sonic's characterization in the games, Roger Craig Smith is able to deliver the Confidence Sonic is known for.

Roger is really great, even as Sonic. It's mostly the voice direction and the scripts, they suck ass.

My theory was Tails could be like a support character in the new movie because if he landed on Earth he might be looking for Sonic! Im not entirely sure how this fan theory started but i think it probably started on twitter. Anyways both of them totally embraced it, like ben tweeted happy fathers day to joe, and if you look it up on james corden they did a video together about the theory and i think he might address it in his reddit ama, both videos are on RU-vid. Honestly I can never understand why people are in love with Drummond. I feel like he makes Sonic sound dumb lol. Or like how he has not other personality but just “I’m cool yeah!”. I don’t like Roger anymore either. I think I only liked him in Colors. And that was it. Boom Sonic is the only one he fits IMO. But I feel like Ben is a perfect harmony between Jason and Ryan. With Ben, I feel like there’s more variety in the emotions that Sonic expresses. Sad, happy, comedic, fun, angry, upset, etc. And for the love of god, you can actually witness growth and character development within Sonic
