Aleks Ulmer the only thing I haven't heard talent wise is his own music. There is a difference between being proficient and manifesting new sounds. Still dope ass dude, no doubt.

I see what you're saying. But don't forget his contributions to Aegaeon! Although I'm not sure how much he was a part of the musical process itself (Jerry Grannan did most of the compositions), all the drum parts were written by Anthony. The drum part he wrote and performed for Neural Union, for instance, is mind blowing... complexity like I haven't heard in metal for years, and originality at its finest.

Okay yeah but to me it just sounds like it's not really too much of a song if you have you know only 2 drum beats for the whole song and only 2 different riffs really, with the 2:47 breakdown thrown in. It just doesn't really say much if you compared it to any Motionless in white - lamb of god- testament - trivium - necrophagist song. I'm just saying it's amateur and it's an attempt to show off the nice techniques but it doesn't accomplish anything musically. Idrc though.....

+Connor Rilling Bands change styles over time. Listen to any track off of their 2nd album, Mechanics of Dysfunction. Then their 3rd album, Dystopia, is 2nd best. And their debut EP, Evidence of Inequity, comes in a very close 3rd (just because that was an older style, and the production adds age to it as well.) THAT'S MY OPINION, in those album's rankings between balancing fun, technicality, melodics, and progression. Their newer albums, I admit, didn't hit the g spot like their older albums. To me nothing will beat Mechanics of Dysfunction. But that isn't to say every album hasn't had its more laid back song(s) in terms of musicality. To be honest I haven't listened to Maree Noire or Incongruous all the way through, because my initial impressions weren't as striking as with the older albums. But go watch their official cover video for their song, Symptoms. The recording sucks unfortunately, but just watch what he plays. It's not bad. I think I can dig it. I think I'll give them another try. Still though.....Mechanics of Dysfunction. Don't miss out on that. Give it a fair listen.

Your just negative dude. To be able to play drums AND guitar like he does is out of the ordinary !!! On top of that, its all HIS writing. Its not about the speed, its about how its all fits together perfectly. He can pretty much play anything. Give the kid credit dude. Gosh!!! Loose your negativity.

Oh, I can't..and would never claim to be able to. Doesn't make a difference, though. All it is is widdly widdly wee. No real melody, no nothing...a bunch of notes is just a bunch of notes. I suggest you look into the opinions of real guitarists (and composers and conductors). like Frank Zappa and Brian May....better than me, you, and the widdly wee guy in the video...and see what they think about this kind of shit. The best guitarists in the world have no respect for this crap because that's all it is. Speed does not mean anything other than speed.

It's all a preference there is no best genre genius. Metal does take years to develop the strength to hit hard, fast and for extended periods of time. Same with every genre so shut up quit trying to convince us metal heads to like other stuff if u hate it why r u even commenting NOONE GOVES A FUCK

To say speed is just speed is absurd. The way you put it makes me think you dont believe that speed is skill. Well i hate to tell you, but speed does imply SKILL! Hell that's what this genre (Technical Death Metal) is all about! It is simply an opinion of yours that you think this is "shit" which i disagree but hell you can have that opinion, its YOUR opinion. But when you act as if this guy and this band dont have skill it makes you look like a fucking idiot LOL and someone who themselves has probably never even tried to play this type of music. And yes i do believe other musicians are talented in other genres of music. So dont think im one of those "metal or nothing" guys. Metal isnt the only genre i listen too.
