If your mom calls your brother "Ehstiven" that way and she told you she's from Spain, face her because she's an imposter. It's the most Colombian/Venezuelan accent I've seen in my life. The more you aspire the "Eh" in "Ehstiven", the more Cuban/Central American you sound. If it disappears completely, "Estiven", the more Spanish from Spain or from Africa you sound. Regarding the joke about the money, we have exactly the opposite for English speakers. LOL. What's so hard to understand about her "mispronouncing" paella? Her audience was NOT Spanish-speaking, and they all understood the dish she was referring to because that's the way EVERY English speaker pronounces it. That's mission accomplished in my book.

Assuming that all Spaniards are "Mediterranean" is silly, since someone from Leon, or Lugo is 900 Km away from the Mediterranean (if anything they are "Atlantic"). In contrast, a German in Munich is just 450 Km and a Swiss farmer in the Alps only 180 Km. And no, not all Spanish women shout like the Latinas in an American film.

It's all about culture. Portugal is always included within the Mediterranean countries, even if it's on the Altantic ocean. A person from Huelva, on the coast of Southern Spain, does not see the Mediterranean sea either, nor do many people from the province of Cádiz, founded by the Phoenicians, who travelled and traded the whole Mediterranean sea, including, of course, the town of Chiclana, on the Atlantic. Considering them continental, or whatever, makes no sense. A person from Tarifa is Mediterranean and a person from Chiclana is not? Not all Spaniards live on the coast, anyway. A person from Seville lives closer to the Atlantic Ocean than to the Mediterranean sea. I guess they are "Atlantic" then, and yet they are not more similar to a German than to an Italian or Greek. Most of today's Spain has a common history and that history took place around the Mediterranean sea for thousands of years. Food, music, law, knowledge, literature and culture. The very name "Europe" arrived from across the Mediterranean sea, Roman law is still the basis of the legal system in most of Europe, and many agricultural products where introduced into the Spanish Peninsula by those who came from around the Mediterranean sea. And there is so much more...

It looks like here as in many places "cliches aka stereotypes", while making comedy. Tends to make many people laugh, i find it boring, not just here, everywhere, when you make fun of people from other countries due to stereotypes, will never find it funny! Here, back home, everywhere, give me performances from Jack Dee, Lee Evans, Billy Connolly. Peter Kay, Ricky Gervais. From yesteryear like the 2 Ronnies, the guys from Only Fools and Horses, to mention but a few, present and past in the U.K. Anytime, and i will laugh at these British type or kind of comedy and humour. Bring cliches, and you can enjoy them yourselves. Any cliche, about my country Spain, France, Germany, Italy, the US., and many more! (Stereotypes, sell very well in the U.K. even in adverts or commercials). Cliches are boring, no thanks! On another note, keep the good work!

She's "half Spanish", so of course she is going to misprounce some words in Spanish too but that's what makes this a great skit. People who are offened by her jokes about her mom and its contents remember she's a comedian and she's not only taking the mickey out of her mothers accent, heritage and culture she's doing exactly the same about the English. So chill the farm down to all the people who are attacking her. It's a fricken joke. Omg, it's not the end of the world. She's hilarious!!😂😂❤❤

I had spanish au pairs through my childhood (our town had a lot of spanish students who au paired for cash and board). It was great. Every single one of them learned the art of passive aggressive to a t, and used to yell at my dad when he was being sarcastic in front of their friends. Looking back, I'm absolutely amazed I never picked up any swear words.
