This video covers a trek with my travel partner, Hema Hazarika, to Bendao Baiglai Falls, Samparidisa village near Haflong, Dima Hasao district, Assam (India) during December, 2018. It is called "Bendao Baiglai" which keeps alive the mystery of a Dimasa story of the suicide of the two sisters (bendao means 'sisters' and baiglai means 'jump'). There are two parts of the falls. Unfortunately, we couldn't make it to the larger waterfall as we spent half day for trekking and sight seeing. Perhaps, it's a rare trek in this unexplored place for many other adventurers (we both took a female guide).
Best way to reach this destination is to reach Haflong by bus or train from Guwahati (and Silchar). Then, hire an auto for "to and fro" (auto rickshaws are the only lifeline in Dima Hasao district inspite of hilly terrains and rough roads) to Samparidisa village (one of the cleanest villages of the district), get an entry ticket (it was 30/- INR when we went there) and a guide (300/- approx).
Note: Please start your trek early in the morning so that you can reach both the waterfalls. Water level is high in rainy reason and wear proper clothing and shoes to get rid of slippery pathways and leeches . In winter (our time of visit), water is less and there is no leeches. :)
