First, Bench is a Pinoy brand that sells various types of clothing and scents. Second, "amoy" means smell or odor, so "Amoy kita" means "I can smell you." It's a play on words here. Scent-related words are used because it's for a cologne (I am guessing for girls because of the gay-theme and, well, the pink color give-away). But in this commercial, the translation is "I know your secret" because non-Filipinos would not easily understand the context if the translation was "I can smell you." To explain, that's usually said to someone to mean/warn that you can already sense s/he's gay.
The dad's note was transcribed incorrectly. It's actually "son, I smell you.." consistent with this being a cologne ad. The "I know your secret" rubbed off the pun to or the parallelism with the product being advertised. 🙂
hannah mae sytangco the translation is correct. The translator translate it in the meaning not the word. Yes you were right that the word amoy kita means I smeel you but if you will read the whole sentece or the whole story it will came out that the meaning is I know your secret.
Mr. Ansatsu you're right. I'm talking about it being "parallel" with what the ad is. It does make more sense if they keep the "I smell you" being this a perfume/cologne ad. It somehow rubbed off that intention.
i remember my mom when i started smoking cigarettes (just when i'm stressed) i'm keeping it as a secret .. and when we were at a store she's be like "what was your cigarette again?" i just answered her "marlboro" like a pro.
There’s pun intended to what Dad wrote. Amoy means to smell. I smell you could mean I smell you literally or I can sense that you are gay. Of course it was ended because it’s a commercial about a cologne.
We have expression too that if they that they’re gay they just going to say “hmm he smells like” and that’s the reason why bench really good to emphasize the meaning out from expressions

chiaki nanami if you have a pea size brain, don't comment to an intellectual comment. let me explain to you, 3 people can keep a secret and will mot be told if you kill the other two. thats what it means. its like saying if I tell you my secret then Ihave to kill you so that you can't tell anybody else.

Regarding the part about "3 can keep a secret" already defies or contradicts the next phrase you just inputted, " If 2 are dead". meaning to say It can't be done if their is no other 2, meaning to say again only 1 gets to keep the secret. If you separate 1 - from the other 2, It cannot be "3 can keep a secret" anymore. It just logic, pure logic. And don't say Pea Brain if it's not proven. Don't be a such a know it all.
he's either bi/gay/straight- we don't exactly know from the ad's story. but even if he is straight, it's still possible that he was "flirting" on purpose because he noticed that the gay main character was so into him... some people do that too...like "tease" you knowing you can't "have them" and enjoy watching you go crazy over them.. *sigh*
