BENAVENTE, Santarém 

Benavente é uma vila e sede de um município no distrito de Santarém.Benavente tem foral antigo, dado em 1200 pelo mestre da Ordem Militar de Évora e confirmada pelos reis de Portugal em 1218 por D. Sancho I e por D. Manuel em 16 de Janeiro de 1516.
Benavente, foi destruída pelo sismo de 1909, que matou mais de 60 pessoas e destruiu praticamente todas as casas da povoação. Benavente é atravessada pelo rio Sorraia.

Benavente is a village and seat of the municipality in the district of Santarém. Benavente has an old charter, given in 1200 by the master of the Military Order of Évora, and confirmed by the kings of Portugal in 1218 by,D. Sancho I and D. Manuel on January 16, 1516.
Benavente, was destroyed by the earthquake of 1909, which killed more than 60 people and destroyed almost all houses in the village. Benavente is crossed by the river Sorraia.
