Amber Pacholok I’m a 420 with a yellow undertone and I actually use Coco naughty. When using the right brush you can build it up and it looks beautiful. I do think that an in between shade would be perfect for us but Coco naughty most definitely works. I’ve got BH toasted too and find it can pull a bit to dark and cool with a heavy hand so I need to be very careful with my application and again use a contour brush instead of a fluffy blush brush like you did. But like you said bronzer all comes down to preference in the end so people will like different things but give Coco Naughty a thought.
Amber Pacholok btw I’m used to having to buildup my bronzers since before I got these two new once I was using NARS, Bobbi Brown and Mac and They needed to be build up each time I applied them so I guess that’s why I have the patience to build up Coco Naughty instead of expecting and instead colour pay off lol x
The benefit looks like a purple bruise and the fenty looks like a super red blush at $30+ for both its a no for me. Fenty needs another shade for the latter 400s
Benefit didn't look good at all. Looked bruised/dirty. I usually don't like things that pull red but I liked it better than Benefit on her. But there are better options out there. I'm Fenrty 430 if that matters. My friend is 450 and Mocha Mami looks so good on her. Like it was custom blended lol.
It took them 20 years I think to create toasted. My opinion is that they finally saw the economic benefit in manufacturing a bronzer for us because of Fenty.
"They got it right." Yup, got my Hoola Toasted a few weeks back and have been going in on it! I absolutely understand people's resentment that it took Benefit so long to extend their shade range for deeper complexions, but they hit it out of the park. I chose not to boycott but rather to buy so that not only do I get an amazing bronzer but I also let them know that WOC (surprise, surprise) have money to spend too!
I'm not into the red undertone of Mocha Mami either. People will scream at you about bronzers being about bringing warmth but that doesn't mean it has to be so red to bring warmth lol. I have golden/olive undertones and I do not like how anything with a red undertone looks on me. I'm a 445 in the fenty foundation so I'm not 100% sure the hoola bronzer will work on me and I don't care for the packaging either but I'm curious to swatch it the next time I'm at a Sephora
Oh yesssss if you have olive undertone you can forget about the red bronzers. It’s going to counter act on your skin and may look muddy. Green is opposite of red on the color wheel so they will neutralize each other. Swatch the hoola for sure.
@@amberpacholok Both are too dark for you. On Fenty's RU-vid channel they did a demo on someone with 490 and used mocha mami and it works to warm her skin. Contour should be used After Bronzer not in place of it.
Thanks Amber for your honesty. But I think the hoola bronzer looked like a bruise on the side of your face. The fenty one definitely looked like a blush. So they are both no's for me.
Eight shades out of the gate is awesome compared to what POC don't get from most other brands. Yes, there need to be deeper tones - I'm sure she'll add more. Makeup is subjective. At the end of the day it's just makeup; as long as a brand is genuinely inclusive that's what matters to me.
Oddly enough I love the Fenty Bronzer on you, it looks so pretty like a flush of warmth. Looked like you have been on vacation. It didn’t contour you nose. The hula did better on your nose but I thought it looked harsh and pulled muddy on your cheek. I’m 420 in Fenty. My undertones are olive. Will not be purchasing the Fenty bronzer right now cause I have a Becca one that I love but in summer time I’ll choose between the sparkle bronzer Penny for your thoughts and the one you’re trying. I’d love for my dry skin to look that energetic. It reminds me of my perception of what Egyptian royalty might look like.
I have a golden undertone, appx Fenty 420 and don't like red on my face, be at I'm combo. Especially when it gets hot and mixes with my oils, I will look like a Christmas ornament. For that reason, I agree with you. Out of these 2, I'd go with Benefits. At the end of the day I need to get what looks best on me. That's the point of makeup,to enhance our beauty. I love Rhinna too, but I love how I look more. I'm proud of you for being true to yourself.
I agree with all your points. Fenty needs a shade in between coco naughty( that is more warm than neutral with a touch of red) and mocha mami and a deeper less red shade after mocha mami. Also I think you applied too much if both cause Hoola is still to dark on you. But it helps to show us the true undertone when overdone. Lastly, neither of these bronzers is perfect for you, they all need to go back to the drawing board to create a shade that truly complements your warm golden undertone.
Best review on this bronzer. Most YT claim to kinda like it but by the look on their faces, you can tell the bronzer is going at the back of the shelf or maybe use it as a blush or eyeshadow base 😄. I ordered the Moca Mami but am pretty sure am sending it back. The Fenty side looks too red on you. We have same undertones.
I feel like maybe both looks too harsh on you is because you are contouring heavily with the products. Fenty started off too red for you and then when you started off with hoola it was a nice color but as you kept going in started to look very harsh. All in all though I do like hoola color on you, but maybe go softly with it and just warm up the cheeks.😊
So happy to see your review on these. I must admit, when Fenty first debuted I just knew it was gonna be my new MAC. So I purchased every new release and returned a good bit. It’s a hit or miss for me so I just wait for reviews at this point. I think a lot of us want a vanity full of Fenty because of the brands mission and the packaging. Lol I did get the mini of the bronzer in caramel cutie since I don’t really need another bronzer and I can use it for travel. I’m Fenty 385 and the bronzer is ok. I need to play with it some more. I like both bronzers on you but maybe the Fenty more of a blush like a flush of warmth on the cheeks. All over as a bronzer is just too much because I don’t think that would look how the sun would naturally tan your skin. The hoola looked gorg though. Also I’ve been mixing the Fenty as NARS and loving the outcome. It’s been my go to for a few weeks now.
Great point. I’m going to give it a shot as a blush tomorrow then I will know for sure if I need to return it. You’re exactly right, the sun does not tan my face in that tone. And you’re sounding like a cosmetic chemist 👀 I didn’t think to mix fenty and nars. I will be trying that tomorrow as well. Lol thanks so much 🙏🏾❤️
I really love your videos ❤ for so many reasons. Love how insightful, thoughtful and truthful you are; personally I am not sold on either the Fenty Bronzer or Benefit Bronzer. But again, love your channel❤. My skin: Combo skin, golden undertone.
I think the fenty looks better on you. However makeup is all about what you love on you! It’s all good. I have the Carmel cutie. I am enjoying it. If someone wants to ride with fenty for foundation then a hydrating primer can help. I like using the fenty concealer as a foundation on my dry days.
Boom! That’s great advice! Hydrating primer and fenty for the dryer skin beauties. I love the foundation but was not a fan of the concealer. It does seem very hydrating so I could see why you would use it as foundation. Thanks for dropping those gems LaShanna! Much appreciated 🙏🏾❤️
Do you normally apply your bronzers this way or did you apply it heavier for the purposes of the video? I'm asking because the Mocha Mami looks too pigmented and too red for your golden undertone. The Hoola looks like it could actually double as a contour on you just because of the tone of it on your skin. Maybe it's just too pigmented. Have you tried the Guerlain bronzers? I feel like you can use the Guerlain #9 Bronzer or even Bobbi Brown's bronzers in either Deep or Dark.
So glad I came across your video. I recently purchased the Benefit one. I currently don't own any of Fenty products. I truly enjoyed your honesty review.
This was awesome Sis! I was looking for a bronzer for a couple a days now, and went through and saw your video! I agree the hoola is much prettier to me. I’m not in the “red” that they have in these bronzers. That’s why it was taking me so long to decide.
Toasted is a contour shade for you (it’s creating shadows on your face ) Mocha mami is more warm and is an actual bronzer - not a contour shade . So it depends on what you want ? A bronzer or a contour shade. Warmth or shadows ?
Ok so this might sound silly but what is the difference between a bronzer and a blush? I don't have a lot of experience with complexion products so I legitimately don't know. But I feel like the Fenty side is so red that it looks like a well diffused red blush. But then again the Hula side kind of reminds me of MAC's Film Noir. So I'm just curious as to what differentiates the two.
Not a silly question at all! Bronzer is used to warm up the skin and give a “sun kissed appeared”. Some people use bronzer as contour which you could do just depending on the tone of it. I feel like the benefit hoola is neutral enough to be used as both if you wanted. Blush is used as a flush of color on the face. I feel it gives life and pulls a look together. I agree the fenty bronzer does look like a blush on me and could be used as that.
Every review I've watched has the product being layered so much - less is more with Fenty complexion products...is the layering for demo purposes only? Thanks for the comparison though. Peace!
JL Kitzenberger I agree, I have both bronzers (however Coco Naughty in Fenty) and with the brush and application technique they look beautiful on my 420 skin tone. Hoola is definitely deep and pigmented and will easily pull grey/purple when too much is applied like how I felt it looked in this video. However using a contouring instead of a fluffy brush it looks really nice. I personally feel 420 skin tones need Coco Naughty and not the darker shade if you don’t like a red bronzer. I personally plan to pick it up as well tho as I do like a red bronzer in the summer and I’m simply just a bronzer junkie 😂😂
I’ve never been able to find a shade in Fenty but my best guess would be maybe 400?!? I’ve also got combo skin. In any case my best match thus far is Nars ADLW foundation in Macao and the mocha mami looks like it would be muddy on me. So does the hoola toasted, but I’m not into super warm bronzers. If those two are anything like the old cover girl queen bronzer used to be Issa no for me. My go to’s are Anastasia mahogany and Bobby brown deep 4. I may try the coco naughty because I like neutral to *slightly* warm bronzers on my self. Loved the video amber!
Try coco naughty. Sound like it will be a better match for you. I can’t wear ebony bronze when I’m not summer time tan cause I will look like tomato soup lol. We are the same color in NARS foundation 😊 that’s one of my favs!
Now for me. I technically have a neutral undertone and can get away with both yellow or red based foundations, but because of the richness in my tone I am often matched with a warm (red/pink) based foundation. In Bobbi Brown, I can do Almond - Warm Walnut. In Fenty 440 was close but not perfect, in Estee Lauder Double Wear I do Rich Cocoa on the perimeter and Amber Honey in the center and with Bare Minerals Golden Dark is my shade. My Holy Grail bronzer is the discontinued Guerlain 8 Ebony Bronzer. It was everything I ever wanted and then it was taken away (but not before I got a back up). I bought Mocha Mami and it's okay, but I seriously considered returning it as it was a little too dark and too red for my liking, but I make it work by using a light hand and blending it out and softening it with my Guerlain terra-cotta bronzer. I am intrigued by the Benefit bronzer, but I can't imagine spending my money on a company that took over a decade to create add enough pigment in a powder formulation they already had that was dark enough to cater to WOC. I mean they still don't make complexion products for a great many WOC so I'm not checking for them. I want to try Prime Beaty Bronzeville and the Nars contour/blush in Giena.
I agree. I have golden undertones and I avoid anything that makes my skin look reddish. That gently bronzer is entirely too red for me. Looks like blush.
I haven’t tried the Toasted bronzer but I am similar in complexion to you and i highly recommend Black Coffee by Black Radiance. It gives the same cool tone as Toasted but with a hint of red like Mocha Mami. Also if you use a dense brush you can also deepen it enough to contour as well. It’s the perfect blend of both and a LOT easier on your pocket. I picked mine up from Dollar General. If u don’t have one of those in your area try Walmart or Target. Let me know if you do.... Thanks for the bronzer brush tip I’ve had that same brush for blush for years I tried it with my bronzer the day after I watched your video and Wow! What a difference!
Absolutely true! Everything is not for everyone. Everyone has different undertones.. and I agree they need to add more shades. You know I don’t own anything from hula 🤔.yeah they said it was build able . Good review!
I don’t like red bronzer either (however I do like the fenty side better lol) but I also don’t care for the way benefit “muddied” on you. I don’t know if it’ll show up on you but have you tried too faced dark chocolate soleil?
Hello new subscriber...your beautiful and I love your hair...I haven't purchased any Fenty products yet I'm on a no buy but these bronzers are gorgeous...👍🏽great video thanks for sharing💖💖💖
I love your videos! Would you ever consider doing or telling what you use in your hair (your curls are beautiful 🥰)? What do you think about the penny4uthots highlighter?
Thanks so much! I actually have a full playlist dedicated to my natural hair. Be sure to check it out. Also my most recent hair video is “Ouidad wash and go” I go over in detail all the products and techniques I use to style my hair. I’m not into highlighter so I’m not the right one to give a solid thought on it. BUT it does look pretty 👀
I definitely don’t like to look red with bronzers. Kinda disappointed ☹️. I might try it in store to see how it looks on me. I’m darker than you so I don’t know. But while we are on the topic of forgiving brands 😁, how about trying out the new it cosmetics foundation? I want to hear your thoughts......even if it’s just with a sample.
I agree, my skin is dry the foundation is no for me. However, I can wear other products in the line Fenty. I have watched many videos on theses bronzers, individual undertones do matter. Thanks for the comparison!😊
Hello I came across your video finding as many opinions of the new Fenty bronzer as possible and I just love your honest opinion I had to subscribe immediately. I am 440/440 do you think the hoola bronzer is an option?
Awwww thank you so much!! I think it will show up. It’s just a matter of what you like to see on your face. I like a heavy bronzer look on myself, just not red. Definitely go into the store if you can and try it out. Hoola is darker and has a more neutral undertone
I also thought the Fenty was too red, I tested it out twice & didn’t like it. I don’t like a too red bronzer but I purchased the hoola, was so surprised & happy to find it...hope Fenty comes out with more shades.
Great video. I'm reading the comments about how they both looked on your skin. I'm sure what they looked like differs in what we're seeing through video and what they look like in real life. That being said, the fenty did look like a blush. The hoola looked a darker, but I think they looked great on you.
I like the Hoola on you cause it's less red. I have olive undertones. The fenty powder in nutmeg is gr8 for giving me a golden radiance and I set with it daily. When I wanna use a true bronzer I love the one in the MAC shiny pretty things face palette. I like bronzers that give warmth but can't be overdone. Don't know that I'd purchase either one of these, but if I had to try one it'd be Hoola.
I can’t stand the Hoola packaging either. I don’t think I’m sold on either one tbh. I’ve heard great things about Guerlain terracotta bronzer. I might like that one the best. Now that I watch you more though, I’m liking the Fenty! LOL!
😆😆😆 ohhhhhh Guerlainnnnnnn...you fancy FANCY lol. I’ve seen it once in store and could not pull the trigger on that one. The hoola packaging is stupid 🙄
Amber Pacholok I’ve been pondering it all winter cuz of that price tag! But bronzers seem so hard to find. I may go ahead and pull the trigger. I also love Iman’s bronzer, which I am definitely getting for summer.
Love this comparison! I ended up with Fenty cocoa naughty even tho it should be a shade deeper and I wish it had a glow, hence bronzer, but it’s nice to be able to build it up. The mocha mami I just too red, for anybody.
I like how they both melt into your skin, I think both of them are too harsh for your complexion though. The mocha mami pulled super red and the benefit pulled purple on you.
My skintone shade is deep neutral shade 445 in Fenty with a oily skin type. I love a red bronzer so Fenty is my favorite I’m not into cool tone or neutral bronzers so I did not get the benefit bronzer. Thank you for the video...
I liked the hoola side better. I'm Fenty 440 or 450. They both pull reddish on me. But I'm normal skin, so I don't wear fenty often. But the foundation I started reusing pulls red as well. Normally I dont like that. I say my chest is golden. My face, I have no clue. Lol. When I go golden or neutral I look casket ready, so I'm going for the reddish for now. Better than greenish. Lol. I bought the fenty bronzer, but mainly so I don't miss out when it sells out. I am not sure if I will use it to send it back
Thanks for your thoughts on the fenty bronzer, I understand your views. I too love fenty and I love Rhianna however, I do not like the foundation it does not work for me. The jury is still out on the bronzer 🤔.
The foundation is for a very specific skin type so I totally understand why some people just aren’t into it. The bronzer.....ehhhh I’m pretty sure I will be returning it
I checked out Amanda Seales when she was in Chicago last month. And I've got so many bronzers right now that I probably won't pick up anything new until maybe the late summer. 😁
Benefit took way too long to release darker shades but I got Hoola Caramel and I love it. The tone and depth is perfect for my complexion (NC42). I don't think I'll be getting the Fenty one.
They really did. I’m just glad they got it right. I think I’m going to pick up hoola caramel for my kit because I’ve heard great things about that one too.
I’m fenty 440 and I got mocha mami and I believe a light hand is better with it. But, when winter comes around I don’t think I will be able to use it since I get very light. Any suggestions?
Amber Pacholok no I bought it but haven’t tried it yet, thank you for the suggestion. Also, have you tried the Milani pressed powder in earth glow?I’ve seen woc you tubers day that it is a great drugstore bronzer.
Y did it take so long for benefit to be inclusive of the dark shades for their bronzers whereas fenty is always thoughtful of the extreme spectrum of shades.? Mean benefit!
I'll admit that Fenty looked really red on you and I can't wear red based either. I'm reserving my opinion until the Sephora sale to see if Fenty has a good color for me. So will have to come back.
That's exactly what I was thinking ! Well, without trying the bronzer, bur I'm really golden/olive and red bronzer look ultra red on me and I don't like it, I'm trying to find golden undertoned bronzers... which is hard to find. for now I'm using face powders... And I don't have my perfect shade in Fenty but I think I'm 420.
I love my Becca bronzer (Maui nights), but I love red bronzers. It’s also a little too deep for me to wear year round. I think most companies that have deep bronzer need an in-between shade when it comes to the deepest two. I’m combo oil with a yellow under tone. I think the bronzer is just a preference. I know I saw on Fenty’s twitter that they have two more that are deeper coming out. I thought I was going to by toasted and I’m thinking about buying Fenty; however, I adore my Becca so I might not buy either 🤷🏾♀️. I’m just hoping to find a bronzer so that I can feel like Beyoncé year round and not just in the summer 😂😂😂. Yea I really be feeling myself with that bronzer in the summer.
Listen....live your Beyoncé life!! I ain’t mad at ya lol. If you like red then I’m pretty sure you will like fenty. I didn’t realize they were coming out with deep ones. That’s awesome. I too think there needs to be one more in between mocha mami and the coco shade.
Amber Pacholok I have a wedding coming up it’s in June for a makeup look I’m stuck my dress is a soft lavender I’m not the bride I’m going as a guest do you think a natural look with a pop of a soft color would do or a cool tone look the wedding is in the afternoon.
One is so red it looks like a blush, the other is kind of dark and looks more like a contour, however they both look beautiful on you, just not as bronzers....
I feel like Fenty dropped the ball on this one but, we’ve also forgotten their contour sticks were never dark enough for very deep skin tones like Nyma. I have golden undertones and I’d like to stay golden lol. It took forever to actually get foundations that were golden so I don’t want to put a red bronzer on top. I’m 385/390 in the fenty foundation, after seeing several reviews I’m not sure I want this anymore. I can tell mocha mami is too dark and red, Coco Naughty seems like a good shade based on other reviews but it’s neutral so I hope it doesn’t pull gray. The benefit bronzer is also too dark for me. Both companies need to make in between shades and deeper shades.
I absolutely love Fenty! I am a fan! I am a rider but damn I do have my own brain😂. But I'm not a bronzer girl...from anybody. But honestly neither is working on you. One is orange and the other is purple.
For some reason I’m never interested in anything from Fenty 🤦🏾♀️🤷🏾♀️ There definitely needs to be more deeper shades in between Cocoa Naughty & Mocha Mami. Mocha Mami seems very red toned which is unfortunate for a lot of ppl. It looks redder than the Queen Ebony Bronzer. Great video and TFS!!! 😁
I think you put way too much of the product on. It the Fenty it only looked that way because you built it up way too much. At first i thought, you were only doing it that way to show the pigment and color better. The Benefit is very pretty though
I don’t know how to put this, but Nyma skin tone does not require a bronzer. When her skin is kissed by the sun, it will have a silver glow to it. Her skin tone is too complex, yet perfect the way it is! A good highlighter would be the best bet. It’s annoying to hear people constantly say, there isn’t one for Nyma. Look at her skin, when she tans, how do you replicate that and should you? This is coming from a person two shades , lighter than her.
