I think so far it is the best single handed backhand in my opinion. RF backhand is beautiful but Stan backhand is more lethal. He can manage to overcome Rafa topspin while mostly RF struggle to handle. Shapovalov seems to inherit the same technique but Stan BH is simply the best
In match like this I wish we could have 2 winners. Breathtaking tennis, zero malice, gamesmanship or rage fits. 39 yrs old Stan the Man played stunning tennis against young star Ben. This is what tennis is all about. Bravo guys👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
If Stan is going down, he's going down swinging. That's great to see because it's a vast improvement from giving up when the chips are down. Might as well go your hardest, win or lose, because we don't know how much longer he has to go before he's the next to leave the game 😢
Absolutely incredible to watch Stan play like this! His precision, the brilliance of his game is still shining. His genius remains intact. At 39, he doesn’t have the same physical edge as the younger guys in their twenties, and that does work against him. But once again, he’s proving why he was one of the greatest players of our time.
Stan is still battling well, but Ben is improving his court coverage and movent to go with his varied game. The young guy really plays a different game from most others.
That's great tennis from both of these guys. Wow. STANding strong and the up-and-coming. I honestly thing Ben is going to be the leading spoiler between the Big 2. But you have Draper too...
I stand on the tennis of the last generation being more solid than the new style. The precision is better, the intention is better, the footwork is better and even the ability to finish points at will is more pronounced. The only thing you can’t teach is youth 🤷🏾 Great Game by both, but Stan’s my man!
As a Swiss, I am particularly proud of him, and of Stricker too. Wawrinka is showing us some of what he used to be able to do and I have the feeling he's on the up & wants to come back again! Let's go! A lot has happened in the last few months! And logically, in the days when Stan the Man was number 3 in the world, Ben (who I don't like anyway, typical American - a country where any fool can buy a gun) wouldn't have stood a chance. And Stricker also did well against Rune! He's also on an upward trend - but unfortunately didn't follow up the hard shots as well as Alcaraz and Sinner, for example. Lets go!
Not a Shelton fan, but what is this unsportsmanlike behaviour from Wawrinka at 0:18? The first hit on the ground is for balance but the others are not.
I always enjoyed watching FEDERER, GASKET, WAWRINKA, DIMITROV, TSITSIPAS and other rare single backhand players. Both players performed excellent. WAWRINKA is in great form, but in my view he shouldn't embark in an intense match against younger players because at the end he gets tired. He should avoid fighting for some points when he is not in danger to get broken.
@@ricklee5845 It’s an old story, last year I think. Wawrinka lost after having match points and decided to say to Rune he would do better if he wasn’t such a baby on court. It was funny but totally unprovoked in that match. He was probably referring to some old matches of Rune from his early days on tour. I thought it was unnecessary and a bit salty. Since Shelton is also very theatrical and vocal on court, I thought Stan could have some advice for him as well :) But probably nothing happened, they just cut the handshake, because they don’t care.
One handed Backhand should be required for all tennis players . If you can’t do it , too bad. If you need two hands to hit , then that will be half point. No getting points by serving hard. Serving overhand should be restricted for 2 serves in each set .
Prime Shelton barely beat an 'old man in tennis,' Wawrinka's style is glorious, like Federer, he could play until he's 60, it's not always about slams, it's about style and elegance, that's why Federer even with 20 slams, is GOAT for me, over Nadal and Novak.
