should have blocked those air ducts and repeat the tests.. :)

30mph with two 225 floating on fart bubbles 🌬 looks like fun! It would have been even more exciting seeing the Miss America 9 blasting past at 70mph with a stepped hull, they knew how to make them back then 😂

Don't think this was a good comparison as there was nothing to compare to like for example the exact same boat with a typical Hull.

Sales video disquised as a test,they didn't even block the air scoops off to do an an A/B performance comparison
@sadenuttie2234
@sadenuttie2234 2 года назад
@@MrCR500AF wouldn’t really be a fair test, as the hull has been modified significantly. You would need to have a boat of the exact same size and weight with the different hull to compare properly

The US Navy tried this same design on the old flying Ducks, and failed miserably. At a certain speeds the just the opposite effect happens. It creates a vacuum effect causing. The hull to remain planted and therefore increase in fuel usage. There has not really been anything new developed in boating in almost 50-60 yrs. Manufacturers have no desire or motivation to as the bulk of the boating market died when the economy crashed in 07-09’ and still never has recovered. Yes, those old rich guys in Miami still will keep trying to out do one another, but that’s about it.

should run the air intakes back into low bilge area. will suck out any water and fumes when under way just have a high spot in line well above waterline

This video is detailed but he did not mention the real fuel reduction comparted to an equal boat ! Is there a real reduction with the air lubrification of the hull or just a softer feeling in boat handling ?

One would think that cavitation would occur with air introduced.

I've been kicking around ideas like this lately for improving performance on my electric motor
@dontaskme9047
@dontaskme9047 5 лет назад
It probably won't work because your propeller needs to move the water so separating it from the water would be a bad idea.

Does the air forced drawn by itself or by some kind of compressor ? And on high speed turn does the stern slides excessively since it is air lubed?

Is this design used for the Swift Trawler?
@kimdebbie4122
@kimdebbie4122 5 лет назад
This is what large freighters do to save fuel and increase speed. And no the props don’t suck air, causing cavitation. The reason is the propellers are below the air in clear water. I don’t know the boat builder here but I’ve been in the boat building industry for 38 years and this hydrodynamics 102 in play. Modern hydroplanes use this kind of technology. So l would have to say to you boys that built this hull good job! I hope you sell a boat load of these and laugh all the way to the bank.

Applying for transfer to U Michigan (Naval architecture & marine systems engineering degree - bachelors). Fell in love with lofting in a wooden boat bldg class I took in Sausalito, Ca. Since then have spent a few seasons working on sportfishing boats. Now I want to design saltwater hulls in the 22' & up out of modern materials & techniques designed for nearshore & offshore fishing. Any advice for someone starting a formal education? Where might you suggest I intern in my summer months when I transfer to UMich? Thank you.

In order to say if a bottom is efficient or not, we need to know Keith and Crouch numbers. Can you supply that? Aletrnatively you can tell me all the data of the tested boats so that I can calculate the coefficient. Thank you!

Dose the Air step add to cavitation at the propeller?

I don't think so because the bubbled stick to the hull.

Why they just dont put the exhaust of the engine on the air step design rather than drawing it out from outside on the bigger model

I was thinking you going to use pressured air. I just don't think the air has enough pressure or volume to go there and do anything useful.
