Not only does this use the nostalgia of the old characters for the benefit of the audience, they use it to properly mature and advance Tom Holland’s Spider-Man. The world’s longest origin story
You might not know this but Andrew Garfield on his series was extremely excited to play Spider-Man because he had read those comics and watched those cartoons all his life. He is incredibly humble and you can tell, especially in this new movie where he is acting along side Toby, whom he also watched in theaters. Props to him for that.
Yes! He was definitely the biggest Spider-Man fan out of the 3 actors before he played the role. He’s such a genuine kind of guy. I hope to see his character redeemed eventually. They’ve been hinting to another “Amazing Spider-Man” movie. I just hope there’s a different director
@@camraging641 Definitely not thousands, though. I also don't know why you say 60. That seems like a very specific number and I'm not sure there's anything to back that up.
I'd argue Doctor Octavious is technically not evil. I mean his arms killed all those people not himself. Plus I feel for Otto, he was trying to help humanity with cheaper energy, too bad it cost him his wife.
Yes but his character is supposed to be egotistical and immature. This was highlighted in Spider-Man 2 when he literally ignored important testing precautions. Yes you can be placed with horrible circumstances but it’s your character that ultimately can separate you from the darkness that seems to be consuming your life around you OR realizing all the good things you’ve experienced in life is what you carry with yourself to resemble your own light in the darkness around you. Making your own light brighter is what separates Peter from Dr. Otto. This is why Peter is one of the purest heroes, because he was able to help Dr. Otto realize that, since Peter’s own light is so bright.
You're missing the point of it and narrow it down too much. It's still Dr. Octavius, with or without the dysfunction of his neck-chip-thingy, so no, it's actually not correct to entirely assign the source of all evil to "his arms". They're "only" the enabler of evil - and like @Bro_soldier mentioned, it is HIM who created the arms, their chip and ultimately himself.
@@matthewheben6161 you’re so right! He had to have been smart enough to calculate all the possible outcomes of his experiment but he just focused on one! You can blame him still and he even went against traditional scientific procedures. I’d say he was an enemy to science as well.
Doctor Octavious was the good guy who was consumed by greed, his arms may of had a mind of their own but he has the power to control them, he was so obsessed by his own creation that it kills everything else he loves, and changes him, due to him not allowing the project to fail he short circuits the arms which makes him evil.
@@bro_soldier642 Yah! It's like...are his eyeballs moving? Does he has facial expression? Does he gesture? Is his mouth moving - in a way that produces sentences align with the narrative and actions of the tentacle arms?!
@@GodwynDi Bro. The responsibility line is the defining moment in the comic books where peter decides to become a hero, it is the entire essence of his heroism.
You know what else was pure gold about the movie? The Matt Murdock cameo, and the fact that they just officially established his canon in the MCU, pure gold.
Seeing matt Murdock was so freaking awesome. It felt a little cheap(maybe not the right word, conveniently forced?) Like it was just to bring his character in to the MCU, but it was still amazing seeing him in the film for sure
“Doctor strange is not the type of character to do something so reckless” Didn’t his entire character pretty much happen because he was driving 90mph on a mountain pass road while it was raining and he was on his phone?
Exactly. While he has certainly gotten a lot more wiser, he still has that arrogrant side to him, that "I can fix anything" side. Even in the comics he was like this.
I remember reading when Tom Holland was cast that he was considered the perfect combination of Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire. Remember them saying that Tobey was the best Peter parker, and that Andrew was the best spider-man. When they are all introduced in the movie Andrew is in his complete Spider-Man outfit, Tobey is not in the costume at all, and Tom sees them both wearing the costume on his lower half but not wearing the mask. I think that was all on purpose
i srsly can't see Tom as spiderman and peter parker, just another awkward teen, and incredibly annoying at that too, he belongs in sappy teen/disney love /musical drama movies.
@@drakke125Channel I kind felt the same about him at first, but he started to grow on me after end game, and I have to say no way home sealed the deal for me. Regardless he’s been the new face of Spider-Man for the time being wether we like it, or not lol.
When Garfield's Spider-Man had a chance to save MJ, this may be the very definition of catharsis. How many of us have made mistakes and wish we could go back in time and save ourselves from the very things that made us the people who we are today, a paradigm. In the fantasy world of film, we get the chance to vicariously live through our modern day mythic figures. I had a great experience watching this movie, total reco.
It was amazing, like a dream come true. I couldn't believe they actually got the other Spider-Men and let them play such a big role in the story. So many elements of the movie work so well.
The music dog. There’s this one song that they have different versions of during the sad parts of the movie you probably know what I’m talking about, so damn good. A tear was shed
I'd say the only reason Dr. Strange agreed to do the spell in the first place is because it was never supposed to go wrong. With that happening, it actually builds the story to not only this movie, but also the next Dr. Strange movie. He decides to explore the multiverse with Wanda. I think it was great.
Yeah, and two other points. This is the guy who operated on that dude with a bullet in his brain on the spot, and saved him, AND just recently was instrumental in defeating Thanos. So he's feeling pretty cocky. Second, the point at which he agrees to do this is when Peter says "This isn't about me", showing he doesn't care about himself, but others. That was the lesson Dr. Strange learned in his movie, and made it so that he wanted to help. P.S. Ben probably won't like Multiverse of Madness
The real truth is that someone in Wanda vision said that scarlet witch is stronger than sorcerer supreme so he took it personally and westviewed entire multiverse.
I think regardless of who anyone personally believes is "correct" regarding the villains, Peter Parker is the kind of person to value life no matter what, and his decision to do what he believes is right even at the cost of great loss and suffering simply because he believes it's the right thing to do is pure Spider-man for me
@@Peter-lr7by Yeah, albeit in a less ominous way than batman where he doesn't due it because he's aware hes just as insane as his enemies and fully believes he will become a ruthless killer if he crosses the line. Spiderman has killed a lot more than batman has, yet retains his sanity. For spiderman its much more a principal of goodness compared to batman which is more of a mix of goodness and fear. Fitting considering spiderman is the much more cheery character.
Yep Ben was pretty wrong about some of his Cristian because he's thinking to realistic and not releasing that Spiderman thinks more heroic then realistic. Helps that he exist within comics and not real life lol.
@@JalinTelevision That's a good observation but also precisely the point! The question is not that Spider-man as a character does not kill under any circumstances, he has; the thing is that based on what he has gone through he learns to value it. The brilliance in that scene is that the previous "Spider-men" have gone down that path and know it doesn't bring closure or anything positive really. It goes to show that making those moral choices is truly hard, holding yourself up to those ideals realistically is almost impossible especially dealing with personal issues, and Peter is but a kid. But having someone who has dealt with the same stop him from committing a mistake out of grief in my opinion was truly a great moment, and cemented why he must respect and honor what May stood for.
I was gonna be mad that you said it’s 2nd best movie next to Spiderverse… but I couldn’t deny how unique that movie was and how it was it’s own thing while making references to the classics.
This movie was a piece of amazing art. Loved to see Andrew Garfield getting his proper resolution with the character. 1) No Way Home 2) Amazing Spider-Man 2 3) Spider-Man
There was no creativity made by the producers it was a lazy attempt to pull on peoples heart strings and bring back the nostalgia but if you analyse the film and remove the old characters your left with a boring film but thanks for giving your mindless sheep review showing exactly the producers east attempt to pull the wool over your eyes lol
Ben Shapiro reviewing movies is something I didn't know existed but I absolutely love. It's absolutely amazing and he makes a lot of great points about the film, really enjoyed this.
Doctor Strange's "motivation" is helping Peter using a spell he thinks is relatively harmless (he shrugs it off mentioning a party that Wong forgot). He doesn't willingly open the multiverse allowing for the second half of the movie. He specifically is working to undo that spell.
Yea I thought the same. It didn’t appear like he believed it was all that dangerous. On top of that whenever he saw that Peter wanted to do it for others it called him back to that moment with the sorcerer supreme where she told him essentially the same thing (that it’s about the ones around you). I just think they could’ve done a better job at making this apparent because his motivation/attitude wasn’t completely clear and is easily ridden off as a less serious Dr. Strange
true opening the door was an accident after a straightforward spell got overly complicated and unstable, though he was unusually keen to jump to brainwashing the planet, and then very annoyed that peter was willing to brainwash everyone before lodging an appeal with the university, even though that was only half the problem as his exposure was ruining their lives in general and that just a few seconds ago he was doing it without asking peter any real questions or considering ANY other options before attempting to do so!
I guess it's all a bit of a play on the concept of "Be careful of what you wish for" which essentially means that you should bring a lawyer before you make your wish. Though the important part was that Strange wasn't doing the spell for Peter, he was doing it because Peter saw how other people's lives were being ruined and destroyed. Though unfortunately for him his selfless wish started becoming a selfish one that would result in him losing everything.
@@divinecomedian2 well no he was essentially casting an exemption into the spell each time peter added someone else he wanted to keep there memory, it was actually done well visually as one ring of light surrounded them for each addition, so he started with one ring but by the end was balencing several and it got out of hand, kind of like hading more balls to a juggler, yeah he can keep a few more in the air but you cant keep handing him more and more
Exactly how I felt about the movie. Only thing I wish they'd done differently was figure out a way to bring back vulture to make it a true sinister six movie. I'm not sure how that would have worked though.
@@ohmcharan Yeah but they only brought him to the MCU to leave behind a little bit of the symbiote for Peter to maybe find in the future. Only part of the movie I was on the fence about. Maybe Venom will be back with Spider-Man for a later film. Other than that, what an amazing movie! Can't wait to see it again!
I’m still a little confused on the wish. Peter wishes everyone forgot he was Spider-Man, but that results in everyone forgetting who Peter Parker is. Also, did the wish also destroy all video and written evidence of Peter?
Peter had to make a new wish as his previous one for everyone forgetting he was Spider-Man could no longer apply to help close off the rifts in the multiverse and send everyone home, these rifts causes every single Spider-Man villain in the multiverse who knows Spider-Man’s true identity to make their way to OUR Peter’s universe. Mind you, the multiverse rifts started to tear open because of Green Goblin detonating his pumpkin bombs in the magic cube earlier, which resulted in releasing the already unstable contained spell. So, in order to prevent these villains from from coming in, Peter had Strange enact a new spell that would make everyone in HIS universe to forget who Peter is, safely sending everyone back to their designated universe, and most importantly prevent the multiverse villains from coming through. As for the video and written evidence of Peter, I’m sure the wish erased all of that too. Hope this cleared things up :).
Yeah. The beginning and the ending didn't make much sense. But the middle was great! Simple wish at the beginning could have been: Make everyone forget Mysterio's video message. The end. All problems solved.
@@PhilBagels to be honest that mysterio did not belong in the 2nd movie at all......nothing from these holland movies make sense to me. As a 'movie' they're interesting popcorn thrillers but as a spiderman fan, these were just gawd awful.
To be fair, Spider-Man has an ironclad code against killing people, no matter how evil they are. And many of his villains are victims of tragedy, or hubris, or the evil acts of others. John D. MacDonald's Travis McGee once said that empathy means seeing yourself in every corpse. I believe that is true about Peter Parker, than he sees himself in many villains: "There, but for the grace of God, go I" sort of thing. Trying to cure the afflicted (and let's face it, Osborn and Octavius were men suffering intensely) is exactly the kind of hero Spider-Man is. When Otto is cut off from the influence of the cybernetic arms, he is RELIEVED. When Osborn is cured, he reacts to what he has done with HORROR. Spider-Man won against them by HELPING them.
Same, also why was it necessary to gather all the villains in the same place when the caged spell could have worked instantly regardless of the location of each of them?
@@dang5874 instead of hunting them one by one, which would take more time and effort, it’s easier to get them to come to you. They wanted to cure the villains
See, I’m pretty sure Strange knew about the tva/timekeepers, etc. as he said, this shouldn’t have been possible. If Sylvie hadn’t released the multiverse, botching the spell wouldn’t have done what it did. He thought it was safe, even if it got messed up.
My Opinion: 1. Spider-Man: No Way Home (9.6) 2. Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse (9.2) 3. Spider-Man (8.7) 4. Spider-Man 2 (8.5) 5. Spider-Man: Far From Home (8.2) 6. The Amazing Spider-Man (8) 7. Spider-Man: Homecoming (7.8) 8. Spider-Man 3 (7.3) 9. The Amazing Spider-Man 2 (7)
The film was GREAT But, detail wise, I noticed something they didn’t clarify Like the villains came back right before the memory of death. Doesn’t that mean Green goblin and doc oc, who died knowing they were in the wrong, should be cooperative with Spider-man ? Also something I couldn’t stand with Tom Holland Spider-man is that in every movie the cause of trouble is because of miscommunication. Homecoming: Spidy reports the robberies but Happy disses it. FFH: Spidy is trying to explain he wants just enjoy he’s summer and yet saving his friends, which made Fury doubt him NWH: Doctor Strange blames Spidy for all that multiverse mess but actually, if Strange explained the details of the spell, it could have been avoided
I cannot overstate how happy I am to see Ben’s prediction in his trailer review get turned on it’s head. NWH was phenomenal, and I love that he sees it. Great review
My hope is that it turns out that the Dr. Strange we saw was not the “real” Dr. Strange and a variant from the multiverse and the genuine Dr. Strange is trapped somewhere.
Yeah, if Tom Holland and his friends are THAT GOOD AT SCIENCE it doesn't make that much sense that they would be so interested in MIT. Wouldn't they be more interested in Wakanda University or whatever it's presumably called? But my main issue with the movie was how the villains had no responsibility or accountability placed on them for their actions. The whole "criminals are just sick people who need help" thing is leftist and it was blatantly obvious to me.
I straight lost it when you called out the Alex Jones bit 😭😭😭 that was so obvious to me and honestly, I thought it was pretty funny. I like Alex but it was ingenious to show the “New Aged Spider-Man” with an Alex Jones tribute. Nailed it
They respected the OG Spider-Man by making him the fastest and strongest out of all 3. Peter 2 out-slinging Peter 3. Peter 1 caving in from Peter 2's strength with the Glider
New spider boy movies never took it " home" which is why in an act of desperation they brought other Spiderman's in to close this sad spider boy trilogy and validate it in a sad way....and people bought into it...no Ben.
Before its premiere, “Spider-Man no way home” had the most incomprehensible expectations I have ever witnessed: “How exciting! The third part of a saga whose two previous films were a fiasco will be released.” The movie is surprisingly gruesome; For this reason, I propose a practical rule to identify potentially despicable films: when the role of a character is ideologically changed or inverted, it is -generally- with the aim of hiding, dissimulating, misrepresenting, and/or covering up a radically worse change and, at the same time, relevant for some. Like when the illusionist's half-naked assistant understandably captures the attention of the unsuspecting and naive. For example, in said film, the role traditionally played by Uncle Ben was attributed to the famous Aunt May and, in this way, the public's attention was diverted, through irrelevant reasons, from the real change. This is the fast-paced, whirlwind subversion of the movie's moral: "with great power comes non-responsibility." The result of the death of spiderman's aunt was not a reason for him to reflect on his behavior or take responsibility for absolutely anything, but after her death, he becomes not a questionable hero, not a dirty hero, not an anti-hero, but in the most dangerous villain that Marvel Studios has ever created. Apparently the "moral" of the film is to empathize and include the murderers of the protagonist's aunt, because those would be powerful and, according to the blockbuster filmography, the only thing that matters is power and, consequently, one must ally with the powerful. Or, what is the same, human life is worthless and/or not extremely valuable. It should be noted that the subliminal and perverse message is found throughout the film; However, that is not the most unfortunate thing, because the worst thing is that there are people who are unaware that they idolize a villain with the appearance of a hero, perhaps even the scriptwriters themselves are unaware. Although I doubt it since the only Marvel studios movie where a true hero appears is Iron man (2008). Since when do superheroes help criminals? Already in "Spiderman far from home" the protagonist was an idiot with superpowers, but he was not yet evil, since at no time did he commit the undoubtedly immoral, terrorist, criminal, and irresponsible acts of the last installment. In order to clarify and demonstrate the malice of the main villain of the film and the public's unawareness about it, I will describe a hypothetical situation similar to the one presented by the directors: A hero is going to sign a film to a country where genocide is committed and, during the recording, he swears to thank in the final credits the institution that administers the concentration camps (and fulfills it in the future) he takes a selfie with the genocides and later he publishes it on his Instagram profile with the following message: "these are spider-man's favorite crimes against humanity". And a group was invented to argue in favor of the arachnid in the following way: spiderman was only trying to help, he is good. Those useful fools do not realize that whoever willingly supports, defends, and works with the villains is indeed one of them. Not to mention that at one point in the movie the spider forced many to act against their will.
They didn't just make Tobey and Andrew's appearances some tacky cameos. They actually made a relevant impact not only on Tom Holland's story but on their own. This movie was incredible.
I think they need to make an andrew garfield apiderman 3. Maybe he can seek out dr strange to turn back time since the time stone might still exist in his universe
@@notyournormalguy_45 why would you bring different actors for characters that andrew and tobey portrayed? It would be more disrespectful to do it that way than what they did in the movie
Seeing the 3 generations of Spider-Men on screen was pretty surreal. They absolutely nailed it! Who would have guessed that by treating iconic characters with respect would lead to massive success?
Lol good point. It's not necessarily bringing back old characters back that's bad, it's a matter of making sure they feel like themselves and giving them something of substance to do!
It helped that every actor reprising a villain or alternate Spiderman was able to portray their character consistently with how they were originally portrayed. There were no significant personality changes. I really enjoyed the cameo of Daredevil by the actor from the Netflix series. I always thought those characters should have made appearances in the MCU.
@@domphilbrick I never watched the Andrew Garfield movies. Do you think they changed his character for pot reasons or the writers may not have done their research?
What was most fun for me was seeing how visibly Maguire and Garfield were enjoying themselves. You can tell that both of them, especially Garfield, are genuinely happy about being back in the Spidey suit and it adds a lot to their performances
Fan service can normally take me out of the movie when they're not done properly, which happens often, but how they fit the fan service organically into the story was so satisfying to watch.
Honestly, my favorite part of the movie was when Osborne says “You know, I’m something of a scientist myself”. Followed closely by all the Andrew Garfield scenes.
Couldn’t get over Spider-Man releasing every villain on the public. All I could think after may died and he was crying on rooftop is… I wonder how many innocent people Goblin and Lizard are killing right nos
They build a complete weird ass story which makes no sense to justify the fan service. Dr strange doesn’t act anything like dr strange so they can push the stupid story forward. I still enjoyed the fanservice and the Movie in General but it was definitely not organic
I was surprised that I was the only person in the theater that laughed at the part where Norman Osbourne tells Tom Holland Spiderman, "I'm something of a scientist myself." 😳
Garfield really shined in this. LOVED his take here and how he was just so happy to meet the other two. Also really liked how Doc Ock became an ally in the final fight.
@@stutteringcris468 Andrew is the best actor easily out of the three why is everyone only appreciating Andrew now? I watched it in theaters and I completely FLIPPED OUT when Daredevil made the appearance as his lawyer. That was such a small detail that wouldn't have catered to everybody but Daredevil is one of my favorite shows so I was trying not to scream!
I'm amazed they pulled off such a huge spectacle. That film was so many moving pieces that weave together so perfectly. Almost like a beautiful spider web.

Honestly the movie wasn’t that good other then for all the OG characters showing up. I thought the overall plot was pretty lame. I liked the one before this with Mysterio better. But seeing wilem Defoe, Andrew Garfield and Toby maguire back, completely saves the stupid plot line
@@sdaftermath123 maaan I respect your take as all this is subjective anyway but we all know you’re in the great great minority (to say the least) for liking FFH over this one.
I don’t know if age plays into this, but I was 21 when Spider-Man came out in 02. It was so fresh and new at the time. The 2nd one was the best of those three imo. I was reluctant on Garfield taking over the reboot, but when I saw it I couldn’t believe I was thinking “wow, THAT was Spider-Man”. The 2nd Garfield one had issues sure, but it’s super over-criticized. And the Holland ones have always felt like he was never really the “lead”. No Way Home was absolutely the best of all of them. Yeah I know, it’s like saying Endgame was the best Marvel movie, but it’s still a tremendous wrap up. And if anyone didn’t get a little choked up when Garfield saves MJ….I don’t know what to tell you.
This felt like Tom Holland's Peter Parker true origin story movie especially with the ending. Peter ends up all alone, in an apartment, no one knows him anymore, he promised his friends he would make them remember him but Peter decided it was best to leave them alone. Besides the beggining of the film 9/10 movie

There was a very specific reason why MCU Spidey’s Character never had any personal tragedies up until this film, and that was because his story arc was going to be limited at best due to the contract. Spiderman was only given to the MCU for two stand alone films and three collaboration films, so his character was there to enhance the MCU story arc. Now that he is in the MCU for more films and the MCU arc has finished the Infiniti War saga, they can now focus on his character development more.
He wasn't curing schizophrenia, he was curing the chemical substance in Norman Osborne's blood that caused him to have psychotic breaks with reality. Doc Ock and Electro were both mechanical problems that needed to be solved.
I'm not sure believe Electro's was a mental problem, he was pretty much the same character after being cured, he just kinda knew there was nothing that could be done. I mean I guess it could be argued that he was corrupted by the capability of his powers, but from the small bit after being cured, he doesn't respond in a way that suggest he was criminally insane.
Norman can't be saved anymore because he now needs the serum more than ever because he's gonna be jailed when people find him. Plus now he has no more powers.
This movie was great! No wokeness! They treated the characters with respect. And guess what? It made a ton of money because it wasn’t pushing a stupid sjw message. No identity politics. A good story and good characters.
They kind of tried to shoehorn in an immigration theme with Aunt May with the whole “We need to help these people, they’re sick and they need a home”. But then she promptly gets killed by one of them so I guess that message kinda goes down the drain.
I think my favorite part is how Andrew Garfield's Peter Parker is allowed to shine. His interactions with Ned and MJ reminded me of actual interactions I saw between high schoolers and university students when I was that age.
Agreed. *spoilers below* When he caught MJ and got "redemption" for not catching Gwen, I legitimately teared up a bit. SO cool that they gave him that moment.
Willem Dafoe is one of the most interesting actors out today. He’s doing some really cool movies and has been for a long time, but definitely look into his movies if you aren’t familiar with him, he’s really good.
I liked this movie alot, and my wife caught me teary eyed a couple times. And I like that they kept the other Spiderman characters legit by having them be from the other universes.
Holland punching Defoe during their first fight, and Defoe not feeling any of it, but starts laughing was just the most beautiful moment for me! That fight was the best part, in my opinion.
@@Senth99 Dafoe after all these years hasn't lost even an ounce of his Green Goblin character! It truly was an exciting moment. Seeing the other villains looking like "What the fuck?" was very satisfying!
Andrew Garfield was the star of the movie for me, fantastic performance, was a pity they gave him such horrible stories for his movies. Would love to see a third one with him of his descent into "not pulling his punches" although Im not sure how you would end that kinda movie
Really hoping the rumors are true that Morbius and Venom from Sony are going to be in the Andrew Garfield universe. Andrew Garfield taking a much darker approach to Spiderman with those 2 villains would be great to see.
I cried watching this movie so much! I loved every moment of it! 😭😭😭 tobey maguire was my childhood crush and seeing all of the Spidermen together just MY HEART
Honestly this movie has the most depressing ending in all of the mcu. They have Tom living the plot of its a wonderful life. Just a heart wrenching ending.
I think we're just going to have to trust that it won't be the end. They've all signed on for at least 2 more movies so I think that's a pretty good indicator that somehow they remember/know Peter again. But yes it was very very heartbreaking 💔
I never expected the film to be this good. The old characters got the respect they deserved and having all three Spider Men was awesome. Willem DaFoe also stole the show and was much creepier in this film than I remember him being. Maybe it’s the fact that he doesn’t wear the goblin mask. DaFoe really nailed it. All of the actors did.
I loved how they changed Green Goblin and Electro’s appearances to more resemble their comic book counterparts. That was a small complaint about Spider-Man (2002) and one of many problems with The Amazing Spider-Man (2014)
It was the combination of Tom holland’s own genius and Tony Stark’s machine that he was able to cure the villains. So to be fair it was stark who also helped in a sense. Also I believe Toby’s Spider-Man was the one that cured goblin as he stated he was thinking of a cure for him for a while and that he’d work on it.
this 'genius' from tom holland's peter parker was never once established. We're expected to 'believe' it simply because he's able to use Tony's tech from the 2nd movie. Tobey graduated with good grades from college, Garfield was a freaking inventor. Tom Holland had tech/suits/satellites/weapons of mass destruction served to him on a platter When are people gonna wake the shock up.
@@drakke125Channel I mean Tom did make his own web fluid from scratch while Garfield simply got his from Oscorp. So it’s not like they didn’t hint at it.
The healing part of the movie can make sense as technology in the Tom Holland's universe seems much more advanced ( possibly due to Stark's influence and contact with aliens outside the planet ), so their medicine is also more advanced.
What Dr. Strange does actually is in character. He really is quite reckless. After all, the reason he became a sorcerer in the first place is because he was texting while driving 100 mph in the rain on a curvy cliff side road.
Dr. Strange is reckless because he is arrogant. He loses a lot of arrogance in the process of becoming Sorcerer Supreme. Mastering the Mystic Arts has probably allowed a slight return to that "I've got this under control" aspect that causes him to make decisions that ultimately prove dangerously short-sighted.
Nahh, Strange was just unaware of the split of the timeline. He had used that spell before and nothing ever happened because as we saw in Loki the TVA kept preserving only 1 timeline, hence why Wong mentions they know very little about the multiverse because it hasn't existed until now. At the end of Loki the timeline splits and Strange is not aware of it as he was probably still in dust and never noticed it when he returned (Time passes different inside the TVA). This time when he cast the spell and says "everyone" all timelines get affected and that caught him by surprise.
I wouldn't consider myself a fan of everything you do, only some things. But this review is surprisingly accurate and captures my feelings towards the film, good job Ben 👏

I actually don't get why people are going Gaga over this movie in the way they do, but the scene with Aunt May dying and the great treatment of Garfield and Maguire's spideys, the evolution and aging of Holland's Peter Parker, and the chemistry between Pete and MJ and the whole real kid college issue was enough to make me genuinely enjoy the movie well beyond a 6/10. But the amount of nostalgia bait, meta jokes, and forced Disney humor at a couple points made it so it doesn't come close to Spiderman 2 for me, but I'd like to hear your problems with it because it seems like you hated a lot more than just that
@@carnationlul For starters, acting like "I heard it first," is real cute. Never stated that their were any "inconsistencies", I literally said the plot was shit. You're trying to say i'm saying the movie doesn't make sense when it does and i'm just saying it's horrible. I want you to promise me you'll actually read a comment before responding to one you made up in your silly head, ok? Great. And another piece of advice, don't ever mention critique reviews in your life if you have no idea what you're talking about. At that rate, go watch Cuties since it's apparently an 88% on Rotten Tomatoes you absolute TOOL xd
Same! Easily the best live action spider man film since Spider Man 2. I thought it was a brilliant choice the way it ended, but it was also a great start of a new trilogy
@@YiminyCricket I absolutely agree with you lol. I usually just watch films on my computer 😅. But a movie event like Star Wars The Force Awakens, Avengers Endgame, and Spider Man No Way Home MUST be experienced in theaters
The only thing I disagree with is Ben’s criticism of the characterization of Doctor Strange. His willingness to perform the spell wasn’t a show of recklessness but instead a show of arrogance, which is entirely in keeping with his character.
This what I’ve been seeing. Rewatching Doctor Strange this was totally in character. He’s very arrogant and constantly trying things he “shouldn’t” be cause he’s so full of himself
