Shaq rarely acknowledges a lot of things that have happened to him on the basketball court. After the game he called this block a foul. "That was a foul young lady, you know that was a foul" he said.
Shaq always hated on and showed no respect to those Pistons squads or Ben Wallace even though the Pistons beat him in 04/05 went 2-1 overall and Ben Wallace beat him 3-1 in 04/05/07
@@Loganbubbecause anyone who thinks ben wallace could contain Shaq is smoking rocks..funny how you don't see any highlights of ben on Shaq when shaq wasn't a tub of lard on the court
Exactly lol. Pistons fans think pistons better team but they wouldn't have won if Shaq and Kobe initially feuding and Malone and Payton not wanting it. If Shaq and Kobe didn't feud and Payton and Malone played like when they where in finals when played the bulls then pistons would have gotten swept. But coulda woulda shoulda that was the Lakers fault and not pistons fault and they took advantage and pistons came to win
@@reredrumuoy Rasheed was definitely a hot head, but to be fair even if this was Ben’s first time losing his cool which it wasn’t, this still trumps every single time Rasheed has ever lost his cool on the court. This entire catastrophe could’ve been avoided if Ben Wallace would’ve been more like Shaq in this moment. Idk how old you are but if you were born in the mid 80’s or early 90’s then you remember hack-a-shaq. Shaq could be a hot head at times too, but I’ve seen him get fouled wayyyy harder than this by Rodman and he just brushed it off and got him back by making him apart of a highlight reel.
I remembered that in his Pistons days in the postseason, Ben would wear the fro-style on home games, and the braids on road games. So this was different seeing him with braids on a home game.
Big Ben were one helluva strong, big guy! He could guard bigger people than himself! He were only 6’9 or 6’10 with amazing strength! Truly a game changer!
True👍. Ben was even better then Alonzo mourning defense wise and Ben was like a muscled version of Kevin Garnett who played defense the same in doing crazy hook shot rejections but couldn't make a career in the paint because skinny
@@joeschmoe5231 yessss. He will not. U know why? Coz he will have more then just effort. He will have defensive iq. He will have instincts. He will anticipate the pump fake. All this things i speak of is more then just an effort.
@@user-mj5vx8xj8t The Lakers were heavily favored against the Pistons stop with the excuses. Shaq's kryptonite was always smaller players that had a strong low base and were extremely durable. The Pistons and Spurs were the 2 best defensive teams in that era they were known for making him work hard for his points he usually wasn't scoring effortlessly against them. The fact is Ben was more athletic and clearly a better defensive player compared to Shaq.
@@ChrisM07FACTS .. I'm a die hard laker/Kobe fan & I 💯% agree .. Ben is in my top 10 all-time & he shut my lakers TF down. Just being honest.. shaq won't admit it but I will 😂😂😂
Ben’s strength was out of this world. Even being in the perfect position to block Shaq… 99% of the times Shaq would dunk right through that block. Crazy.
One of the dopest moments in that playoffs series. That was the third time he blocked Shaq. And Shaq ain't no easy block. That cat is freaking strong!! #goingtoworkcrew
🤔 I think a lot of people make the mistake in thinking that Shaq is stronger than Ben Wallace,. . He is not! Shaq is obviously bigger and that weight can be used to push others around with more force.. But I have no doubt in my mind if you took Shaq and Ben and put them in the gym and had them compete in a strength test I guarantee you Ben Wallace would domination Shaq in probably everything! 💪
I mean that possible Ben Wallace was insanely strong but Shaq had about 100 pounds on him probably and 4 inches at least height wise so even if Ben was stronger you get worn down by the extra weight and have to exert so much more energy.
Big Ben and Dennis Rodman are the any two players that could sometimes have some success against Shaq , but they caught hell doing it !!!!! Props to ben !!!!!
Players that had a strong low base and were extremely durable usually did the best job at neutralizing him. That along with teams that used the pick and roll often.
Patrick Ewing Dikembe Mutombo Hakeem Olajuwon David Robinson Dennis Rodman Shaquille O'Neal Tim Duncan Yao Ming Big Ben Wallace Shows how centers should be centers. Defense goes to perfect offense and Shaquille O'Neal is a prime example
Don't forget Sabonis. Even though by the time he got to the league he was declared eligible for a handicapped parking spot by his doctors just from the X-rays. Still he was big enough and insanely high IQ. Caused a lotta trouble for Shaq in those matchups.
I miss players like Ben Wallace, Charles Oakley, Hakeem Olajuwon , Moses Malone , Karl Malone , Havlicek , Jerry West etc etc and defensive players like that . That’s when they played Real basketball. Today’s happy go lucky chumps like Ja Marant etc etc would get broken in half going in the paint with that BS . Oh, I forgot about Bill Laimbeer , Spreewell .
Man. Ben was that man. That deeeetroit basketball was so fun to watch. Living here in socal as a Lakers fan. Was so refreshing to watch one of the best defensive teams in the history of basketball '04 pistons held down great offenses to under 90 pts. They were on a stretch that season where they kept opponents under 70 pts. Plus my all-time favorite power forward was on Detroit Pistons, Sheeeeeed. So I was always keep an eye on Detroit Pistons low key fan. My favorite part about the beautiful game of basketball is defense. Offense gets the highlights and the spotlight. But everything happens on defense. Pro basketball I mean you can't hide nothing, everybody is going to know what offense you're going to run. Everybody know what defensive sets you're going to be in. Just got to come down to the little things that wins basketball games. All the defensive end. Team communication and the never back down willpower to defend your matchup 1on1. Scoring a basketball feels good but there's nothing like the feeling of grabbing a Defensive rebound or blocking a shot. And saying not all my watch. Damn miss playing ball. Ballislife
I think that basketball fans in general are not aware of how incredibly strong Ben Wallace was. The Pistons have had some of the greatest defensive players of all time - clearly the two standouts are Wallace and Dennis Rodman.
Most unerrated player in the history of the NBA. Absolutely the most underrated center. This guy shut down PRIME SHAQ in the 03 fnals. Rip & Prince held down Kobe too. We raised that trophy in 5 games. They were lucky to win game two. Best defensive championship team in history, and im very proud to have been there for game 5. That was a celebration I'll never ever forget, lol i was 24 yrs young, at the Palace, watching history. Once we signed Sheed , i felt it,, this shits a wrap. We beat the best, embarrassed the best team in the league. Us Detroiters will never forget that. Thank you Big Ben, Chauncy, Rip,Prince,Sheed, Larry Brown and co.. thank you for bringing the championship home to the D. 🙏 👍 👍 👍 👍 👍 🎉🎉🎉🎉
I respect BEN BIG BEN WALLACE... Even I greatest block ever in NBA history vs MOST POWERFULL MEN EVER IN NBA WITHOUT GYM he was humble and say good about Shaq. I'am Pistons fun bec of him... To this day for my BEN is the most famus and greatest Pistons ever bec he play hard, defense and was a team player. I love u BEN. How u play basketball, play DDD like nr 3... U made this D fun to watch. Nobody even come close to u... U score 6 points(3 dunks), great screans but in D u can put 20 reb, 5 stl and 5 blk... Nobody can do what u doo... Every night. Stats never ever see ur GREATNEST MRS. WALLACE. U AMAZING.❤🎉😂😢😮😅 I miss u Edit I forget to say... U never was about stats... U play, hard and try to help the team to win... Show me a C 250 lbs who stole ball and get charge vs PRIME IVERSON in 76ers side of court... Nobody... Only BEN.🎉
We beat y’all but good god it was a dog fight. I don’t think Wade is as great as he is if he doesn’t play the Pistons in B2B ECF. The hardened him him and made him grow up quick. If they didn’t beat the hall out of Wade in 05, the Heat would’ve gone vB2B and Wade would’ve been damn near eye to eye with Kobe and the Spurs dynasty would’ve taken a big hit. Man those Pistons teams were TOUGH and unselfish. Imagine if they had a Young Sheed😳😳. Would’ve probably averaged 22 and 10. The pistons and the 01-04 Kings were the most underrated teams of the 2000’s and both teams are probably top 5-7 most underrated EVER. IDC what anyone says, I loved this era of NBA because of the physicality, defense, size, POST OFFENSE, and diverse shot selection. 🫡 to the last era of actual men playing, 2000-2010.
They called it the no fly zone, Sheed and Wallace were the greatest defensive front court in NBA history, it was special!! The year the NBA cracked down on steroids Ben's ability to jump seemed to go way down, alway wondered about that?
I miss this pistons team so much. You can even make a case that the 05-06 teams with mcdyess were better than 04 talent wise. God this was my childhood 🥲
Loved Ben and that Detroit teams. Also this is a true testament to how great shaq was that we have to heard a retailing of a moment he was once blocked.
It’s funny how Shaq pretends like Ben didn’t embarrass him in 2 different playoff series. If it were not for the refs in 2006, Ben would be 2-0 against him in the playoffs.
My first job at 15 was a bagger at a kroger in Rochester, Michigan. Ben and Sheed would come in and grocery shop somewhat regularly. I remember Ben coming in after he was traded, probably just before he moved away and sending western union to whoever it was. They were always quiet but nice guys. I don't watch the NBA anymore, but those two will forever be my favorite players.
I lost all respect for Wallace when he started the Malice in the Palace. He acted like a washer woman when Artest fouled. He's lucky Artest just walked away. I think he would have used Wallace as a floor mop
Maybe he doesn’t talk about it because he dropped 28 on Ben to close out game 6 of the ECF & went on to win the Championship that year. If you ask him about it then he might share his thoughts 🤷🏿♂️🤷🏿♂️🤷🏿♂️
This dude has The Greatest Genetics in Basketball. He did age 1 bit. Insane Vertical. Insane Strength and Size, Oddly Fast for his Size. Ben couldve played Any sport and been a Powerhouse.
Just because 1 or 2 block, it doesn't mean you success😂. You need to see the whole match from Q1-Q3, Oneal dominate Ben in Power and speed. Ben like children against Adult😂.
I forgot the battles Ben and Shaq had during those Detroit vs Miami series! First thing that pops up in my mind is the 2004 Finals! I gotta go back and watch those Detroit vs Miami games again
Look and see how many players are in the hall of fame that didn't get picked in the NBA draft...I can say BIG Ben is 1 of them, and he went in as a DETROIT PISTON
This Pistons team was phenomenal. No superstars per se, but the best teamwork I’ve ever seen. Watching Big Ben swat a shot into the 10th row was as exciting as watching Vince Carter in the 2000 dunk contest. I don’t think there will ever be another team like this one. Not in this era of the NBA, anyway.
Ben was a great defender but it's no way Shaq should have allowed him to guard him one on one. Buy them doing that they we're able to double and triple team Kobe and that's why we lost to the Pistons in the finals. And Shaq played versus a lot of mediocre centers during his time. Outside of David Robinson and Patrick Ewing he really didn't face another dominant big man. We all saw what Hakeem did to him in the finals
04' Pistons! 4 of them were All-Stars but all 5 starters was'nt trying to be a superstar or sum sht..they just played their roles.. bad ass bench players as well..
The fact that this guy was 6’9 and was literally able to bang with Shaq and limit him on offense and defense shows you how much of an underrated player he is, even Shaq himself said that the only dude he was scared of was Ben.
