Even a small amount of fresh herbs can double or even quadruple the antioxidant power of a meal. The ability of oregano to decrease chromosomal damage from radiation and marjoram to affect hormone levels in women with PCOS is put to the test.

The pain from my cysts went down just by eating an organic vegan diet. I think avoiding dairy was significant.

Hopefully this will be covered by Dr , Greger in one of his videos. Meanwhile I found this study that can explain Diet with high advanced glycation end products (AGEs) content represents one of the environmental factors that are related to both the metabolic and reproductive alterations observed in PCOS [2]. Advanced Glycation End Products: Link between Diet and Ovulatory Dysfunction in PCOS?

Agree! It's sooooo common! I didn't realize this until I was diagnosed and then found out so many people I know have PCOS as well.

Gonna nitpick a bit here and say that Nutritionfacts.org isn't just about getting the most clicks possible, it's about educating people in an easily accesible way about a variety of nutritional subjects. I wouldn't want Michael Greger to just start making videos that get the most views, it would really harm the cause. There's too much screamy, over-the-top clickbait and whatnot out there already. Of course it's good that common health issues are addressed though, and the more people get this information the better, but I just wanted to point this out.
@PhereNicae1
@PhereNicae1 7 лет назад
OK, I never said they were about clicks. I just worded it a bit unfortunately, I meant that a video about PCOS would help a lot of people. He does adress diabetes often enough, and PCOS is of similar importance, so dont worry, it wouldnt hurt the cause, really.

Please Dr. Greger make as many videos as you CAN about PCOS! It's a really common problem, even my girlfriend is struggling with pre-PCOS symptoms and we both breathed a sigh of relief when we saw you are tackling this! You'll get a lot of views I know so many women that suffer from this.

Well my diet tends to be fairly high carb not intentionally as I don't follow 80/10/10 or anything like that but what foods specifically would you recommend I eat daily to help this problem? Maybe my fat intake is too low...

Artichokes are high in anti-oxidants but unfortunately I can't stand those hairy fibrous things. Stymie said it best: "It may choke Arti but it's ain't going to choke Stymie". I love oregano and I add it to my spaghetti sauce, it's also good in beef stew and menudo.

Thank you, I have been battling this for decades and I'm in constant research to find all that defeats this. But I never found out the benefits of herbs. Knowing this can help, ever year I grow a lot of herbs and I usually gave them away but I think I'll use more

Hi, I did some search and this study covered a lot of questions about bioavailability of polyphenols of dried herbs and fresh herbs also in tea. I hope this is useful for you. code: Culinary Herbs and Spices: Their Bioactive Properties, the Contribution of Polyphenols and the Challenges in Deducing Their True Health Benefits

Thanks Dr. Greger. My sister suffers from this condition and it's been five years now. We've been through a lot of docs that prescripted awful non-sense high protein diets which ultimately led her to kidney stones. At last, I can show my parents some scientifical evidence of things that could actually work.

I really want to know, does everyone get foul breath for 2-3 days after eating onion, or is it just some people?
@A_A828
@A_A828 7 лет назад
It's just some people. It's a genetic trait I believe. Some people can break down the compounds in garlic and onion faster than others. Would be interested to know whether the foul breath also is an indicator of those compounds being more actively absorbed in the bloodstream, or more poorly processed by the body. Could mean that the effects of garlic and onion are even stronger in those who get foul breath. Could be a good or a bad thing I suppose. But this is all speculation.

Could you do a video on the specific foods to eat for sex drive and healthy erections because I'm suffering with both on the vegan diet? As soon as I introduce dairy back into my diet it comes back within 3 days. I really really want to be vegan but not if I can't maintain an erection. I should say I'm male 26 and prior to being vegan I had no problems with drive or erections . Thanks

Interesting, I had the opposite happen. What does your vegan diet generally consist of? You eating enough fats and zinc and such?
