I've had one for 5 years or more, my dove hunting gun. Once you learn to pattern your shotgun, then you will improve your shooting. Every once in awhile I'll take it sporting clays just before dove season. It's a great shotgun.

Used to shoot with Super Vinci and Benelli Ultra Light but switched to SBE 3 when it first came out. When patterning, it shoots 6-7” high from my point of aim. I changed shims all that but still shoots the same. I was thinking about sending it back to Benelli but I was able to hit more clays and killed more ducks with it despite it shoots high. No questions about it, it’s one of the best shotguns I owned. For Turkey, I will stick my Stoeger M2000.

This argument of they shoot high always intrigued me 🤔 Your video has cleared the problem for me 😎 In the UK we are used to guns firing 70/30 patterns I wasn’t aware of the US being used to 50/50. Many Thanks. I shoot a SBE2 and a Rafaello (Ethos in US) I love them both 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼

I had a Benelli for one season. I knew it shot high, but I kept shooting over ducks coming down into decoys. I consider myself a decent shot, but my brain couldn't get over my barrel being so far below the target when they are dropping in. Clays and passing birds were no problem. Sold it and got something with a flat rib and lower impact.

SBE3 comes with shims to pattern it to the way that you shoot.
@salkinjensen
@salkinjensen 2 года назад
@@ryandavis461 shims can’t make the angle of the rib flatter.. if you look straight down a angles rib, it will shoot high. If that’s the case, shims can only adjust up and/or to the side.

I’ve owned a lot of Benelli semi’s over the years. Still have 5 in my safe. Though I have Never had the SBE 3. They just pull up and feel better to me. I do 2 thing when I buy a new Benelli. Put one of those champion green hi vis sights on it. This helps in two ways. Easier for my old eyes to see and i found it will slightly lower your point of impact. Secondly I never use the oil that comes with the gun. I use only FP10 sparingly this is especially important if you hunt in sub freezing conditions. Also if you shoot a lot besides normal cleaning which is so easy with a benelli I strip the gun down and scrub if with soapy Dawn water. All my Benelli Guns have been very reliable and great shooters.

Great review. My Super Vinci doesn't shoot high. Its pretty much 50/50. The shims might help it shoot a little lower if you mess around with them.
@UnprofessionalOutdoors
@UnprofessionalOutdoors 3 года назад
Thanks! Honestly I’ve become a big fan of the higher poi. And yes the shims absolutely can help compensate. I’ve hunted with a super Vinci before and it’s owner would not stop telling me how high it shoots lol. I think the shooter does have an effect on just how high the float is, but either way I love it. I’m much more accurate when floating the target.

there is a collar ring under the forearm grip that has some blue loktite that adjusts your poi. mine came with no loktite on it played with it can get 40/60 all the way to 100/0 love this gun. no loktite though it can move just put the barrel and forarm on carefully. dont wanna loktite it i kinda like messing wity it with different shells

I had the exact gun. Sold it. Second guessing every time I pulled the trigger wondering if I was aiming too low or high. Don’t get me started on the fact that it just didn’t shoot high it also shot left. Aiming 2 low on a duck at 40 yards is mental. And don’t get me started in where these guns lob slugs. Off a bench at 50 yards it’s 7 inches high and 7 inches left with Remington sluggers.

Yeah, I almost ended up in the exact same place. I was getting so frustrated. I patterned it a good 4 times and shot a lot of clays to get used to it. I have also heard rumors about them shooting to the side but I am lucky enough to not experience that.

An upgrade from the Girsan MC 312 which is a fantastic shotgun that has always surpassed my expectations. Is the 2000$ more worth it?... I sure hope so 😂! In my opinion it’s totally worth it. The thing I like most about the SBE is actually the way it cycles. It’s very clean. There’s no “slop” in the cycle process. Feels almost like you’re firing a single shot whereas with a lot of other semi auto shotguns, you can feel and hear the action cycle.

I have a SBE 3, 2 and two M2 fields. Out of the four the SBE3 is the only one that shoots high. I have seen several other videos such as this one stating that its because it shoots like a European gun should. So, my question is, with all of the benelli's being made in Italy, how come the SBE 3 is the only one that shoots high and the excuse is because its designed to do so intentionally? Please don't take this comment to be offensive, I am just trying to figure this out and hope you can provide a answer.
@bobl5737
@bobl5737 2 года назад
It's interesting how no one in America ever heard of "European Style" shooting until Benelli produced a crapload of $2,000 shotguns that shoot a foot high and to the left! Also, did you know that in Europe water fowl only fly from right to left? It was very thoughtful of Benelli to build in that extra lead as so many shooters tend to fall behind birds!!!😂
@gregp39402
@gregp39402 2 года назад
@@bobl5737 Yes, it was thoughtful of them to incorporate the autocorrections for us,lol. But seriously, they came out with the whole "its supposed to shoot that way" only for the gun that is giving trouble. As I previously said, I have three other benelli shotguns and they work flawlessly, and shoot with a average of a 60/40 pattern, but the SBE 3 is the only one with issues. As far as my experience goes with them that is.
@bobl5737
@bobl5737 2 года назад
@@gregp39402 I have the same experience; SBE 1, Nova, Ultralight, and Franchi Affinity all shoot near 60/40. I was ready to 'pull the trigger' on a new SBE 3 when I started reading all of the complaints. And, of course, Benelli has dealt with it the same way they addressed the 'Benelli click' which was to deny it. Isn't it ironic how for all those years of denying the 'Benelli click' issue, they made an upgrade to correct it on the SBE3...and promoted that upgrade in their marketing?

Does a camo finish gun give a hunter any type of advantage?
@UnprofessionalOutdoors
@UnprofessionalOutdoors 2 года назад
Yes, but not only due to the camo pattern itself, although that does help. The camo finish makes the gun less shiny, which drastically reduces the amount of light your gun reflects which is important.

I've got an SBE and my buddy has an SBE2. Frankly I was not impressed with the newer models. Tested, my SBE out shot his newer gun in pattern and actually had less recoil with my aftermarket butt pad as compared to his with the factory pad and fancy stock. I'll stick to my old school SBE which is superior to the newer ones with all the bells and whistles. Newer doesn't mean better.

Actually when you are patterning a shotgun it is only for gun fit at 16 yards. What you are doing is point of impact at a certain distance no more no less.
@UnprofessionalOutdoors
@UnprofessionalOutdoors 3 года назад
Patterning is actually not for gun fit, although sure, it could contribute to that. It is specifically for point of impact at a certain distance. The results will change based on your shotgun, choke, and ammunition so it should be done repeatedly. 16 yards is too close to give the shooter enough feedback/data about the results. 30-40 yards is the standard, with most hunters using whatever the anticipated shot distances will be in the field. 👍
