This is a good idea for a small residential installs. But on a large site where there's 50+ cameras I would probably install more than one NVR. In a large school for example you might have two NVR's in two locations. In the event one NVR stopped working or was stolen there would be a backup.
How long do you expect an SD card to last? Recording 24/7 to SD cards wear them out quickly and I would be worried that a worn out SD card or corrupt SD card could stop the camera recording or worse even crash it so it stops streaming back to the NVR. The problem is most cameras are in hard to reach places so regular card replacement isn't always possible.
Great video, I completely forgot about this as my cameras had been set up this time last year. I'm looking at the spec of the DS-2CD2387G2-LSU/SL on Hikvision website and it doesn't state its highest capacity. Do you know what that is? Could you do a video of setting this up?
Maximum storage capacity is 256 GB for that specific camera. What this video didn't state is you should also purchase a *High Endurance / Industrial Micro SD card intended for 24.7.365 video recording. Not, a standard Micro SD card as they are NOT designed or intended for continuous writes.

Will it overwrite when SD card is full or do we need to manually delete old recordings? Also, I am a bit worried that someone could just break the camera and steal it with the card inside so I am then left with nothing.
Hi is possible to record on sd card and nvr at same time? I have a ptz ip camera and I use it on nvr by ip (not poe) but I see only record on nvr but not on sd card the sd card is insert on camera 256gb
